~November 17th~
Later on that night, the triplets and their friends drank and laughed the night away. Jade took it easy on the drinking, just so she wouldn't be too out of it by the end of the night. Unlike her brothers, who happen to take part in a bottle chugging competition between Lauren and the rest of the guys. And even though they didn't participate, Christina and Tris instigated their drinking. Four drank responsibly, considering he still had to talk to Tris. After the little competition, Jade and Liam pulled Miles from Tris to talk, which gave Four a chance to get Tris's full attention, and he took it. "Hey Tris," he approaches her and she smiles wide at him, looking him up and down. "Hey Four, what's up?" She asks casually, taking a sip of her drink. "Nothing much, I just wanted to talk to you about something. It's important." He says and her eyes light up, "of course, what is it?" She asks a little too eager. He pulls her off to the side by her arm, and Jade happened to glance over just as he did. Fiery hot jealousy coursed through her veins as she spoke to her brother's, even though she knew he meant nothing by it. Four explains the new serum situation and asks her if she'd be willing to be tested on, as planned. She was uneasy about it at first but, all it took was a "please?" From Four to get her to be on board. After that Tris strikes up conversation, and what she says catches his attention. They stay talking for awhile and of course, Jade notices. She watches them as Tris says something, making Four laugh. He says something back and then she laughs, while touching his arm.
~Jade's POV~
I clench my teeth and take a deep breath in before locking an arm with my brother Miles, "let's go see what Four and Tris are talking about yeah?" I say and he finally notices his girlfriend chatting up a storm with Four. He makes a funny face in their direction before nodding his head, and pulling Jade over there faster then she could pull him. They approach and Jade watches her friend quickly lift her hand off of her boyfriend. "Hey babe," me and Miles both say, clinging to the sides of our significant others. He kisses Tris's cheek while I lock lips with Four, purposely.
I could feel Tris's eyes on us. "God you guys make me feel so lonely. I'm gonna be the only triplet without a partner." Liam says, he followed behind us when we walked over to Four and Tris. I roll my eyes, "I'm not too sure about that Liam, those hickeys on your neck tell a different story." I say with a wink, Miles then steps forward and tips our brother's collar away from his neck. "Well, I'll be damned, my little brother gets more action then I do. I approve but I don't at the same time." He says nudging Liam, and they both eventually fist bump each other, causing Tris to smack Miles on the arm. I laugh, "but seriously though, whose the girl? Why haven't we met her yet?" Miles asks looking to Liam, and he rubs his neck uneasily.
"Uh, yeah, about that," he starts. But he doesn't finish, "do you wanna tell him Liam? Or should I? Because there's no such thing as secrets when it comes to being our sibling. You should just come clean right here, right now." I say, I think my words touched him because he looked at me as such. It took him a moment but, he finally spoke up, "You know what, you're right sis." He says, and before I could say anything else, Liam walks away and steps up onto Lauren's coffee table. He whistles once, "everybody listen up!" He raises his voice, and everyone stops talking and gathers around in the living room. "Liam, what're you doing?" Miles asks our brother, and he looks over at him, "something I should've done awhile ago." He says, and he steps down from the table and sits on it, right in front of Lauren, who sat on her couch. They were inches apart, "The last thing I thought I'd do was make this public but, I realized it's exactly what I need to do." He pauses and wipes his hands on his pants, "Lauren," He says her name shakily, and she looks at him intently.
"Ever since I met you, I haven't been able to get you off my mind. Seeing you hurt these past few days made me further realize you deserve more. Way more. You were my instructor, my friend and now," he pulls his shirts collar, as if it was choking him beforehand. "I was hoping, if you'd want to be my girlfriend." He asks looking into her eyes, and we all start freaking out like 5th graders. Christina starts repeating 'oh my god' over and over while jumping up and down, while Will and Ben watch with their mouths agape, lightly smacking each other. Me and Miles on the other hand were like Christina but ten times worse. He whistles while I cheered, "say yes so you can hurry up and be my sister-in-law already! It's a win-win situation here!" I shout louder as everybody else joined in whistling and cheering.
Lauren laughs at my comment and looks back at Liam, she seemed to be thinking about it. The cheers quiet down as Liam begins to get on his knees in front of her. "Liam get up, I'm not some sort of royalty, you don't have to-" - "see but that's just the thing, to me you are Lauren." He cuts her off, and takes her hands in his. "I'd do anything to make you see you're worth more than you think. Let me show you who I see when I look at you. Let me be your peace, and your reminder. Your reminder of how unique and special, you really are. Please." He pleads, putting his head down on Lauren's lap. And by then I'm almost in tears at my brothers words.
