Jade opened her eyes, and she was now sitting dead center of a three pole wide wire-like bridge. She looked in front of her and watched as Four was kneeling down gripping onto the poles for dear life. The two looked around at the ground far below, but only Four was was driven with intense fear for looking too long. "Fear of heights, why am I not surprised?" Jade says standing up, Four does as well. "Its not real. We can just jump." Jade suggests, "No, Divergents would jump. Dauntless would get to that building." Four points to the left where the bridge connects to a large building, and the two balance themselves carefully in that direction.
Once they successfully make it to the building, they are forced to crouch through a small space. Two right turns later they enter a slightly larger chrome room. Unfortunately, they are still forced to stay in a crouched position, Four then looks back noticing that the entrance they had just came through, disappeared. He rammed into that same wall, attempting to see if it would magically re-open but, there was honestly no use. Four grunted as he sat up against the wall, and wiped the sweat from his forehead.
"Fear of confinement." Four says aloud, Jade nervously laughs. "Out of all the things to have in common, it just had to be this." Jade jokingly says as sweat begins to built on her forehead. Just then the walls began to slowly close in on them, causing Jade to panic. She desperately tried her best to keep the walls back with her arms. Eventually, she stops pushing against the wall, remembering none of this was real. "You can't just push the walls back like last time, you have to find a way of stopping it. What would a Dauntless do?" Four asks, and Jade looks around frantically as she spotted a couple of nails on the ground. She quickly picks them up and began to try and force them into the bottom crack of the left wall, attempting to jam it from moving closer.
At first she struggled, "Jade," he coos, "Breathe. And take your time," Four says soothingly. She takes a deep breath in and tries once more, and finally succeeds. The walls stop and then disappear, allowing for the two of them to once again stand. They were now in a large dark room with a chair in the center. Four walked past Jade and towards a table of which a gun laid.
In the chair sat a pretty blonde, her eyes stayed glued on Four. He picked up the gun, "As a Dauntless soldier, you have to follow orders you don't always agree with." He says. Jade examines the girl, she had the aspects that Jade herself had but, at the same time the girl was different, unique even. "Who is she?" Jade asks looking at Four, "She's an innocent. And I have to kill her." He raised his gun at her as he spoke, and Jade watched as Four and this mysterious girl look into each others eyes as he laid the guns barrel onto her forehead. In that split second the girl began to change, starting from the top of her head and down. Her hair curled, her eyes pooled a different color and her identity surely changed, it was now a clone of Jade at the end of that guns barrel.
"But I could never do it." Four said, "Unless I look away." He finishes just before he turned his head and pulled the trigger. Jade could see her own body laying there lifelessly as Four backed away slowly, breathing heavily. He backed into a hallway, and Jade followed behind him as she looked around at the unfamiliar but oddly homey scenery. She took a peek out a passing window and could see nothing but multiple lined up gray buildings, just like the one they were in; indicating that they were in Abnegation. "Why are we in abnegation?" She questions, he looks back at her as they cautiously continued to walk out of the hall.
"Your last fear is your worst fear. It lives in the deepest part of your mind." Four explains, Jade wondered as to what in Abnegation could frighten him. The puzzles pieces began to connect as Marcus, Abnegations leader, came waltzing down the rail-less stairway, holding a leather belt over his shoulder. Jade remembered back to when Tris had quickly shared a rumor about her old factions leader, and his son. And that rumor is still to this day spreading. "Marcus had a son." Jade breathed, "What was his name?" She questioned aloud.
"Tobias." Marcus answered and for Four his real name echoed continuously, but just then multiple clones of Marcus circled them, all carrying belts. The one in front of Four stepped closer to them, "Tobias, I'm just trying to help you," He pauses, "To be better." Marcus says nonchalantly. Jade looks at Four, he's drenched with sweat and nearly cowering as he slightly backed away from Marcus. Jade had never seen this side of Four and from the first day she met him, he was always known as Four, her intimidating and mysterious Dauntless instructor. But now, he looked and seemed more like a Tobias; not because of the fear he showed, but because he was less of a closed book in her eyes.
Suddenly, Marcus flings the belt back and aims for Four, "No!" Jade yells as she jumps in front to protect him. Marcus throws Jade out of the way to get to Four, and then Four grabs the belt and punches Marcus to the ground, causing the simulation to end. Jade wakes with a slight start, and she notices she's back in the small white room with Four seated on the same chair she was. She looks back at him as he carefully pulls the small circular device from her temple. Jade wondered why he wanted to show her that, she wondered why he opened up and revealed his deepest secret to her, of all people.
