Chapter 5

As I drove I felt like the stupidest woman in the world. How long has he been doing this? All those times he couldn't come in because he needed to rest were probably complete bullshit. How could I not see this? Darby never liked him and now I know why. She could see right thru him. Kade even questioned it. Kade.

I pulled his card out of my purse and dialed his number.

After only one ring he picked up.

"Change your mind babe?" His husky voice filled my ears.

"Actually I did am I too late?" I tell him and even I can't believe what is coming out of my mouth. What the hell was I doing? Did I really want to go with him to Vegas?

"We just took off but if you want to come I'll put this plane back on the ground and wait for you, babe." He states and I can't believe he would stop the plane for me. My emotions are all over the place and I just want to get the hell out of here.

"Yes, I do Kade! Thank you I'll be there as soon as I can get there." I tell him as I press the gas to get home.

"How about I send James to pick you up it will be faster ok?" He says. He is being so good to me I really don't deserve it I haven't been very nice to him.

"Ok! Thanks, Kade you have no idea how much I need this."

"Your welcome babe I'll see you soon."

I hang up and call Darby.

"Hello?"

"Dar! I need you to pack me a bag. Put party dresses and stuff you'd wear to Vegas in it." I tell her excitedly.

"Huh? Vegas? What are you talking about?" She asks. "You aren't going to elope with Grant, are you?! Please don't do this Addi."

I laugh. "God no Darby I'm going with Kade. He invited me earlier and after what just happened I need to get out of here. Please just pack for me I'll be there soon."

"Ok, I'm packing. What happened Addi? Are you ok?"

"I caught Grant with someone else," I tell her holding in the tears.

"That asshole!! I knew it! I'm so sorry Addi. I'm packing now I'll see you when you get here be careful!" She hangs up.

Ten minutes later I open our apartment door. "I'm here!" I yell to Darby. I go into my bedroom and she's got my stuff out all over my bed.

"Ok so I packed you some dresses and some jeans with cute tops, heels, pajamas, bikini, and I put you some lingerie in there just in case. What else do you need?"

I laugh. "Underwear? Makeup? A toothbrush maybe?"

"Right! Ok, I'll get your stuff from your bathroom you get underwear." She goes into my bathroom.

"Thank you for doing this Dar!" I yell at her.

"Your welcome! Now, what happened? Did you confront his cheating ass?" She asks.

"No, he doesn't know I know. He never even seen me. I saw him with some brunette through the window and I just left."

"You let him get away with it? Why didn't you knock on the door and kick his ass!" She yells as she comes out of the bathroom with my stuff.

"I don't know I didn't want to deal with it. I'll figure it out. I'm definitely breaking up with his ass but right now I just need a break."

"I get it! Go have fun with Kade." She winks at me and I laugh.

"I'm not rushing into anything with him Dar. It's just a weekend trip ok?" I tell her.

"Whatever you say!" She grins. "Now do you have everything?"

"I think so." I put my charger and my iPad in my suitcase and zip it up. "I've got to go, Kade, is sending the limo to get me."

"Awwww how sweet of him." She grins and I roll my eyes at her. "Text me and let me know everything ok? I love you now go have fun!" She hugs me and sends me out the door.

When I get downstairs the limo is already there waiting. I step outside and a man I'm assuming is James smiles at me. "Ms. Hayes?" He asks.

"Yes sir that's me." I smile politely at him.

"Let's get you to the plane shall we?" He states taking my bags and opening the limo door for me.

"Thank you, James," I tell him sliding in the limo.

"Your welcome Ms." He smiles closing the door. A second later the limo begins to move and fifteen minutes later I see the airport come into view. I suddenly felt nervous of the idea of a whole weekend alone with Kade. I hadn't thought to ask if anyone else would be there. I mean why would he be going to Vegas by himself? And what would we do when we got there? Would we share a room? I began to panic a little was I really ready for this? The limo came to a stop and James opened the door. "Right this way Ms.," He said smiling. He got my bags and lead me over to the plane. He handed me my purse and my suitcase. "Just go up the steps Kade is inside waiting."

