Chapter 478 – Gold and Silver

It felt like Su Qiao was scared away by both me and Ai ShuQiao.

Su Qiao knew Ai ShuQiao was cold-hearted, but thought I was a good person. But her impression of me changed after she thought I kidnapped Fu ShiJian and had one of his ears cut off.

She was grateful I helped her dissolve her contract, but at the same time she was stuck between me and Ai ShuQiao while trying to be a spy for both sides. Who knows what would happen to her if it was revealed, so she thought it would be smart to leave first.

I felt like Ai ShuQiao wouldn’t let Su Qiao off so easily. Ai ShuQiao doesn’t like others fooling her and she wouldn’t be happy seeing one of her chess pieces escaping.

The ‘one eared’ Fu ShiJian was downcast ever since he escaped a narrow death. He was always overly suspicious, so he was quickly transferred back to America by Ai ShuQiao to become an unimpressive office worker.

Fu ShiJian had a lot of complaints since the new job didn’t put him into contact with young girls and it didn’t pay a lot. Once, he got drunk and complained to others about how Ai ShuQiao threw away people after they become useless, and she didn’t care about how much he’s done for the company that was against the law.

The following day, his corpse was floating in one of Los Angeles’ sewer channels. The police came to the conclusion it was because of an overdose and they didn’t suspect foul play.

I felt when the LA police says they ‘didn’t suspect foul play’ was as fake as when people say ‘Chinese house pricing is low’.

But it was already summer break by the time I found out Ai ShuQiao had silenced him. Of course, Fu ShiJian was still alive on the day Su Qiao went home. I was also still worried about things that needed to be handled.

The most pressing matter was that I had to lead class 2-3 to a victory over Shen ShaoYi’s class 2-2 next Wednesday. I also had to score most of the points as that was the only way for me to get food from the class leader’s home while not drinking Fu Yan Jie.

Another problem was if the child between Auntie Ren and my dad would get born.

In my perspective, if Auntie Ren can pull my dad out from the shadows of his last relationship, then I would support the two of them getting married. It’s a shame Auntie Ren was determined to get an abortion and also rejected my dad’s proposal. Who knows if there would be a change of plans as things move along.

“Xiao Ye Zi, you don’t have to always put on a long face because you don’t want to act as Jin Ling Young Thug.”

Director Cao said to me in the afternoon, where he invited me out to discuss about the film.

“Xiao Ye Zi, watch me tease the female salesperson and cheer you up.”

He adjusted his beer belly then walked towards the salesperson with an attitude of a boss. He spoke to the female salesperson with an overbearing attitude:

“Do you sell gold?”

Perhaps it was because the store hasn’t made a sale yet today, so the female salesperson said excitedly: “Yes, which one do you like?”

Director Cao put on an act and peered inside the counter, then said:

“I like both gold and silver, do you guys only sell gold here?”

He said as he pretended to be prepared to leave.

The female salesperson got anxious and said in a hurry: “Sir, we sell silver here.”

Director Cao refrained from laughing and asked: “Where do you sell silver?”

The female salesperson still didn’t react and pointed to a counter on her right, “Over here…”

She then saw one of the janitors passing by who was covering her mouth and laughing. The female salesperson finally realized it and tried to look for Director Cao, but he had already ran away while pulling me up the escalator. (TN: The joke is a pun where sells silver sounds the same as selling sex a.k.a prostitution)

“Jie jie jie jie jie, pretty fun, right?” Director Cao clutched his belly and laughed on the escalator, “It’s interesting making the salesperson politely say she sells silver to the customer.”

I have to admit, it was pretty entertaining to watch the salesperson who didn’t realize she was being tricked.

Director Cao told me he wanted me to hurry up and act in the second episode in the walk in freezer scene.

It might feel great to act in a freezer on a hot summer’s day, but I told him it would have to wait until at least next weekend, until the basketball tournament was over. Director Cao already heard from his son that I had to drink Fu Yan Jie if I lost, so he understood and pushed the acting date to next Saturday.