Later that day Four and Jade were walking amongst Dauntless and Jade mentioned something about how much she missed playing board games, and card games back on Amity grounds with Miles and the rest of her family. Four said that he had the game 'UNO' back at his apartment, and she happily and very excitedly suggested going back and playing. After about two games, -of which Jade both won-, Four stepped outside onto his own personal balcony as she kindly offered to put the game away. Jade slipped off her jacket, and straighten out her tank top before going out on the balcony as well. She looked at him as he was leaned over with his forearms on the balconies railing.
The sunset he was watching hit off his eyes so perfectly it made Jade weak in the knee's. She slowly approached him, they kept eye contact while Jade took her place right next to him. "Four? Four fears?" She asks, he glances at her and nods, "Four then, Four now. I keep going in there but," he pauses, "I don't think you ever lose them." He says looking over at her. Four then remembers something he's been meaning to ask Jade, "Can I ask you something?" He questions, inevitably making Jade anxious at the various possibilities of what he could ask. "Of course, what is it?" She asks casually, and he takes a moment to think.
"Your name's not really Jade is it?" He asks, she smiles and shakes her head. "My first name doesn't really have that Dauntless ring to it. More Amity if you ask me." She says, he looks at her curiously. "So when we first met, and you told me I could pick any name I wanted, I immediately thought of my middle name, which of course, is Jade." She explains, "My first name is Natalie," She confesses. He smiles at the sound of her name, "to be completely honest with you, I think Natalie's a very beautiful name. Whether it sounds like a brave name or not, it depends on the person, and if they make their name sound brave. And you Natalie, could definitely make it sound brave." Four compliments, causing her to smile and blush even more then she already was as she thanked him.
She could also sense what path this conversation was leading to so she decided to change the subject. "Since I answered your question, I think it's due time you answer one of mine." Jade says, Four nods. "What's your tattoo?" She softly asks, he gives her a side smile. "You wanna see it?" He questions, Jade bites her lip and nodded. Four stands up straight and turns around, now having his back to Jade.
He pulls the back of his dark grey shirt over is head and off. Jade is then faced with a beautiful piece of art plastered all over the skin of his back. She steps closer and places her fingers against his skin, tracing the neatly tatted black patterns with her fingers. It was so beautiful she fell into a trance that lead her to forget the tattoo was even on him. The tattoo presented all five factions lined up vertically. In the middle of his shoulder blades laid Dauntless's Fire symbol, below it Abnegations helping hands symbol, below that Candors Scale, then Erudite's eye and lastly, Amity's tree.
"It's stunning." Jade whispers, she lastly traced Amity's symbol, which laid right on his lower back. It strikes up a question, "The factions. You have all of them. Why?" She asks as she lowers her hand from his back, "I don't wanna be just one thing. I can't be. I wanna be brave, I wanna be selfless, intelligent, honest and kind." He confesses to her as he turns around and steps closer. "Well, I'm still working on kind." He adds with a cheeky smile. Four and Jade's faces were now inches apart. Four looked into her eyes, and noticed they were flickering between his own eyes and lips. Four leaned in and finally did the one thing he's been wanting to do for awhile now, and kissed her.
He place a hand on her waist and another on her jaw, pulling her closer and deepening the kiss. Jade attempted to kiss back just as passionately but in the end, she was definitely dominated by the sheer desperation and need he portrayed with his lips. She placed her hand on his muscular neck while he deepened the considerable make out session even more. It was like he craved this moment more than anything in the world and Jade thought if that was the case, then he definitely wasn't the only one. Soon the lip contact got more steamy and fierce, as if the two wanted to ravish each other right then and there.
Four uses the arm that was already wrapped around her to pick her up off the ground, forcing her to wrap her legs around his waist. It was then Jade knew it was due time to stop but it was difficult for her mind and body to grasp the concept. The two continued the make out session as Four began to walk towards the door of the balcony. Once they got inside, Jade pulls away to catch her breath, Four gets a devious idea and spins around with Jade in his arms. Her contagious laugh filled the room as he spins her all the way to his bed.
He drops her down and crawls right on top of her, trailing kisses from her chest to the very bottom of her ear. She couldn't help but moan as pure ecstasy flowed through her veins. The feeling of having the only man shes ever desired to lay kisses upon her skin was more then exhilarating. She lowered her hand to the top of his abdomen, which hovered above her own. She glides her whole palm across his abs, and takes in how muscular Four really was.
While he was still attached to her neck Jade notices the position they were in, and just how sexual it was. Her legs were spread and there he was, laid shirtless in between them. Her mind began to regain control of the scene and got Four's attention off of her neck, and onto her. She looks into his chocolate colored eyes, and then kisses him again. "I don't think you know what you've just gotten yourself into mister. You're stuck with me now." Jade eventually whispers into his ear, causing Four to chuckle just a bit. He placed his forehead gently onto hers as she traced her thumb over his bottom lip. "Stuck? Well then today must be my lucky day." He says, causing Jade to laugh as well.
