"WHAT'S A KANIMA?" JORDAN ASKED WITH SCOTT AND LYDIA STANDING THERE WITH DEREK AND HAZEL IN HIS LOFT.

Lydia dragged her eyes to Scott that was unsure of how to answer that to a Deputy. "We'll get back to that." He trailed on the sofa to face him. "Just know that everyone like us, everyone with some kind of supernatural ability is on the dead pool."

"I don't even know what I am." Jordan said, completely confused.

Derek grinned at that humorless. "I'm pretty sure they don't care."

"How many professional assassins are we talking about?"

"We're starting to lose count." Lydia said.

"But is it still just professionals?" Scott wondered. "

"I don't think Heigh's ever tried anything like this." Jordan said. "I think he was taking a chance."

"That means anyone with the dead pool can take a chance." Derek said with crossed arms and Hazel the exact next to him.

"But if Heigh had it, then who else does?" Jordan wondered to him. "How easy is it to get this thing?"

Lydia as always was smarter than that as she spoke up about Meredith that was the most possible answers to the keys. "Meredith was only at my grandmother's lake house once. But I think once was enough."

"How did your grandmother know her?" Derek asked her as he was leaned against the wood, staring at her.

"She didn't." Lydia shrugged being sat on Derek's bed. "She found her. Because if another woman named Maddy. The woman she loved." She sighed and stood up and stepped towards Scott, offering him a picture of her and her grandmother. "I never met her, but I saw her name everywhere. She used to be part of yacht racing team. There were plaques and trophies in the lake house from all the regattas she'd won."

"How did she die?" Jordan with his questions, proceeded her to answer.

"How's not the story. It's what happened right before. My grandmother, Lorraine, used to work in San Francisco for IBM." Lydia turned to walk. "She was there on a weekend. She was there catching up on work. She started hearing this sound... like rain. But when she looked out the windows... all she saw was blue sky."

"But she kept hearing the rain?" Scott said.

"And it just kept getting louder." Lydia said. "Rain and thunder, cracking the gunshots in her head. So loud. She finally just screamed."

"Like a banshee." Hazel spoke up.

"She called Maddy, who was planning on taking one of the boats out on the lake. But Maddy said the sun was shining there too. So Lorraine didn't say anything."

"There was an accident."

"It took them four days to find Maddy's body. And then it took decades to figure out how Lorraine knew. She started with parapsychologists, like the phD in their name made it more scientific. They built the study in the late house, according to pseudoscientific theory they could find. None of it worked. Then she started getting into more extreme occult. Things like medium and psychics. All of them were failures. Until Meredith. They found her at Echen House. The fragil girl who didn't understand the things she heard. They brought her to the study. And they almost killed her. She was hospitalized for over a year. She—" Lydia shook her head. "never really recovered. My grandmother drove her insane. And I drove her to suicide. And all she ever wanted to do was help." She pulled out a paper as they all gathered around in the table. "My grandmother created the code for the dead pool. They think she's the banshee, who put the name out in the first place." They examined the paper filled with coded drawings. "She left me this message in the same code."

"But she didn't leave a cipher key, did she?" Scott questioned and Lydia just shook her head at that.

Hazel lazily laid on the couch as the fire cabin next to her was soothing her moment. She was waiting for the brothers to show up at any moment since she hadn't heard news from them.

Hazel and the others still had time enough to figure things out by what had been going on for the past few days.

But what even confused Hazel more was David and Eren not having informed her at once like they always did.

At that moment she felt something off. And it was her stomach having a knot feeling, making her freeze and slowly sit up in wonder.

Everything was quiet around her but the air still was thick around her. And that's when it showed up.

The quick sound of an echo, speeded right past her as she stood up and looked around. Hazel turned around to look if there was anything in the kitchen.

There was however no sight of anything so she took the chance to swiftly turn around until she came face to face with an unfamiliar man right in front of her.

He had blue eyes and dark blond hair as he stared with a calm but also cocky expression at her. He had that grin on his face that kinda reminded her of Eren when she encountered him.

Hazel breathed and was too frozen to move a single step as she was busy looking into the man's eyes.

"Hello love."