“Do your best to not lost.” Director Cao patted my shoulder and said, “Fu Yan Jie might smell good, but it definitely doesn’t taste good.”

I was shocked: “Director Cao, when did you drink Fu Yan Jie?”

Director Cao scratched his stubble and sank into his memories, “When I was in university, I realized a lot of good looking girls had the smell of Fu Yan Jie on them. An overweight lady with heavy eyeliner who was adorned with jewels saw Ai Mi walk in with a dog but the security guards didn’t say anything, so she grabbed onto a floor manager who was passing by and said:

“Are you guys blind? When I brought our Nao Nao here, you guys wouldn’t let us in, but why are you guys not doing anything when the little brat comes in with a giant Husky?”

The skinny floor manager said: “Miss Ai Mi’er is a special VIP, and our general manager said if there’s anywhere we could relax the restrictions….”

When the overweight lady heard, she got even more mad and placed her hands on her waist:

“I also buy a lot of things from your mall, so why don’t I get special treatment?”

She said as she blocked in front of Ai Mi with her wide body and caused a scene: “I don’t care. If you don’t let our Nao Nao enter the mall, then other dogs can’t enter either.”

The floor manager looked back and forth between Ai Mi and the older lady like who couldn’t offend either side.

Normally, Ai Mi would definitely order Peng TouSi to kick aside the fat lady, but she was probably in a good mood because she was on break today. Ai Mi pushed her sunglasses up a bit and put on an act for the overweight lady.

“Who’s talking? My dog is a guide dog, I can’t walk without him.”

“Huh.” The overweight lady looked at Ai Mi’s sunglasses, then looked at Peng TouSi. Peng TouSi cooperatively made a painful expression as if to say Ai Mi was blind. The overweight lady was ashamed and quickly apologized:

“I’m sorry, I was wrong, please don’t be offended…” then she escaped towards the front entrance.

Before she left, she curiously looked back at Obama. Perhaps she felt Obama looked too dumb to be a guide dog.

Right after the overweight lady left, Ai Mi greeted me, “Hey manservant, come play with me.”

The guide dog, Obama, also passionately barked at me.

Ai Mi took off the sunglasses and revealed her bright eyes. The overweight lady would have been pissed if she saw.

“Miss.” Peng TouSi said seriously to Ai Mi, “Please do not eat too much junk food or you will get ulcers again.”

“I know, I know.” Ai Mi impatiently urged Peng TouSi to leave, “Go take a walk outside with Obama, the manservant with accompany me.”

After sending Peng TouSi and Obama away, Ai Mi brought me to the food area so I could treat her to cola. She began to chat with me after she had her fill.

“By the way, Winnie called me a few days ago and asked if you were gay.”

“What did you say?” I never thought Winnie would ask Ai Mi for confirmation.

“I obviously said no. Isn’t it enough to have one gay person beside me?”

I breathed out a sigh and drank a gulp of tea.

“Hey manservant, after Winnie confirmed you weren’t gay, she complained to me and said you took advantage of her… hahaha, I never thought you would be so sly and even lie about that to take advantage of her…”

“It’s all a misunderstanding.” I tried to explain, “I already told Winnie multiple times, but she didn’t believe me. I only took advantage of her in the sense where she was careless, it was never intentional.”

“Okay, okay.” Ai Mi waved her hand like she suddenly became my senior, “Although you’re my personal manservant, I don’t mind if you get into a intimate relationship with Winnie.”

“Why?”

Ai Mi smiled and said: “Because you said you will love me forever and that you belong to me. Winnie also swore her loyalty to me, so she also belongs to me. If two things that belong to me like each other, that will only increase our group spirits and there’s nothing wrong with it.”

“Maybe, I could even ask Winnie to have a kid for me…” Ai Mi mumbled.

“What did you say?”

“Nothing. Were you imagining it? A useless manservant also has useless ears.”

After mocking me for a bit, Ai Mi said: “It’s almost summer break, right? How about I send you and Winnie abroad on vacation during summer break.”
