Four and her climb down the ladder, and once both of them were on solid ground, Four found himself engulfed into tight hug from Jade. "Thank you for saving my life earlier." Jade says softly near his ear, and he wraps his arms around her torso as hers were wrapped around his neck. She pulls away, "I wouldn't be standing here if it weren't for you." She adds as she turns around, picks up her weapon and heads back towards their team. She obviously let the Amity in her leak out a smudge, but to her it felt right to do in the heat of the moment. Four stands there for a second, "You're welcome." He breathes just before grabbing his weapon and following behind her.
"Alright, What's your plan?" He asks Jade as their whole team follows behind them. "We'll split into two groups. We'll go up this side while the rest of you engage Eric." Jade instructs, everyone follows suit and splits up. Once the other teams spots them, loud continuous gun fire commences and Four leads Jade and Tris towards the designated building. They're able to sneak closer just a bit but not much, they were eventually force to take cover next to one of the many large electrical metal box's. Four splits off from Jade and Tris, and covers them while they run for the building.
They duck for cover once again when they see someone from the opposite team coming. Jade has her back against another metal box with her gun in her hand as she peeks around the corner. When it's visibly clear, she turns to tell Tris but notices Peter, and his gun pointing at her. "Tell me if this hurts." He says, Jade quickly knocks Peter's gun towards the sky just as he shoots. She nails him with a dart right in his junk, "You tell me asshole." Jade says as Peter writhed in immense pain on the floor. Tris looks down at him and fired another into his leg.
The two girls head for the building again, but they are stopped once more, and this time, by Miles. Jade stops in her tracks when she sees her brother pointing his gun at her. Jade hesitantly points hers right back, not wanting to. They stay there for a good while, "You gonna shoot or what?" Tris asks in a whisper, and Jade shakes her head and lowers her weapon. "Nope, cuz I know he won't, his finger isn't even on the trigger." Jade explains, Miles lowered his weapon.
"Why do you alway have to be right." Miles says as Jade quickly pulls up her gun, closes her eyes and shoots him in the leg anyways. He falls back in pain as Jade and Tris make a break for the building, "I love you and I'm sorry, please don't hate me for this bubbie!" Jade yells back at her brother just before entering the building. Miles sat up after the pain subsided, and began dusting himself off, "Love you too you little brat." He said aloud, even though he knew she was out of earshot. "First off, I thought you said you weren't gonna shoot him? And second . . . bubbie?" Tris asks with a giggle as they ran up the stairs, "If I didn't shoot him, Eric would've figured out he let us, -his sister and friend- go right on by and most likely would've cut him. And yes I call my brother bubbie sometimes, don't hate." Jade laughs nearly breathless from running. "Smart thinking," Tris says, just before she halted her running.
"I'll stay here and guard, you go up." Jade agrees and lifts the hatch to go up where the flag is. Anticipating for someone to already be up there, she pokes her gun out and fired randomly. Molly, the one up guarding the flag, fires back after noticing the first shot. Both opponents hoping to hit the other. Jade makes sure to duck her head to avoid the darts. Soon her gun makes a 'click' sound and so does Molly's, indicating the lack of ammo.
Molly charges at her as Jade placed her hands on the side of the fire escape and launched her feet out and up, kicking Molly back. Molly tumbled but quickly gets back on her feet and swings her gun at Jade. But, unfortunately for Molly, she ends up grabbing it and shoving the gun back into Molly. She then rips the weapon from her hands and forcefully hits Molly with the bottom of the gun. The short haired brunette falls to the ground as Jade runs and grabs the flag, then runs out to the buildings terence and waves the flag. Letting both teams know that Four's team had won.
Everyone on Four's team began to cheer from down below, soon Tris joins her and Jade offered to wave the flag together. The two head back down and everyone starts to head back to Dauntless Headquarters. Jade was walking with Miles, she gave him an apology hug for earlier's incident and explained why she thought it was necessary. "Alright Alright, I forgive you. It's not like you shot me with a real gun, with real bullets." He tells her, "And anyways, I can't stay mad at you, you're my twin sister for crying out loud." Miles finishes, Jade was glad to have her brother. She wouldn't know what to do in a world without him. She walks into the pit with her brother and all her friends -except Tris-, and she sets her eyes on Four just as he set his eyes on her.
He was talking amongst other Dauntless members "Jade!" He called her over, walking away from his group to talk to her. "Congratulations." Four says sincerely, a wide smile finds its way onto Jades face. "And to you too, you were our captain after all." Jade says, making him smile. "You know, I just wanted to say that you were amazing tonight. You were really brave." Four compliments, Jade looked down to hide an obvious blush that creeped up onto her cheeks. "Thank you Four," Jade thanks him, "That means a lot coming from you. I'll see you around." She finishes, looking directly into Fours chocolate brown eyes before walking back to her friends.
