Chapter 54: 49- The truth

SPY ✔︎ DEREK HALEWords: 11734

THE OTHER DAY, LYDIA HAD CALLED HAZEL AND TOLD HER ABOUT STILES AND HAVING THEIR FIRST KISS.

Let's not forget, Hazel hated the part when she said that she needed to visit Derek but wouldn't go alone.

So there they were now. Peter sliding the door open when when they both froze. Lydia stood still and was shocked as hell.

"You." She whispered in shock.

"Me." Peter played along like he was in shock too to which Hazel rolled her eyes with.

"You."

Peter looked to the ground as he sighed. "Me." He looked up to her and called out. "Derek! We have visitors."

He slid the door wider for them to walk in as he closed it again and walked right after. Hazel sighed, never planned on coming back ever since last night.

It just didn't feel right at some point when they were already gathered up and discussing it.

"You don't know where it is?" Lydia questioned. "But Stiles said you'd been there."

"We have. But after a few memorable experiences there, Talia, Derek's mother and my older sister, decided that she didn't ever want us going back. She knew how dangerous it was, and took the memory of its location from us." Peter explained.

"But then how are we supposed to find it?" Lydia wondered.

Peter tilted his head, agreeing with her. It was a whole mess. Now they had to find out how they were supposed to find it.

After that, the two wanted to go but Derek was the one to stop Hazel. She could bang her head against a wall, already regretting to have come with Lydia.

Hazel stood there as he looked up to her. The two stared at each other, none of them saying anything. Peter that was right beside them, seemed pretty awkward.

"The other night... when Jennifer told you that you are some weird creature and that you tried to kill her..." Peter knitted his brows as he looked towards Hazel. "what did she mean by that?" He tilted his head up.

That's when suddenly her heart started pounding fast that Hazel knew Derek could hear.

Hazel licked her lips as she looked around. "It was nothing. She's a liar, remember?"

"Yeah, but I don't think that she would say it just like that after you spoke up about Lydia." He stated.

Hazel wasn't going to give in when she only kept staring blankly at him with her heart still beating fast.

"When we were stuck by the elevator, she told me the day you barged in the class room. Looking like something she never knew or saw. She told me you had dark veins under your eyes... and gold eyes along with fangs—"

That's when Peter stood up straight in a swift motion and stared right at Hazel that had her heart beating faster than ever which already lead her to a panic attack that she tried to hide.

"Dark veins?" Peter hardly stared at her as he was getting angered. Let's not forget, he looked harsh too saying it.

"That's what she told me. And who is Adam by the way? She told me that a brother of his which is Eren, turned you." How the hell did she found that out? She was one hell of a manipulator.

Before Hazel could speak, Peter launched at her and grabbed her throat pressing her to the nearest wall as Hazel choked.

Derek quickly stood up and walked a few steps behind Peter. "Peter let go." But his uncle was so angry that the two didn't take their eyes off each other. "I said let go!"

"I'm just in a very bad mood right now because she had kept something secret that I would have to know earlier." Peter harshly spatted as he stared with anger at her.

Hazel slowly saw black dots surrounding her eyes when she didn't realize that her eyes were slowly closing.

Derek noticed and began to panic. "Peter let the hell go of her! We can talk this out calmly!"

Peter really didn't want to but then remembered it was the sister of Scott and sighed before releasing his harsh hold on her making her fall down the ground as Derek rushed to her.

He grabbed her head and placed it on his lap as he pulled a few strands of hair away from her face. "Hazel, wake up."

"You see Derek. We trusted someone that's been close with a very dear and old friend of mine that I thought I killed. Seems like Jennifer is something else." Peter tried to keep cool.

"She is nothing better than Hazel. You shut it, alright?!" Derek said over his shoulder and looked back to the girl.

"You know what? I'm just gonna head to out and come back later. If she hasn't spoken any word about this, then there will be no tomorrow for her." He said walking out.

But Derek would never let that happen. First he was going to take care of her.

Hazel shot up as she quickly glanced around in panic already panting. She crawled back against the wall, and wrapped wrapped her arms around her legs that were close to her chest.

"Hazel, Hazel." Derek knelt in front of her with hands lifted up to her in a reassuring way. "It's okay. You're fine."

Hazel couldn't get any more air when the panic attack hit as she started sobbing and ran her fingers through her hair.

"Hazel, breath." Derek stated but Hazel couldn't since tears were glowing in her eyes and someone rolling down her cheek. "Hazel, listen to me and just breath."

But she only shook her head. "I— I can't." She started crying in fear. "I need someone."

Derek became concerned as he moved to sit next to her and wrapped his arms around her and put her head on his chest. "Just... listen to my heartbeat."

Hazel tried and did when she heard his heartbeat. And through her hearing she could only hear his heartbeat and slowly calmed her breathing as she leaned against his chest with closed eyes.

Derek that had his head against the wall, sat there, spending a few moments till she was able to calm down.