"Thank you, James." He nods and walks away.

I climbed the steps and entered the plane pulling my suitcase behind me. I took a shaky breath and tried to calm my nerves as I walked deeper into the plane. I see Kade sitting in the back with headphones in. He looks up and sees me. He takes out the headphones and stands up smiling.

"Glad you decided to come." He says coming toward me. He stops in front of me and takes my suitcase putting it in storage for me. He looks so sexy, I've never seen him in casual clothes. He is wearing jeans and a white button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up. I look down and notice his bare feet. I grin up at him.

"Thanks for inviting me."

"Of course babe make yourself at home. We'll be in the air soon." He states making his way back to his seat. I follow him and set my purse down in the seat across from him. I slide off my heels and sit down.

"Do you have any vodka? I need a drink." I ask him and he laughs.

"Thought you didn't drink often." He asks grinning at me.

"I don't but after the day I've had, I need something. Plus I haven't flown very much so I'm a little nervous." I tell him. The flight didn't really make me nervous he did but I wasn't going to tell him that.

He pushes a button overhead and a petite redhead appears. "Allison, can you get Addi a drink?"

"Yes sir. What would you like Ms?"

"Vodka and soda with a little ice," I tell her just then my stomach growls and Kade laughs.

"Did you eat lunch Addi?" He asks. I shake my head no. "What would you like? Allison can get whatever you want. You need to eat something."

"Um, a hamburger and fries? I guess." I say nervously.

He grins. "Sounds good I'll have the same Allison and bring me another. " he shakes his empty glass at her.

She smiles at him. "Yes sir." She leaves us and I smile at Kade.

"Thanks."

"You don't have to keep thanking me Addi. It's my pleasure to help you. Now, are you going to tell me what happened or make me pry it out of you?" He smirks.

"What do you mean?" I ask like I don't know what he is talking about.

"Something must have happened for you to change your mind and come running to me. You made it very clear that you didn't want to come. So what happened?" He gives me a determined look and I know he isn't going to drop this.

I took a deep breath and looked down at the floor. "I saw Grant with another woman," I said quietly, when Kade didn't reply I looked up at him and he just nodded. He didn't look surprised at all.

"What you don't have anything to say?" I asked him.

"Not really. I sort of figured this would happen eventually." He shrugs.

"What? Why didn't you say anything?" I yelled at him.

"Because you wouldn't have listened to me anyway. Grant has a reputation for using women. I'm surprised he made it two years without getting caught." He states as Allison comes back with our drinks.

"Geez, thanks, Kade. That makes me feel better." I huffed at him and took my drink. He laughs.

"Sorry but it's the truth. Forget about him Addison you deserve much more." He takes his drink and sips it. I nod and down my drink. "Slow down you need to eat first." He warns.

"You want me to forget, this is how I do that," I say shaking my empty glass at him and he grins.

"There are other ways to forget Addison. I could help you with those." He states as his eyes darken and a look I've never seen before comes over him. Chills ran through me and I shivered. Oh god, what have I got myself into? I'm not ready for this. So I decide to play it off.

"I'm not interested in any of those ways to forget Kade. We are friends just having fun ok?" I tell him seriously. We could be friends, right?

He grins. "Whatever you need to tell your self babe." The overhead lights flash and he grabs his seat belt. "We are taking off. Buckle your seat belt."

I do as I'm told and put my head back against the seat preparing myself for take-off. Within a few minutes, we are ascending into the air. It was a fairly smooth take-off I was expecting much worse. Once we were in the air the lights flashed again and Allison appeared with our food. I unbuckled and began to eat. We ate in silence. Once we were finished Allison came to collect our trash. She leans close to him brushing her arm against his as she takes his trash. She grins at him and he doesn't seem to notice.

"Bring us another drink, Allison," Kade tells her not even bothering to look up.

She bats her eyes at him and smiles. "Yes sir." She says in a sweet seductive voice and as she leaves I laugh.

