Chapter 664: My New Condition
I'm Not Going to Be Bullied By a Girl
Chapter 664: My New Condition
When I awoke, I was lying inside Ai Miâs RV, being examined by Ai Miâs personal doctor, Dr. Yu SuiLiang, on a slightly narrow surgical bed by various instruments.
This was the second time I entered the RVâs first aid room. The last time was when I was protecting Ai Mi and got injured by a dead tree.
X-ray machine, cardiac ultrasound machine, UV sterilization light, automatic biochemical analyzer, surgical bed and lighting⦠looks like there were more equipment than last time.
âYouâre awake.â
Dr. Yu usually does not wear those Google glasses when he treats people, which makes him look much more reliable while he is in a white doctorâs gown.
But he still had a cotton swab in his mouth in lieu of a cigarette, which he only just removed when he saw me wake up in order to talk to me.
âCongratulations, your sex change operation was a successâ¦â
If I hadnât known that he liked to joke with his patients, I would have been absolutely shocked and lifted my pants to check.
I tried to get up, but I felt a sharp pain in my chest, so I had to reluctantly lie down again.
âYe Lin.â Dr. Yu raised an eyebrow while looking at the various test results, âDo you have a history of heart disease?â
âHeart disease, no way.â
An ominous feeling rose up inside me while answering Dr. Yu in a vicious tone.
Dr. Yu did not really think much of it and continued to speak in a flat tone: âWhile you were unconscious, you had tachycardia twice, one with a ventricular flutter, so it seems like symptoms of heart disease.â
âIsnât it because Iâm hungry.â I suggested.
âIâve already given you a dextrose injection and youâre now back to normal blood sugar levels, but there is something in the blood that Iâm not sure ofâ¦â
âItâs not snake venom?â
âThat bite wound on your foot?â Dr. Yu put the printout of the results on the analysis table and took a step closer to me, âThe toxin of that snake evolved to target cold-blooded animals. It is very lethal to cold-blooded animals, but itâs practically harmless to warm-blooded animals. The reason why your foot is swollen is because you had a mild allergic reaction.â
I tried moving my left calf, and sure enough, the symptoms were much better. It might have had to do with the fact that Xiao Qin helped me suck out the toxin.
After ruling out other possibilities, I had to admit to Dr. Yu: The blue butterfly, the Blue Moore Armenian butterfly, was eaten by me and I suspected it was a poison.
âThere were symptoms of tachycardia immediately after eating it?â Dr. Yu showed a very curious expression, âDid it happen within 3 seconds, or was it after 10 seconds?â
Who would have the leisure to count the seconds after eating an insect? Is there even a big difference between 3 and 10 seconds?
I told Dr. Yu I couldnât remember, anyway, my symptoms were probably caused by eating the butterfly and being poisoned.
Dr. Yu held his chin and thought for a while, then he re-read the result printouts before saying seriously, âItâs hopeless.â
âHopeless? Why are you such an irresponsible doctor?â I was so angry that I sat up from the bed, but this time my chest did not sting.
âEven if I really canât be saved, shouldnât you have a bit more tact in front of the patient? Why canât I be saved and how long do I have to live?â
âSince the toxicity of the butterfly is unknown, your life expectancy is also unknown.â Dr. Yu clicked his tongue, then asked irresponsibly, âIs a $500,000 butterfly delicious?â
âDelicious my ass, itâs awful.â I gasped, âDo you really think Iâm like Bear Grylls, where everything tastes like chicken.â
I was really anxious and regretful. In a moment of confusion, I ate a tiny butterfly as a meal. It wasnât even converted into calories and I was also poisoned.
If I got too excited, it felt like I would have a heart attack again. I have always been super confident in my own Spartan physique, but now it made me want to cry.
âItâs a shame about the $500,000.â Dr. Yu misunderstood my expression.
âIt doesnât matter, there will still be chances later.â He made an optimistic gesture towards me, âAi ShuQiao also set a bounty in Armenia at the same price. After all, itâs the Blue Moore Armenian butterfly, so there would be more of them in Armeniaâ¦â
Who has the time to go to Armenia to catch a butterfly? Iâve already had many heart attacks because of this butterfly, what would I do if I die in another country. Also, why is Ai ShuQiao so dead set on getting this butterfly?
I noticed my clothes was still on my body, but my watch, cell phone, and other miscellaneous items were all gone.
I was shocked, but looked around and saw them on an enamel tray on the table, so I calmed down.
I canât forget to delete the note I left in my phone later. Also, who sent me texts during my disappearance? I was a little curious, so letâs check it later too.
