The next morning, Jade is peacefully woken up by Four sitting down onto the bed next to her, she notices she had slept the night over at Four's apartment once again. "Good morning," He says in a deep, sultry-like morning voice, and it puts a smile on Jade's face. "Good morning to you too." She replies as he glides his pointer finger underneath her chin, and places a tender kiss upon her lips. Once he pulled away a smile immediately spreads across her face, "What a wonderful way to wake me up." She tells him. Four smiles at her comment and takes her hand into his.
Jade looks down at their entwined fingers, and once again blushes at how small her hand was compared to his. "Final testing is scheduled for today." Four mentions, rubbing her hand with his thumb. She nods unsure, "I'm not sure if I can do this." She confesses. Four takes a dangling piece of her brown curls and tucked it behind her ear, "You can do this Natalie, I know you can." He says. "If you want to make it through this final step, you need to believe you can. If you call yourself Dauntless then make sure that's exactly how they see you." Four explains.
Jade looks at up at him, "So all I have to do is be brave?" Jade softly asks, he nods. "Exactly," Four says, Jade looks away from him and thinks for a moment. He examines the inquisitive expression on her face, "what's going on in there?" He asks, gently tapping on her left temple. Jade shakes her head, "it's just.. how am I suppose to be only one thing when I know I'm definitely more then just brave." She says. "I received all five of the factions on my aptitude test, and I have this weird feeling they're gonna find out anyways. No matter how Dauntless I make myself seem. I might as well have 'Divergent' written across my forehead." Jade adds looking down at their hands.
"Wait, what did you just say?" Four asks with his brows furrowed. "I might as well have 'Divergent' written across my forehead?" - "No no no, before that, what did you say at first?" He questions more clearly, "oh yeah, I don't think I ever told you. Tori listed all five of the factions before sending me out the back door for my safety. Dauntless, Candor, Erudite, Abnegation and Amity. She said it exclusively in that order, which surprised me considering my original faction was last." Jade explained to him, and he just sat there amazed. "Yes I know, me being the literal definition of a Divergent doesn't help my case."
"You're right, it doesn't. But what it does do is make you all the more unique in my eyes. You're brave, honest, intelligent, self-less and kind. And honestly, I can't say I don't envy you right now." Four confesses with a chuckle, she laughs with him remembering back to when he showed her his tattoo. "And even though you're as pure as a Divergent can get, it's still possible to trick Dauntless leadership, you just have to know how to do it." Four says, and for Jade the way he said it oddly enough made her laugh. "That's funny, you said that like you have experience or something." Jade said, she never stopped to think for a second and consider if Four too was Divergent. She looks at him, he lifted an eyebrow at her, crossed his arms and licked his lips. He looked as if he wanted to tell her something but something was keeping him from speaking, "you're Divergent too. Aren't you?" Jade quietly asks sitting up next to him. He nods his head, "My administrator, the year of my aptitude testing was like the one you got; which was Tori. She warns Divergents just like I do because the last thing we want, is to have unjust deaths on our hands." Four says.
Jade looks into Fours eyes and smiles a bit, feeling a little bit of her heart melt. She leans in, places her hand on his jawline and places her lips against his endearingly. He of course kissed her back and to her surprise, pulled her up out of the blankets and onto his lap. They locked lips as Jade was now straddling Four. Suddenly he pulls away and lays back onto the bed, bringing Jade with him. She laughs and flips her curly brown locks so they wouldn't be in his face as she laid on top of him.
She slid her body down his to where she could lay her head onto his chest. When she did Four wrapped his arms around her, and kissed the top of her head. "You should head down for breakfast. Your brother and friends are probably worried and or curious as to where you are right now." Four says. "I know. But I don't wanna leave you right now." Jade replies snuggling deeper into Four. "Jade." He says sternly with a hint a playfulness.
"Okay okay, fine. But I'm not getting off of you until I get another kiss." Jade demands, and of course her demands were met just as their lips did. She got off of him and pulled some shoes on, fixed her hair and grabbed her jacket. But before she turned to leave she stepped in front of Four, where he now sat at the side of the bed. "Can I ask you something?" She questions, he nods and gently grabs her arms, pulling her closer to him. "When do you want my friends -and unfortunately brother- to know about us? That is if you even want them to know about us." She asks nervously, he smiles at how shy she seemed about asking the simple, and reasonable question.
"I mean, since you're gonna be sleeping over here a lot, there's bound to be questions if not from all of them, from Christina so I'd say, relatively soon. But don't you worry, I'll handle that." Four says standing up in front of her. He gives her a hug just before she headed out and down to Dauntless's cafeteria. Unfortunately she noticed a pair of eyes on her as she left Four's apartment. She looked around and could only see piercing blue eyes and a pearl white smile. "Well well well, what do we have here? Pretty Amity girl carelessly sleeping with her instructor I presume?" Eric wrongfully teases, but somehow Jade could hear the searing hot jealousy that tinged his voice.