"Something funny Addi?" He smirks at me.

"Allison wants you and you are blatantly ignoring her," I tell him shaking my head. "What's wrong she not your type?"

"No, she's not you." He breaths and my eyes widen.

"Kade, we are friends remember?" I say nervously.

"Friends don't kiss each other the way we did Addi. I know your hurt and confused right now so I'm not going to force the issue yet but the sooner you accept that something is going on here the better off we'll both be." He said tightly and I could see he was annoyed with me. Great now I've pissed him off. Ugh!! Friends? Really? Why did I say that I should have said I wasn't interested or was I? I looked at him and I couldn't help but noticed how good he looked. His eyes met mine and he gave me butterflies. Oh my god. No man has ever given me butterflies maybe I do like him.

Allison came back with our drinks and my head was spinning. I'm not entirely sure I should be drinking around him. Who knows what that might lead to but for once in my life I didn't care I wanted to forget and I wanted to have fun. I took my drink and downed it. Kade laughed shaking his head.

"Getting drunk isn't going to fix anything Addi." He gets up and moves to the seat beside me. "I know you are confused right now. I can see it all over your face. Let me help you, Addison. I can uncomplicate everything for you if you let me." He leans closer to me looking into my eyes. At that moment I didn't care about anything else I wanted him to help me no matter what that meant. I nodded and his lips met mine. He kissed me slowly. I ran my hands through his hair kissing him harder. As he glided his tongue along with mine I climbed over the seat and into his lap wanting to be closer to him. He ran his hands down my back and rested them above my ass. The more he kissed me the more I wanted him. Soon we pulled away both breathless and needing air. He smirks at me.

"Still think we're just friends?" He asks. I shook my head no unable to speak and he laughs. "We have an amazing connection Addison and I want to explore that. I want you. Forget about Grant. Be mine." As he speaks he runs his hand across my cheek looking into my eyes.

I know if I stay in his lap I'm not going to be able to resist him and this is going too fast I need to stop this. I stand up and move to the other seat.

"Kade... I... " I struggle for the words to explain.

He huffs at me. "Look I get it. You are confused and I'm rushing you. I'm sorry I'll back off ok? I just wanted you to know how I felt."

"Let's just have fun ok? Give me some time to wrap my head around everything. We'll talk about this on our way home ok?" I beg him.

"Ok if that's what you want babe but you should know I don't do the whole relationship thing very often in fact I hadn't in years so that should let you know how serious I am about you." He states and I look at him in shock.

"Years? Seriously? So what you are the playboy everyone says you are Kade?" I ask curiously.

He huffs taking a drink, looking pissed off. "I'm no saint babe but those girls knew what they were getting themselves into. I never lead them on."

"So you expect me to trade one cheating asshole for another?" I asked him bitterly.

He set his cup down and stands up. He looks so pissed. "I have never cheated on anyone Addison. I've had plenty of one-night stands but like I said before they knew what was happening and they didn't care. If you were mine I'd never hurt you, Addison." He growls at me.

"Kade I'm sorry I didn't mean to upset you." I grab his hand and he stares at me. "I'm sorry please can we go back to having fun?" I beg him. I really didn't like seeing him upset and I felt guilty for pissing him off.

He nods and wraps his arms around me. "Sorry I got so pissed but I don't want you to think I'm like Grant. I didn't use those women Addi. It was just sex and they knew it. There were no relationships or feelings. I haven't had a girlfriend in years."

"Why not Kade?" I ask looking up at him.

"Because I haven't found anyone special, most girls just like me because of who I am or they are after money. They aren't special like you." He kisses my forehead and I smile up at him. "So about this fun? What do you want to do in Vegas?" He grins.

"Um, I don't know I've never been there so everything?"

He laughs. "I can arrange that. We will gamble and party. But I do have a meeting while we are here. You can come with me if you want, you might learn a thing or two." He grins.

"Sounds good. I'm sure I could learn a lot from you Kade." I say laughing.

"Oh, babe you have no idea." He winks.