Christina started acting like little a girl when she saw her talking to Four. She started interrogating her, "Well? What did he say?" Christina asks way too excited. "All he did was congratulate me and..." -Â "annndddd??" Chris asks, "And he told me he thought I was amazing tonight." Jade confesses. "OH MY GOSH. You know what this means right?!" Christina says poking her, "He likes you Jade!" She added. Jade was unconvinced, "I wish. He was just being nice Chris." She says.
"Alright we'll see about that, you guys are gonna get together I just know it." Christina says confidently. Chris's confidence gave little hope to Jade as she sat down with her, Will, Al and Miles in the pit. It was rowdy and just a tad crowded, but that didn't stop Jade from spotting Four. She began to realize what attracted her to him, it was the fact he was basically a closed book. A book waiting to be read. "God, just watching her gawk at him like that almost makes me wanna drag him over here and confess her love for her." Christina jokes, everyone laughed, while Jade just rolls her eyes.
"I'm not in love with him. How many times I gotta say that? Like, I barely know the guy." Jade says, not taking her eyes off him for a second. "He saved by life tonight by the way." Jade tells her friends, they snapped their heads in her direction. "He did What?!" Christina questions, "It's a long story." Jade laughed, and she was honestly laughing at herself. Tris had arrived moments after the group fell silent. Jade greeted her, and asked where she had gone after war games. "Oh I went with my friend Uriah to the zip-line, it was so fun. Minus the two hundred flights of stairs we had to climb part." Tris answers with taking a set next to Jade. "Sounds like fun. I would've gone with you but," Jade unintentionally looks in the direction of Four, trying to think of her answer. She trailed off and Four swarmed her mind. That hope Christina gave her moments ago was now long gone, she was a fool to even think he would like her back. She finally took her gaze off Four, and put it on Max, Dauntless's alpha leader. He was above them on the balcony of the pit next to the scoreboard, "If you're ranked above the red line, you'll move on to the second stage of training. If you're below it, we'll waste no more time on you." Max says.
"Here are your rankings." He points at the board as the scores begin to appear. Will was number seven on the board, Jade was number eight, Miles was nine, Christina was ten and fortunately, Tris and Al were just out of red section at twenty and twenty-one. Everybody begins to cheer and celebrate, the group of friends congratulate each other, and celebrate the passing of the first stage all night long. The next day they are put to work, loading bags from Amity into trucks. A mixture of all five factions were around the area, majority being Dauntless.
Jade was hard at work lugging each bag, carrying it over to the truck, and lifting them into the giant truck bed. "Soo we pass the first stage of training and this is our reward." Christina complains, "Glamorous." She adds, heading back to retrieve another bag to load onto the truck. "Glamorous indeed." Jade comments, making her way back as well. But when she reaches for another bag she notices a bright white light glaring exactly were she was reaching. She looked up at where it was coming from, and now it was shining directly into her eyes.
The moment it disappeared, she quickly walked over to where it came from. She turned the corner and felt a hand land on her shoulder, she quickly turns to a great surprise, her mother. "Mom?" She was shocked to see her, she pulls her mother into a tight hug. She releases her, "Mom what are you doing here?" Jade asks studying her mother. Amity clothes, hair down and curly as ever, and she noticed the worry in her mother's eyes.
"I figured they'd assign you here sometime." Her mother says, she admires how different her daughter was. "Look at you. God, you're so strong and beautiful." Her mother cupped her cheek, Jade smiles but realized how much trouble they could get in for this. "Mom you can't be here." - "I know but you and your brother are in danger," - "what?" Jade mumbles, "I have to ask you something, you weren't sick the day you took your aptitude test were you?" Her mother asks quickly. Jade just stares at her mother unsure, "What were your test results?" She asks her daughter. Jades looks as if she wants to speak but her words wouldn't come out.
"It's okay honey, you can tell me." Her mother reassured, "they were uh, ..they were inconclusive." She confessed. "Divergent. What about your brother? Do you know?" Her mother questions, Jade just nods. "You can't tell anyone. You can't tell your friends, your instructors, you can't trust anyone. People have always been so threatened by Divergents. They are actively seeking them out, tell your brother for me." She requests, Jade nods again. "Mom what are we??" She desperately asks, she was afraid for her and her brother lives because they just so happened to be different from everyone else. It felt as if her and Miles were the only ones.
"You don't conform, your mind works in a million different ways. They're scared of you." Her mother explains. "Stage two of training is where you are most at risk, their gonna get inside your head and watch how you respond to fear. But you can pass honey, you can make it through Dauntless. I have seen it before." Her mother says. "Mom how do you know so much about Dauntless?" Jade asks. "From your father of course. I love you sweetheart, Tell your brother I love him too and," - "hey!" Someone shouts from behind Jade, it's was a Dauntless member, "What are you doing?" Jade looks to where her mother was standing, and realized she was gone. "Trucks loaded, let's go." Jade follows order and heads back to Dauntless.