It goes dead silent, "yes." I hear, and it came from Lauren. "I'd love to be your girlfriend William." She says, and we all burst out cheering and celebrating. The newly made couple share a kiss. I lift my drink up in the air and Miles does the same with his, "here's to the new couple. We wish you two nothing but the best." I say to them, as everyone lifts their cups as well. "May the wedding come before my nieces and nephews do." My brother Miles comments, and we all laugh, and drink our drinks together. I smack my lips and look to my older brother, "nice toast. It's like you read my mind." I say getting ready to high five him, "we are siblings aren't we?" He says, and he slaps my hand.
We try to transition into our short hand shake but suddenly, it was like my brother's hand turned into a searing stovetop. I yell, "fuck!" And pull away holding my wrist. I watch the skin on my hand bubble, "Natalie what's wrong?? What happened?" Four asks literally running to my side, everyone's attention was now on me. Miles sees that my hand is now burnt, "My hand . . ." I say, and my older brother was now looking at his own hand perplexed. This reminds me of when Liam had looked at his hand the same, when he stopped to talk to me about what happened in the infirmary earlier that day.
I furrow my eyebrows and realize I need to talk to my brothers, now. "Miles and Liam, in the hallway now please." I say already heading out the door, I could hear my brothers immediately following behind me. We exit without question and I continue to hold my hand as I lean up against the hall way. "What the heck happened? how did you burn yourself? I watched you guys high-five and start a handshake." Liam asks examining my hand. "I don't know, Miles's hand just turned in to a fucking burner. This whole touching-each-other-and-weird-shit-happens just happened again Liam, and its only happening to us three. Lauren's right, our freaky DNA means something, and I'm starting to see this is that something." I say, and notice my older brother's confused expression.
"What do you mean again? This has happened before between you two? What happened to no secrets?" Miles asks, and Liam and I try our best to explain what happened when Eric had just woken up in the infirmary, just as Four was threatening Molly and Drew. How Liam had placed his hand on me and we both began to see images. "So you basically showed her the future? " he asks, and we nod, "seconds after he lifted his hand Eric got out of the bed, obviously intending to hurt someone but, I stopped him with a peace and truth syringe. We both knew was going to happen so I made sure it didn't happen." I explain. And Miles just nods, looking down at his hand again. "I think I may know what's going on but, it's gonna sound crazy." Miles says to them, "please by all means, something crazy is better then being absolutely clueless." Liam tells him.
"Precognition and Pyrokinesis."he blurts, and we stare at him, trying to figure out what those two words mean. " My comic books back on Amity Nat, I know I only had a few but, there was this one that had people with certain abilities." Miles starts to explain, and I see where he's going with this. "Oh yeahh, we used to read those together all the time. Except for that one, we only read like half of that one. It was about two friends that eventually fall out, one stays good, and the other turns evil. The good one had Precognition, and the other guy had Pyrokinesis. What were those again? I can't remember what they do." I ask Miles, and he looks at Liam. "Precognition is the ability to see future events. And Pyrokinesis is the ability to create and control fire with the mind. Both of which matching up to what's been happening. Go ahead and call me crazy but, I think we've always been more then just Divergent." Miles answers, and I can't even argue with him, even though I really wanted to, since it'd be absolutely insane to think we actually have superpowers. "See? You can't even try to argue with me because you know I'm right! Its the only logical explanation." Miles says, and me and Liam shake our heads.
"Okay Miles calm down, I know were not normal, trust me I do. But we do not have super abilities, there's no way!" I say to him, and just then, Lauren's door opens and out comes everybody. Christina is the first to speak up, " You do know the walls are pretty thin here right?" she says leaning up against the wall next to us. Four, Tris and Lauren come out with their arms crossed. While Will and Ben continue to drink off to the side, watching us. "So do wanna explain what's apparently been going on with you guys? Or are we going to have to go off of the fact you guys think you have superpowers?" Four asks, and my brothers and I look at each other. We realize its pretty pointless to try and keep them out of it, since they are the closest people to us.
We head back inside and explain everything, from what happened in the infirmary, all the way up to just recently. And I shit you not, every single person in that room was speechless. Miles clears his throat, "Anybody have a better explanation than mine? No? Exactly." he says slouching back into the couch he was sat in. "You do understand what you're implying right Miles? If you are somehow right, that would mean Liam could tell the future and you could torch all of us right here, right now if you wanted to. Can anyone else hear how unrealistic that sounds?" Will asks, and Miles looks over at me, "show him please, your hand." he asks, and I open my sore palm for Will to see. His confident Erudite-like expression drops, and he examines my now bubbled and peeling skin even closer.
He stops examining and looks over to Miles's hand, just before he decided to quickly grab it and hold. "Will!" Miles shouts pulling his hand away, thinking he'd hurt his friend. Will remained unaffected, he holds up his hand, "Then how can you explain that? You didn't burn me just then." Will says. "That's because your not related to us, nor are you Divergent. It's only ever happened between the three of us. First Liam touched me, then Miles did." I say, realizing something, " Wait, is it . . . ," I pause, "Is it me? Am I doing this?" I ask aloud. I remember by aptitude results,"You are the only human being with an aptitude of all five factions so, statistically speaking, it could be possible." Will states matter-of-factly, and his inner Erudite was surely showing.
