CHAPTER TWNENTY-FIVE

She Was Broken Beyond Repair

Paisley Redmond P.O.V

"So, dad passed away lonely. After I had forced you to leave, he stopped talking to me. It took me a year to convince him that I will get you back, and I deeply regret my mistake. Eight months down the line, I noticed he wasn't keeping too well health wise, we visited a doctor where we found out he was suffering from third stage tuberculosis! They tried all the treatments, but nothing worked and he died after a year." Kyle said and wiped a stray tear that rolled down his cheek.

After I decided to give Kyle another chance, we decided to catch up on the things that happened over the last four years. It started from my pregnancy details, Noah and Ryder's pictures and DVD's, my family and etc. Now, he just told me about Jeremy his dad, during the two years Kyle and me were together, I had developed a very strong and emotional bond with dad (Jeremy). He had started loving me more than he loved and cared for his son, always favouring me and treating me like his own daughter. So, when Kyle is now telling me about how dad died with the feeling of loneliness, breaks my heart and forces countless tears to flow down my cheeks.

"You know before he took his last breath in the hospitial he held both my hands and said "Please forgive me son! Forgive me for not being the ideal father to you, for the times I neglected you. No matter what now, I can't take those times back. Please, find it in your heart to forgive me for it, I never wanted to turn out like your mother, but I still did. I have always been proud of you son! Keep that in mind! I will be more proud when you get your wife back with full respect and trust. Tell her I missed my daughter. I love you both dearly!" He said and then closed his eyes forever!" Kyle completed emotionally.

"That's....... that's just so not fair! He was such an amazing human being! I wish all that never happened, I wish I could have been there with him." I told Kyle and closed my eyes trying to digest the information I just received.

"You have no idea, how much I wanted that. He had started seeing me turning like him when you left. That scared him! After you left, Kevin and Liam too cut off ties with me. It wasn't until I almost got into a terrible accident after 2 years, they both decided to interact with me again." Kyle said and my eyebrows furrowed.

"Car accident!?" I asked Kyle.

"I had resorted to alcohol after that night, thinking it would numb the pain, and of course it failed to do. One night I was drunk and driving like crazy, but the other car sharply turned to the other direction successfully avoiding the terrible collision that could have taken place. It was all over the media, that was the time Kevin and Liam decided it was time to knock some sense into me." Kyle said and everything seemed so heavy to take in all in one day.

"And what about the alcohol, you still consumed it after that incident?" I asked him.

"No, I didn't stop entirely but I did reduce it. The night I was informed about your whereabouts I was drinking. But baby, since the moment I've arrived here, I haven't even touched it." Kyle said and placed a kiss on the back of my hand.

I was absolutely quiet unable to say anything. I didn't know how to react.

"But now, we shouldn't regret or think about it anymore! I am sure dad is happy where he is, in a better place. I also hope he is proud of me, knowing I could get you to give me a chance. And probably, Kevin and Liam would actually forgive me too." He said holding my hand reassuringly.

I only nodded.

"Kyle..... what are gonna do with all this new arrangement now?" I asked absent mindedly fiddling with my fingers.

"What do you mean by arrangement?" He asked with an edge of harssness in his voice.

"The thing that I would have to go back with you. So, what's gonna happen then?" I asked.

"What do you mean by that you have to go back? Isn't it obvious that would happen if we would get back together and when we get there, we'll start a fresh." He explained as if explaining to a little child.

"I want to tell you something." I told him and decided to tell him about the contract with Mr.Brown.

"Sure, go ahead." He said.

"Uh... the firm I work for, Carl and Joseph Associates is kind of in a partnership with some big firm in London. The firm in Britain is facing some problems because of the recent competition amongst themselves, which caused the snatching of lawyers. I am sure you are well aware about the situation too. Yeah, so the firm in London holds more than fifty-one percent of shares in our firm, they needed some lawyers so they asked us for help. I am one of the lawyers and I signed the contract last week before Ryder and Noah's birthday." I said and looked at him, his face held an expression of curiosity.

"Yeah go on. I am listening." Kyle said.

"My main purpose of signing the contract was because at that time things were more complicated between us than they are now. So, I wanted to file the divorce papers while working there and make sure the kids would live with you, for the months I would be working there and I could help them settle down." I said and fidgeting my fingers waiting for his reaction.

