CHAPTER FIVE

She Was Broken Beyond Repair

Colton Haynes as Ace Maxwell

Paisley Smith P.O.V

I stood on the stairs shell shocked.

I couldn't believe my eyes. It all seemed like a nightmare! I wanted to run away and hide.

Seeing the man who was once my husband and the sole reason for my destruction set my soul on fire.

I've replayed this very moment in my head over a million times imagining and rehearsing everything I would do if this ever happened. I had planned on asking him all the questions I couldn't before, seek answers that would make it hurt less, but in this very moment all those years of mapping out the perfect plan flew right out of the window, instead I just wanted to leap straight ahead claw his eyes out and strangle him.

Kyle Redmond was standing at my doorstep with a huge grin spread across his handsome face.

I gently pinched myself to make sure it wasn't a dream, and let out a hiss which confirmed it wasn't.

That shameless man actually was standing here on my doorstep!

My wife stood there on the stairs with a shocked expression on her beautiful face. She surely wasn't expecting she would ever see me again.

The grin on my face widened. It all seemed as a beautiful dream to me.

I saw her gently pinch herself to make sure it wasn't a dream.

I was brought out of my trance when I heard her letting out hiss from pinching too hard.

Instantly I bolted towards her and held her arm in my hand to see the spot turning red.

"You wouldn't ever change your habit of making sure things are real, will you?" I asked giving her my full attention.

She yanked her arm off my girp harshly and took two steps behind as if my touch burned her and looked at me with such hatred that was enough to kill me on the spot. I could feel my stomach turning into knots seeing her flinching away from my touch, the flaming hatred in her eyes caused my heart to sink.

You can't just expect her to be ok with it after everything you did jerk. My consicious said.

"What are you doing here, Mr.Redmond? There surely isn't anything or anyone here you can destroy anymore." Paisley said her eyes blazing with fury and disgust.

Hearing her call me Mr.Redmond was sounding all too foreign to me, I was use to of hearing endearments from her as she addressed me.

"I am not here to destroy anything, Mrs.Redmond. I am here to seek forgiveness for my actions. I am here to make everything right." I swallowed the nonexistent lump in my throating and replied with utmost honesty making Paisley scoff at my words.

"You surely have had a memory loss over the past four years. If you remember, we are divorced I am not your wife anymore. As far as forgiving you is concerned, it will never happen. You know the way, please show yourself out." With that she turned to leave.

I tried to grab her but Luke's voice boomed. "You heard what she said now, get off her property this second or else I won't hesitate to make matters worse." He used the exact same words I used that day, mocking me.

I heard Luke's voice and turned around. I saw him coming close to Kyle with each word.

If looks could kill, Kyle would have already been beyond six feet under the ground.

"I won't go anywhere till I have a chat with my wife, Dawson! It's our personal matter. It would be better if you keep your damn mouth shut!" Kyle replied with a mixture of anger and hatred.

Luke was about to say something but I gestured him with my hand to stop and let me handle the situation.

"There is nothing to talk about. Please get out! I don't like to repeat myself." I snapped at him and once again turned to leave looking around slightly to make sure the boys were still busy and not in sight.

This sorry excuse of a man could not know about the existence of my beautiful innocent boys.

I saw her leaving. I knew I had to stop her. So, I had to drop the bomb earlier than needed.

"Not even when it concerns our boys?" I asked with a smirk.

Hearing this she turned faster than lightening and gasped. I mentally patted my back for catching her off guard.

"W-what are you talking a-about?"She stuttered.

Great! She only stutters when she is nervous or lying.

"Oh! I guess now you are the one suffering from memory loss. Our boys who stay with you in this house and are 3 years old." I said sumgly.

"I don't know what carp are you talking. You have lost your mind! Now get out!" She tried to sound stern, but failed miserably.

At that moment our boys chose to make an appearance.

"Mommy!" They chirped.

I turned to look and them and my eyes widened. They were a replica of me from my childhood. Even if there was the slightest doubt in my mind about them being mine, it just vanished into thin air.

"Yes babies? What's the matter?" Paisley asked in a warm motherly tone and my heart swelled with pride.

"Uncle Luke, said you both will take us to the parwk. Why are you both taking soooo long?" Asked the little boy with a mole on the left side of his eye.

"Mommy has something to finish, darling, as soon as it will be done we will leave. Till then. please you and Ryder go and play with the toys Uncle Luke got you." Paisley cupped the little boy's cheek, love shining in her eyes. The love only a mother could show.

I knew what was she trying to do, she was trying to get my kids away from my presence, but that certainly wasn't going to happen.

I faked a cough which caught the twins attention and made my presence known to the them.

"Who is this mommy?" Asked the other boy who pressed himself against Paisley, wanting to shield himself from me. I took this as my chance to introduce myself to them.

"I am...." I was saying but was cut off by Paisley.

