[Chapter 1]
♥︎Married and Blessed♥︎
Lumira
My parents have arranged my marriage with a really rich man. Like I care.
He's supposed to be the epitome of wealth, handsomeness, grace blah blah. I really have no interest in him but I can't even say no to the marriage because I am already 25 and according them, too old to stay unmarried.
I don't know in which era do they live! I love my parents and can never be enough thankful to them for being the best supporters all throughout my life.
And to think of it, I don't have any loss in marrying, or any specific objection. So, I agreed eventually.
I have been single for the past year and maybe settling down would be nice for me now.
Today my parents are taking me to meet him officially. Funny, I'm marrying someone I haven't met yet.
Apparently my would be husband's mother's side family is South Asian, so my mom has immediately took it upon herself to buy me clothes according to their culture, to please them.
So for today's meeting, as per mom's order, I have dressed in a embroidered kurti and pants.
To be honest, I do look good in them. I brush my brown hair and let it stay fallen over my back, finishing my look with light lipstick and mascara.
I know I'm dolling up for a stranger, but he's gonna be my husband after all, he does deserve me dolling up for him.
"Lu! Are you done yet? We're gonna be late, sweetie." Mom presses.
"I'm done." I say and turn to face her.
She smiles and cups my face, "My pretty daughter. He's gonna love you." She says proudly.
"Thank you, mom. Now let's go."
"Right."
We leave in our car to the most expensive restaurant in the city. As we enter the place, the luxurious interior amuses me, but I guess I expected this.
"We have a reservation under the name Quill." Dad says to the receptionist.
"Wait a minute, sir." The girl behind the counter looks up at the computer screen then back at us. "Yes, sir. Please follow me." She leads us through the crowd of people, to a private room on the second floor.
The dim, warm light of the chandelier casts the room in a heart warming glow, a meidum table of four is settled in the middle and there's candles on it. The atmosphere looks really cozy, yet rich.
I must say I'm impressed.
"Please have a seat. Mr. Quill will be here soon. Let us serve the special champagne he had ordered for you." She says politely.
The three of us sit down at the table as a waiter steps in and pours us each a glass.
"Thank you." I mutter, sipping from the glass and glancing around the room.
There's a piano at the corner, a violin, on the other corner, there's a bunch of beautiful roses in a huge porcelain vase, accentuating the beauty of this room.
"He really went out of the way for this meeting." Dad says happily. "That boy is really polite and big-hearted."
"He sure is." Mom agrees.
I take another sip from the glass when the double glass doors open again and a figure walks in.
My breath hitches and I barely resist myself from spitting out the champagne and embarrassing myself.
"Ayan," Dad stands up to greet the man and I realize it's my would be husband.
Fucking hell.
He is one hell of a gorgeous being. Tall, handsome, sharp jawline, pointy nose, cupid bow lips and high cheekbones. The warm light of the chandelier shadows over his light brown skin, highlighting the grace he exudes.
I am left speechless with a weird warmth bubbling in my stomach.
"You must be Ms. Lumira."
I am snapped back to reality and realize Ayan is standing right in front of me, his confident frame causing me to intake sharply.
"You're looking really pretty." He adds, eyeing me up and down and the brown of his orbs holds a mischievous glint.
"T-thanks, and yeah. You must be the one and only Ayan." I say a bit sarcastically and mom nudges my arm from the side, glaring at me. "I mean, it's nice to meet you." I add with a sweet smile.
"Same here. I've been meaning to meet my would be wife for some time now. I'm sorry for not arranging a meeting sooner."
"It's okay." I reply, trying to act as if my heart didn't flutter the way he looks actually apologetic for not meeting me earlier.
"Please, let's sit." He gestures with his hand.
The waiters begin to serve the six course meal one by one as we all engage in a light conversation. Well, mostly it's mom and dad talking to Ayan, but it is nice how he sneaks chances every now and then to talk to me.
After dinner, listening to an amazing piano play, we all head out of the restaurant and Ayan walks us to our car.
"Sir," he begins addressing my dad.
"Please call me Daniel." Dad interjects.
Ayan smiles, "Daniel, would it be okay if I take Lumira out for some shopping tomorrow? I'd like to spend some time alone with her if it's okay."
My my, he's so bold, he's making me swoon.
"Of course! Why would I mind?! I think you two should get to know each other more before we fix the dates. Is it okay, darling?" Dad turns to me and all three heads are now pointed at me.
I fidget a little, "I'm cool with it."
"Perfect." Dad exclaims.
"See you tomorrow then, Lumira. I'll pick you up from your work at 6."
I am taken aback. He knows my work place and when I get off?
Wow, really impressive.
Which makes me think I barely know anything about him.
Well, tomorrow's the time for that.
"Okay." I wave a little.
On our way back home, I can't help the smile off my face as the fleeting moments when our eyes locked keep replaying in my mind again and again, causing my heart to swell and fill with an unknown emotion.
Maybe this arrange marriage isn't such a bad idea.