Suddenly it occurred to me that Dr. Yu said, âThe butterflyâs toxicity is unknown, so my life expectancy is also unknownâ. From this perspective, the note really may not be meaningless.
âWill I die of a heart attack caused by⦠the butterflyâs toxicity.â I asked Dr. Yu seriously.
âYou should have already died.â
âEh.â
âI mean, I looked over your data againâ¦â Dr. Yu fished a cigarette out of his pocket, but put it back depressingly after thinking about the presence of a patient.
âThe intensity of your heart attacks decrease each time. If my guess is not wrong, the first attack right after you ate the butterfly was the most violent, right?â
I nodded, it was the feeling of being incredibly close to death that prompted me to write the note.
âHm, itâs because your heart is still young and youâve gone through a long period of physical exercise, so you were able to withstand the first attack⦠you were luckyâ¦â
âI want to see the composition of your heart muscle with my own eyes, so if you happen to die in front of me, about your remains, can Iâ¦â
âI will absolutely not let you autopsy me, just give up.â I yelled, âIâd rather feed it to Obama than give it to you.â
âYoung people are so unreasonable.â Dr. Yu calmly wiped away the spittle I sprayed onto his face, his eyes suddenly averted, âThe fact that the scale of your attack has been reduced does not mean that you can rest easy. Even if the heart disease caused by the butterfly is cured, there is no guarantee that the toxin will not be transferred to other organs.â
âSoâ¦â I said, âI am still in danger of dying in the near future.â
Dr. Yu nodded.
âHowever, you donât have to be too pessimistic. I will do everything I can to provide you with first-class treatment conditions, and my sponsor doesnât want you to die right away yet.â
Ai ShuQiao liked to keep the prey she was interested in alive, so she wouldnât just let it die until she got tired of playing with it.
âSince the Blue Moore Armenian butterfly is very rare, cases of eating it are even more rare. You are also a rare patient thatâs hard to come by, so I will bet my dignity as a doctor to try and cure you.â
Although he was one of Ai ShuQiaoâs men, Dr. Yu still said to me with a very endearing enthusiasm.
âI can even put aside my dignityâ¦â
âWait, you just said you would bet on your dignity, but now youâre putting aside your dignity? Are you trying to cure me to death so that you can perform an autopsy on me?â
âWhy donât young people wait until people finish speakingâ¦â Dr. Yu frowned, âI mean, in order to cure you, I can even put aside my dignity to ask for help from my Stanford colleague, a pharmacology genius known as the âPoison Kingââ¦â
After Dr. Yu mentioned it, I just remembered when Ai Mi introduced Dr. Yu, she said: âYu SuiLiang is the most amazing doctor in my Momâs company, (big gasp) his classmate.â
So that colleague of yours in the best doctor in Ai ShuQiaoâs company. If a strange person like you is calling him a genius, then heâs definitely not your average person. Or is it because you have a double doctorate in medicine and engineering, so youâre not as skilled in pharmacology as your colleague, so thatâs why you have to ask him for advice in the treatment of my poisoning?
The problem is that his nickname sounds very ominous, âPoison Kingâ. Did he make methamphetamine and sell them to drug dealers to earn extra money?
âIn case I canât even cure you with his helpâ¦â Dr. Yu pondered for a while and handed me a leaflet that looked like a science fiction novel pamphlet.
âYou can also consider this âHuman Freezing Resurrection Programâ, the minimum period is 20 years, so as long as Miss Ai Mi is willing to help you pay for itâ¦â
Who wants to be a popsicle? All you want to do is further your own plans of making a cyborg! Who knows if only my brain will be left 20 years later for you to transplant into a Terminator robot.
I lowered my voice and pleaded with Dr. Yu: âUm, about my current physical condition, can you can keep it a secret from others?â
âI canât keep it a secret from my employer.â Dr. Yu told me honestly, âUnless you pay me even more money.â
âThereâs no need to keep it a secret from Ai ShuQiao.â I said, âYou just have to keep it a secret from my father, my friends, and my classmates.â
After a pause I added, âAnd especially not to Ai Mi.â
âOkay.â Dr. Yu shrugged, âIâll help you hide it as long as it doesnât go against my employerâs will.â
âJust tell them that I was too hungry and that Iâm fully recovered now.â
âAre you sure?â Dr. Yu rested his hand on his chin and observed me like some kind of special specimen, âIf they fooled around with you without knowing, then your heartâ¦â
âI thought you said each attack would be weaker than the previous one.â I squeezed out a smile, âAt most I would suffer a little. Itâs better than being treated as someone who will die and crying around me all day longâ¦â