"He is mommy's old friend sweetie." Paisley responded quickly.

Oh, how she prevented the chance of the boys being introduce to their father. Does this mean she never told my kids about their own father? I wouldn't let it slide like this.

I crouched down to their level and said "Hi Boys. I am your mommy's old friend. What are your names?"

"I, am Nowah and this is my bwrother Rywder. What is your name?." Enquired toddler with a mole.

"My name is, Kyle" I replied swallowing the lump in my throat my voice thick with emotions.

My heart clenched on hearing their names. These were the names we always thought for our boys if we had. Even after so much, she still chose the same names. If she would have hated me so much she could have chosen different names that didn't remind her of our past, but she didn't. This means here still a chance. I assured myself.

"How old are you both?" I asked.

"We are 3 years old." Ryder answered lifting his three fingers in the air making me chuckle at his innocence.

"And where is your dad? I asked and truned my face towards Paisely.

My eyes started to tear up on hearing his question. This was the question that always made me feel absolutely helpless whenever the boys asked.

Noah and Ryder are too small for all this mess, so I decided not to tell them anything about their father.

"He is at work mommy told us. You know he alwaaays works we have nevwer seen him." Ryder said looking in my direction for conformation and I weakly nodded.

Kyle who was already looking my way hardened his gaze.

"We don't know his name." Noah complained.

"His name is Kyle." Kyle said.

"Oh that's same as yours!" Noah said giggling.

"Mommys friend do you know him?" Ryder asked with glint of hope in his eyes.

"Of course, I do buddy." Kyle said giving me an accusing glare.

"Will you please tell daddy to come and meet us? We tell mommy to call daddy, but she says he's buwsy." Noah pleaded and my heartbroke at my child's plea.

That is something I never knew, how could the boys miss someone they didn't even know? Suddenly the immense guilt filled me and the tears that were till now were at bay, freely flowed.

I felt horrible like I was the most terrible mother for keeping the boys in dark about their father.

Luke who till now was standing patiently looked my way clenched his fists.

"Okay! Who wants to go for swings to the park with Uncle Luke?" Luke asked clapping his hands, faking a smile towards the twins.

"Me-me!" Noah and Ryder exclaimed together raising their hands and jumping.

"For that big boys, go and change. So, that we can leave." Luke said.

"Bye Mommy's friend!" "Bye Uncle Kyle!" The twins said beforing running off to their room. They never forget their manners.

"Bye." Kyle whispered behind them.

Luke stomped behind the twins not before giving Kyle a deadly glare and intentionally shoving him aside with his shoulder.

"You have kept me and the boys away from each other for too long, Paisley. That won't happen anymore, I will make sure of it". Kyle completely turned to me and walked closer.

"You can't do anything, Kyle. I wouldn't let my boys live under your influence." I spoke in a determined voice. I was going to shield my kids from this man, I was going to make sure to keep them away even from his shadow.

"Believe me, baby you don't have a choice. I have the full right over you and our boys. You are still my wife! So there isn't anything you can do about it." He stated arrogantly.

"I am not your wife anymore! Get in that filthy head of yours. Don't you remember you made me sign the divorce papers by fooling me? I am sure I don't need to remind you about it now, do I? After all, you were very proud of your sinister plan!" I mocked him.

Regret washed over his face and his eyes reflected hurt.

Ya Right! I said to myself and mentally rolled my eyes.

"I know I made a mistake. I regret it, love. I want you and our boys living together as a family. Please forgive me." He lamely said and I let out a sarcastic laugh.

"Mistake!? Mistake is something that is done accidentally, Kyle." I almost yelled at him. Taking a deep breath I continued. "You were very well known of your actions. So, you dare not call it a mistake! As far as being a family is concerned it will never happen. I won't let it happen! You are nothing but a LYING MONSTER! All you do is for your own benefit. Don't even say you regret it, cause I know you don't. One more thing, I.AM.NOT.YOUR.WIFE! Stop saying that pathetic thing again and again. The only thing I regret in my life is getting married to a manipulative fool like you." I spat.

"YOU.STILL.ARE.MY.WIFE, Paisley! I never filed those goddamn divorce papers. We will be together, Mrs.Redmond whether you like it or not." Kyle spoke with such confidence in his voice that I scoffed.

"What do you mean you never filed the papers?" This time I yelled. "I signed them and you threw me out that night saying we were divorced. What hell is going on? What kind of sick games are you playing with me again?"

"I could never find it in my heart to file them. I always knew what I did was horrid and unforgettable. The guilt and regret inside me never allowed me to go ahead with it and besides that I love you too much to file them and finish off everything between us." He said, his voice almost cracking.

"You mean we are still married?" I whispered.

"Yes, baby!" He said, his voice softening down a notch.

With that he kissed my forehead and walked out without saying another word.

Leaving me caught up in this whole mess and my mind reeling on his words that he loves me......