"Things are still complicated between us?" He asked shocked.

"Of course! You can't expect everything to be fine just in a click. We have a long distance to cover still. And that is all could you hear from what I said?" I asked.

"No. No, I heard everything you said, but now you aren't coming for the divorce purpose, right? When everything is getting back on track, we don't need have a divorce now, neither did we need it before." Said Kyle with uncertainty.

"Not now, but it was before. Which other successful and big firms are there apart from my friend's and yours?' I asked.

"Uh.. umm.. there are m-many coming u-up. It's n-not easy to name o-one." He stuttering rubbing the back of his neck.

"That's fine. But what is the need to stutter?" I asked suspicious because from what I know, Kyle is not a man who stutters ever, apart from when things are very emotionally taxing.

"That's just nothing." He replied way too quickly.

"Sure?" I asked still unconvinced.

"Positive!" He said and gave me a forced smile.

I kept a straight face and did not return his smile.

"Babe, why do you look so unconvinced?" He asked frowning.

"I don't know. I just have a feeling there is something you aren't telling me." I told him straightforward.

"Why would I not tell you anything?" He asked.

"I don't know, I just don't......" I sighed trailing off.

Kyle Redmond P.O.V

F*cking hell!

When Paisley told me she felt I was hiding something from her, I felt as if my secret was almost out. I just hope till the time everything becomes totally fine between us, she dosen't get to know about my deal with Mr.Brown.

Her last question when she demaded me to tell her why she felt I was hiding something, landed me in big trouble!

"No. No, I wouldn't....." I was about to make an excuse when the doorbell rang. Thank God!

"It might be the boys, it's is already 5."

She said looking at the time on her phone, and got up to open the door.

I made a mental note to thank mom and Mr.Brown later for their help today. I had asked mom to take the kids and Mr.Brown to stop Paisy from coming to the firm.

"Hey chipmunk's!" Paisley said and I could hear her.

"Hey mummy!" They greeted and walked inside.

"What happened to them?" Paisley asked her mom as they both walked towards the living room.

"Got into a fight. Noah had been teasing Ryder! Then just boom! I return from the kitchen and saw them tackling each other on the ground." Mom said chuckling.

"What!? Did they get hurt?" Paisely asked worried.

"Of course not! I was there in time." Mom replied as they both entered the living room.

The boys till this time just went up without even looking at me. Sure, their temper is like mine! Not a good sign at all!

"Ohk.... this is very unusual." Mom said eyeing me sitting there.

"Can we not talk about this now, mom?" Paisley said to her.

"And why is that so?" Mom said.

"Mother, I'll tell you later. Please!" She said.

"Hey mom!" I intervened and walked to her kissing her cheek.

"Hello." She said.

"Would you please explain that how are you both sitting under the same roof without having an argument?" Asked mom.

"We did all that before you came. I want you to know this, that we have both have taken a step, to work on our relationship. So, Pasiy and the kids will be going back to London with me after two weeks." I completed.

"Really!?" Mom asked grinning ear to ear.

"Yes!" I replied with a lunatic smile.

"That's just amazing! I am happy for both of you. God Bless!" She said and hugged both me and Paisley.

"And you young lady, why didn't you want to tell me about it right now?" Mom asked Paisley.

"Because I wanted to have this conversation alone with you over a cup of hot steaming coffee." Paisley said and pouted slightly.

"Oh, then we'll do it tomorrow. Now, I should leave and give the four of you sometime together." Mom said.

"No-no! You should wait and leave after dinner." Paisley said.

"Of course mom, please wait." I insisted.

"Nah. I am just gonna go, I have to meet a childhood friend of mine too. I shall see you people soon." She said and walked out of the house with both of us following her.

After seeing her off I turned to Paisley and asked "Wanna go and check up on the boys upstairs?"

"Sure!" She replied and started walking to their room.

She entered the room with me behind her.

The sight we saw made our heart flutter with happiness.

Ryder was crying and complaining to Noah about how he felt bad with the way he was teasing him, and Noah in return hugged him and apologised to him with a promise to never do that again.

"I see boys, that you both have already sorted out things." I said.

"Yes daddy!" They replied.

"So, boys mommy and I wanted to talk to you about something. Can we?" I asked them.

They nodded.

All four of us sat on their bed and started talking.