"Wait, let's see if it only happens within your family," Tris suddenly says, and she walks over and places her hand onto my shoulder. I flinch expecting the worst but, nothing seems to happen to her. "Well, you're right about that. I wonder what would happen if all three of you touched each other at the same time." She thought aloud and I look at my brother's, and they already seemed to be diving head first into the idea, since both of their hands were coming my way. They make contact with each of my shoulders at the same time and for awhile, nothing seems to happen again. But the difference is, they stayed there, and suddenly, Dauntless Headquarters began to quake. The building shook from the ground up, and everybody began to lose their balance.
The ceiling started crumbling down and it was then I realized it was me. I immediately stand, shaking my brothers hands off. And the moment I did the building stopped shaking, and settled once again. Everyone stands looking at us, with faces full of terror. Christina breathlessly clings onto Lauren's love-seat, "Never, and I mean NEVER," she pauses, still catching her breath, "touch each other at the same time again." And me and my brothers agree to never even think about doing that again.
\\ Two weeks later..\\
~December 1st~
I flutter my eyes open, realizing I was laid on top of something. Or I should say, someone. I lift my head up and see Four shirtless and still asleep, with my arms around his torso. I must have fell asleep on him like this last night. I smile wide and kiss his chest, he stirs a bit and it's the most adorable sight I've seen.
I sit up very carefully and slowly, trying my best not to wake him while I reposition myself to straddle his lap. I succeed and trail my kisses up his chest, to his neck and then up to his ear. "Good morning," I whisper to him, and I could feel him wake up with a smile. But, next thing I know, he wraps an arm around me and flips us over, to where he was on top instead. He places his lips on mine in a way he's never before and I kiss him back, trying my best to not melt too far into his touch.
He pulls away, yet pecks my lips once more, "Good morning," he says back, "But now, I'm a little mad at you." he says to me, and I look at him confused and ask him why. "Because, I should've been the one to wake you up like that. Today is all about you, not me." he says, and I wonder why. He sees my confused expression and shakes his head while laughing, "Don't tell me you forgot about your own birthday." he says, and I remember what today is. I gasp a little, "it's the first already?" I ask and he nods, I sit up excitedly thinking about my family. This would be the first birthday that me and Miles get to celebrate with Liam and our parents, together.
"Are you excited?" My beloved asks me, and I nod eagerly. "I can't wait to see my parents today. I can't wait to spend time with Liam and them either, since It'll be the first birthday we spend all together." I look over at him and realize, he has yet to meet someone, someone who's play's a big part in my life. "hey," I say, "Do you wanna come with us? to Amity today?" I ask him, and he smiles a little. "I was already planning on coming with, it's about time I meet your guys dad. Your mom has probably already mentioned me to him." he says, and I nod without hesitation. "She sure has, I just know it. He's probably itching to meet you too. Since he's really protective of me and all. I love my mother with all my heart but, I was definitely a daddy's girl growing up, she'd even agree with me." I laugh, and Four scratches the back of his neck uneasily.
I see the look on his face and I knew exactly what was wrong, "You're getting nervous, aren't you?" I ask and he pinches the bridge of his nose after running his hands down his face. "Of course I'm nervous. I'm five years older then you Natalie, he's not gonna like me no matter what I do or say. He's gonna think I'm some sorta player or something. He's gonna think everything I don't want him to think." Four tells her, and she shakes her head before turning his head to look at her. "Well, are you a player Four? Are you everything that Eric tried to convinced me of?" I ask him and he gives me a disgusted look, "No, of course not. And I never will be." he says, and I give him a certain look with a certain smile. "Then tell my father exactly that. Tell him how you feel about me. And how you want to be with me for years. Just put yourself in his shoes, what would you want our daughter's first boyfriend to say to you?" I ask him and his eyes widen momentarily, "Well, I would want him to tell me his intentions with her first." He tells me, and I just know that's the same thing my father would expect as well. "Alright then, what are your intentions with me Tobias?" I ask him, and he does his little curl tuck before answering.
"My intentions? Are to make and keep you happy, and to be as loyal and as faithful as I can be so that one day, I'll be able to call you my wife, and that hasn't changed ever since the day I fell in love with you." He tells me, and I blush, picturing the day I get to call this man my husband. I can't help but giggle a bit as my heart pounds at the thought of that. "Say that to me in front of him and you'll be golden." I say, and we laugh a bit. "I feel a lot better, still nervous but, I know you'll be there if I choke up." He tells me, and I give him a reassuring smile. "You'll always be beside me right?" He suddenly asks after awhile, "And I'm not just saying for today." He adds, and I kiss him once, "Til death do us part." I say, and he kisses me back, holding my cheek. He pulls away and stands, "Now get ready, there's a surprise waiting for you at Lauren's place."