He couldn't describe the feeling he was getting but it was definitely a feeling he would love to feel everyday. And then he knew that Hazel was the only one to ever give him that feeling.

And it all came on his mind then and realized why she had been so distant and rude with her look that changed also.

She was the one that caught him when he saw his door left open a bit. He knew it was Hazel that caught them.

That's why Hazel turned out to be something different now. And the hate for Jennifer for being so rude at her explained everything.

Derek couldn't blame her. He never would. Because it was him that made a mistake. He was the one that made Hazel go like this.

He looked over to see Cora on bed, sleeping when he looked back down to Hazel that had her eyes opened. She felt comforted and safe laying on his chest. No fear, no panic and no worries.

"You okay?" He quietly asked, looking down at her.

Hazel didn't reply which Derek took it as an answer. She was too relaxed now and just felt too tired now after the exhausting moment she witnessed.

Realizing what was actually happening, Hazel picked her head up and sat up straight against the wall.

Hazel didn't wanted to utter a word but then she also remembered that she needed to give an explanation.

"Jennifer told you." Hazel spoke up, asking but did not make it sound like she was.

"Yeah."

The girl nodded slowly in return and looked down. "It's funny how you didn't discuss it privat with me but had the urge to do it in front of Peter. But uh... he needed to find out somehow, so it's all good."

Derek nodded when he turned his head to her.

"Why did Peter react like that? Because then, he definitely knows something I don't. Or something that he has never told me."

Hazel sighed as she slowly trailed her eyes to meet his. "Peter was friends with my partner David. He killed him and David's soul was the only thing alive. After the night Scott was bitten, I kept hearing these voices that no else did. And when David showed himself, he explained that my brother connected David's senses to me. Because Peter killed his best friend to have more abilities and had them carrying around in him. But that doesn't end up good for him since he's going to find out now. Then, the mysterious Eren came a couple days ago and I unexpectedly met him by the stairs after the night we were in the woods, looking for Cora and Boyd. We met and began explaining each other our stories and that's it."

Derek watched her the whole time when he tried to find out more. He was still curious. "How come you are a creature then? Who did this?"

The brunette sighed and rested her head against the wall, not sure if she wanted to begin the situation. But then Derek still sat there and waited for her to say something.

"I overheard your conversation with Peter in the woods. How he wanted to get you out of the situation that we were stuck in. And unexpectedly, you listened to him. I can't say that Peter is wrong for saying that Scott is the true Alpha. Then, a couple days later, I realized that it's been kinda weird between us so I wanted to talk to you. When I arrived I just... wanted to turn back and leave, wishing I never saw what I did. The way you kissed and me watching was already enough. So I started panicking and ran out of the loft and got in my car. I sped all the way down the street when my vision went blur due to my tears and didn't realize that I was driving towards a tree until it happened. Eren found me after a few seconds and carried me out while I went unconscious." Hazel inhaled. "The next day, I woke up with the worst headache ever and was curious when the two were in my room, watching me. Then I remembered everything and... I just asked them a question David couldn't answer but Eren. He told me that if he would've never turned me... I would have died. There was no other option than to drink his blood. A few hours later, we were learning how to experience things as a non-human being. My eyes were first red when they formed... which means that you haven't eaten blood or meat. And when Eren snapped a girl's neck, he bit the side of her neck and blood dripped out—"

"Then you tasted it and now your eyes are gold." Derek finished on realization as he slowly looked to Hazel just to meet her eyes. "You're a—"

"Vampire." Hazel finished straightly when the two stared at each other.

Derek didn't know what to say or do. Because there was so much to be shocked for, sorry and curious for.

He sighed and and rested his elbow on his knee that was bend up, letting his head rest on his hand as he went silent.

Hazel paused when she opened her mouth to talk. She noticed that it was kinda uncomfortable by the situation. "Is that bad?" She whispered, trying to sound steady by the awkward moment.

"I don't know, Hazel." He sighed. "You just went from Human a couple days ago to a Vampire, that I didn't know about. Eventually, Peter should've told me. But I can understand the pain you felt because of me. And it's my foult. That's why i'm truly sorry." Derek looked at her.

Hazel scoffed slightly while looking down and not her lip as she shook her head. "Don't." She whispered.

Derek furrowed his brows at her. "What do you mean?"

Hazel closed her eyes as she looked up to the ceiling to think of an answer before she looked back down. "I don't want you to be sorry, Derek. Not because I forgive you..." Hazel whimpered her eyes at him. "but because it's too late." She whispered. "I mean, look at me. I am not human, i am not what people usually recognize me as and believe me Derek... I don't know if I am someone to love anymore."

The two stared at each other for a few seconds. Hazel's eyes were steady but emotional behind, Derek's were obvious.

"I turned out to be something no one would ever choose. And you know what?" Her face went blank while she leaned her head that was turned to Derek against the wall. "I don't even care." Hazel inhaled as she stood up and made her way out. "Don't reach out to me, Derek."

S/T: Don't let me down.