Jade gave him a smile as she stopped to speak, "Stop insinuating Eric, I'm not sleeping with him." Jade retorts. Eric laughs and nearly snorts, "Yeah not yet. Face it beautiful, it's only a matter of time until he starts getting pushy for the, y'know. He does that with all the girls he's been 'with'." Eric air quotes and in that second Jades heart fell to her toes. She took a moment to think and realized there were times Four and her had almost gone to far with their intimacy, considering their relationship just started yesterday. Jade shook her head, "I know what you're doing Eric, you're making Four look bad in attempts to get your chance with me. Well guess what? It's not gonna work." She says just before turning to leave, "Well I mean it's working now isn't it?" Eric says before she could get out of earshot, Jade stops in her tracks and turns around. "Why on earth would you think that?" Jade asks with a laugh, "you said it yourself 'you're making Four look bad' in attempts to get my chance with you. Instead of 'you're trying to make Four look bad', so the only reasonable explanation for that is I've already convinced you." Eric explains allowing an evil smile to spread across his face.
"I'm less convinced then you think I am pretty-boy." She spat, Eric raised an eyebrow at her. "Wouldn't you like to know more though?" Eric asks slowly walking around her, "Wouldn't you like to know every little detail about number boy in there?" He points towards his apartment door, which stood about a good ways away from the two of them. "Wouldn't you like to know exactly how many girls have stepped through that same door? How many girls have been touched by that same man? How many girls that same oh so beloved instructor of yours has screwed on that same bed?" Eric whispered next to her ear, and it sent rage flowing through her veins. She could feel the heat rise to her cheeks and the steam blow out of her ears. "Walk with me?" Eric deviously asks, gesturing in the opposite direction of the cafeteria.
She looked over at Four's door once more before deciding to hear what Eric had to say. She walked and listened as Eric listed about seven girls that have been in her position. He listed their names, faction of origin and how he treated them. And boy was Jade upset, she didn't even want to be in the same room as Four ever again. But then again Jade also took a moment to consider if Eric was telling the truth or not.
She watched how he talked to see if he was lying or not and to her, Eric was either telling the truth, or just really great at lying. She wished her former Candor friend had been with her. "How do you know so much about Four and all the girls he's been with. What were you, girl number eight?" Jade teases, Eric rolls his eyes and smiles. "No sunshine, you're girl number eight, that is unless you get out while you still got the chance. But believe it or not me and Four used to be good friends. There was a point in time where we were Bestfriends." Eric confesses not realizing his menacing exterior was cracking away. "What happened?" Jade questions, she watches as the same eerie smile he had, crept back up onto his face. "I became his boss, that's what happened." He answered as they hit the corner doors to the cafeteria.
The two entered together and the smell of breakfast filled their noses, "Well thanks for letting me know all of this Eric, I'll be sure to have a chat with him later. I'll see you around." Jade tells him, she tried to avoid making it seem like she was flirting with him. "Later beautiful." He says with a wink and walks towards the other exit. Jade looks around in search of her friends and spots them sitting together at the same table from the first day. She pops a squat right next to her brother without saying anything or touching him. ". . . Yeah, well, I mean she is a bit of a brat, and she tends to get on my nerves sometimes, but she's my sister. We've literally spent our whole lives together and no matter what she did or does, I'll still love her regardless. Speaking of which have any of you guys seen her this morning?" Miles says genuinely focusing on his food, Jade lifts her brows in awe as everybody but Miles seems to notice her presence.
She leans into him and moves his arm so she could properly wrap her arms around him. "I love you too bubbie. I didn't know you'd secretly share your love for me to our friends everyday." Jade jokes releasing her brother to indulge into the food that was placed out on the table. Across from them sat Christina and Will. "Oh don't flatter yourself monkey breath. Chris just asked me how it was dealing with you growing up all these years." Miles says cheekily. Jade rolls her eyes and notices everybody has their eyes on her, as if they were waiting for her to do something.
"What? Why are you guys looking at me like that?" She asks, everybody shakes their heads. "Says the one who disappears for like a day and a half. Where were you last night?" Christina asks. Jade shakes her head as well, "I went to Amity, to see my parents." Jade covers up, she grabs an apple and stands from her seat. "Why? that's against the rules." Tris asks suspiciously, Jade smiles and shrugs as she heads for the sleeping chambers. Her friends and brother all trash their finished plates and follow behind her.
Once they had all made it to the sleeping chambers Christina turns Jade around. "You better answer us young lady." She says as if she were her own mother, Jade laugh-snorts. "Guys calm down, my life is not that interesting. I went to see them because I missed them, that's all." She noticeably lied, "You went without me? I'm sorry but I don't believe that for a second, you would've told me you were leaving." Miles says, Jade nods her head. "I left when you were already asleep, I didn't wanna wake you or anyone else up," She says, "Don't get so hung up on this guys." She adds. Jade takes a bite out of her apple and she notices everybody has taken their eyes off her and put them on the entrance of the sleeping chambers.
Jade turns around to see non other then the supposed player himself. "Hi Four, could you please tell Jade here that keeping secrets isn't cool and that she should come clean about where she was last night." Christina says obviously a tad upset, "it has something to do with Eric doesn't it? I saw you guys walking in here together." Miles says looking at Jade as if he got it right. Jade mentally face palmed as she could feel the confused, and suspicious glare Four was giving her from the right, but she didn't look, she couldn't look. "Jade could I talk to you for a second, it's about Final testing." Four says a little harshly, emphasizing the last two words. Indicating that final testing was actually the last thing on his mind. And for Jade the aggressive expression and the whole front he put up told her that her friends nor her brother weren't gonna be finding anything out, anytime soon.