"Babies, do you both want to go to a completely different place and live there?" Paisely asked them neverousness evident in her voice.

"Diffwerent?" Ryder asked.

"Yes, love, different." She said.

"What mommy means is, Ryder, that do you and Noah want to come with daddy and mommy and live where daddy lives?" I said.

"Yes!" Noah exclaimed.

"Yes yes yes!" Ryder said and starting clapping his hands in excitement.

"Daddy lives in a different country and we'll have to go there in two weeks." Paisley said.

"Which counwtry mommy?" Noah asked.

"England, darling." She answered.

"Enwgland! That is where Uncle Luke also lives right?" He asked.

"Yes." She replied.

On hearing that I felt rage boiling inside me. That Dawson has a very deep impact on the minds and hearts of my children, which I do not appreciate at all.

"Yes your Uncle Luke lives there boys, but he lives far away from where daddy lives." I said and Paisley just frowned at me.

"Will we stay in your house daddy?" Ryder asked.

"Yes champ!" I said.

"Mommy you will also stay with us? Will we all go out together?" Ryder asked Paisley.

"Right." She said.

"Yayyyyy!" They screamed in joy.

"Are you happy, babies?" She asked them.

"Yes mommy!" "Yes mum!" They said.

"That's good then! I'll be downstairs with daddy, do you guys wanna have some milkshake?" She asked and motioned me to follow her.

They nodded and we went down.

Once, we reached the there she turned to me and asked "Why do you always have a sour expression on your face at the mention of Luke's name?"

I couldn't stop myself and asked Kyle what was his problem with Luke.

"Why do you always have a sour expression on your face at the mention of Luke's name?" I shot.

"I do not like his closeness with you and the boys, simple." He replied as if it was the most simplest thing in the world.

"And why is that?" I asked angered.

"Because he has been more close to the boys, than I could have a chance to be." He said.

"Then you shouldn't have done what you did, Kyle. He was there with me and the kids for the last four years, he is bound to be more close to them." I defended my friend.

"So now, if I point out things I do not like, you will rub my mistake in my face? Will you always mention what I did?" He asked or more like spat.

"I am simply stating the reason for his closeness with the kids! If you are perceiving things I say in another way, it is your own choice!" I said calmly, not wanting to lose my temper.

"I still do not like it. I can't seem to accept this fact! I can't see my children being so comfortable with that a*shole! I do not even feel okay with both of you being too friendly with one another." He said through gritted teeth.

"Are you serious? How can you expect the boys to not be comfortable with him? He had practically been with them from the time I was pregnant and so was everybody else. And me? I would not stop being friends with him just because you don't like it." I explained to him and I could feel my anger rising.

"I do not appreciate the closeness that asshole shares with my family, that's it!" He gritted out.

"Well if it wasn't for that a*shole as you call him, you would not have a family!" I sneered.

"What do you mean?" He asked confused.

"If it wasn't for Luke, me and the twins would have been dead already! During my sixth month I suddenly started bleeding and he was the one who took me to the hospital. Thank Lord he was here at that time! The doctor's even said if he would have brought me a couple of hours later, they would have lost both me and the boys!" I clarified my eyes tearing up a little at the memory of that day.

"H-how? H-how d-did that h-happen?" He asked still shocked by the news.

"My stress level was very high." I told him blinking back the tears remembering that horrific day.

"I am sure it would have been because of me, wasn't it?" He asked and I chose to be silent.

"I am so so sorry! Please, forgive me." He said and hugged me tight as if I would disappear in thin air.

"It's fine, Kyle. Nothing can be undone now. But you can't expect me and the kids to just distance ourselves from Luke, it's not possible. He has been my support system and I can never thank him enough for it. Please, try and understand." I said and hugged him back lightly.

I could feel him nodding.

"I am fine and so are the boys, don't think about it again now." I said and pulled away from him going to the kitchen to make milkshake for the boys.

........................................

Later that night Kyle left after dinner. We decided to stay away till we are back in London.

After Kyle left, Ace and Eric arrived. Ace retired to the room as soon as he came while Erica sat and chatted with me.

I told her about the whole thing with Kyle and she was very supportive of it. We even had a conference call with Mel where all of us decided to not tell the guys about it till I would be settled there in London and I agreed to it.

That night I went to sleep with a smile on my face and a feeling of being whole after four years.
