Cole's POV
"So where are you going?" Blake asked me as we were driving back home.
"I was going to take her shopping or something," I shrugged, "Then maybe ice cream, or Jump n' Fall."
I looked out the window, as I had shotgun and Shawn had the back seat. In his face.
Blake nodded and kept driving.
"Somethings bothering you Blake," Shawn said.
"Yeah I'm pissed," Blake turned his attention to me, "She had your damn picture. The picture of when we went surfing. Where the hell did she get it?"
I shrugged, "I let her see it."
"That's not like you Cole," Shawn said, "Hell, you never let us touch it. And we're your brothers. Not just brothers, but triplet brothers."
I layed my head back in the chair, "Just shut the F up."
"Fine," Blake muttered. A couple seconds went by, possibly a minute before I got the courage to ask.
"So what about you guys?" I asked.
"I have to do that damn project, remember?" Shawn said.
"Right," I looked over at Blake, "You?"
Blake grinned, "I'm going over to Melissa's house. Possibly score some points."
I laughed along with Shawn.
"Melissa? The girl from art class?" I asked.
"That one," Blake said.
Shawn chuckled, "She's your favorite play toy."
Blake laughed, "Haven't you been in bed with her?"
Shawn chuckled, "No. I've been in bed with her sister."
I laughed, "I hear Melissa is better than the sister."
"Says who?" Shawn asked.
"Me, duh." Blake said.
"You've been with both!" Shawn said.
He laughed, "Why do you think she broke up with me last year?"
Shawn laughed, "And your still going to score some points today?"
Blake smirked, "Yeah. She begs me to go."
I laughed, "Of course."
Shawn chuckled, "So Cole who's your victim this year?"
"Brittany," I said.
"You've already been in bed with her," Blake said.
"And who says she's bad," I said with a smirk.
We all laughed and Blake shoved my head while Shawn wacked the back of it. Finally we reached home.
"I'm out, see you sissies later," Blake said. We got out of the car and Blake drove off.
"So Brittany?" Shawn asked.
I rolled my eyes, "And your after Sherry?"
Shawn laughed, "Well who wouldn't be. She looks like she got a boob job."
I pushed Shawn and he shoved me back, and thats how we entered the house. Once we did I saw Suzie sitting at the counter with a pencil in her hand.
"Hey Suzie," I said, "You ready?"
She looked up, "I'm stuck."
Shawn smirked, "I'm gonna go get the project box, have fun."
Shawn made his way to the basement. I rolled my eyes and walked over to Suzie.
"What do you mean stuck?" I asked.
"You said I needed to have my homework done. Well I just have to do this page, but I'm stuck." She looked down at her paper and I looked over her shoulder.
"Ok, ummm..." I read the instructions, going back to fourth grade. Math, great. This shouldn't be hard. Dividing fractions.
Suzie frowned in concentration and then groaned, sitting back in the chair, "I don't get it!"
I chuckled, "Come on Suzie, you can do this."
I pointed at the sheet of paper and started skimming it, "Which don't you understand? "
"Number seven," Suzie muttered, "Tori told me the whole keep it, change it, flip it. But I keep getting a weird answer."
I chuckled, "Suzie that's because it's already set up to divide."
She jumped up and looked at the sheet, "What?"
I pointed at the multiplication sign in between the fractions, "See?"
Suzie laughed, "Now I feel stupid."
"Come on, finish up and we'll go." I said chuckling.
I went to the fridge and grabbed a water bottle. I went over and sat next to Suzie watching her do her work.
She finally circled her answer, "Done!"
I laughed, "Ok lets go."
I grabbed the keys to my car. Yeah we each had our own car. But we always used Blake's, it was bigger, more comfortable. Suzie hopped off the chair and ran to the garage, I opened the door for her and we both walked out to my car.
"Can I ride front?" Suzie asked.
I raised an eyebrow, "Your nine."
"Yeah so....can I?" She asked jumping up and down.
I sighed and opened the door that led to shotgun, "If I see a police officer I'm telling you to duck, and don't froget your seatbelt."
She squealed in excitement and got in the car, "Thanks Cole. Your the best." She said putting on her seatbelt.
I chuckled and went around the car and into the driver's seat, "Ready?"
She nodded, "So where first?"
I started to back up the car into the driveway and then onto the street, "I was thinking we go to the mall. Then get some ice cream there. And the Jump n' Fall. Sound good?"
She nodded, "It sounds awesome."
I laughed. Suzie wasn't bad after all. She was funny and cute for a nine year old.
She reached her hand over and turned on the radio.
"Oooohhh I love this song," She said then started singing, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Stand a little taller...."
I laughed again. She started to dance in her seat and I watched her and the road at the same time. It was just to good to miss.
After about half hour of Suzie singing and dancing in her seat, I finally reached the mall. I parked the car and looked at over at my stepsister.
"We're here," I said.
She grinned, "Yes. Finally!"
We both laughed and got out of the car. Suzie walked beside me and I kept my hands in my pockets.
I looked down at her, "I don't need to like hold your hand, do I?"
Suzie started to laugh, "What? No. I don't do hands, neither does Tori. Holding hands creeps us out."
"Really?" I asked.
"Yeah. I mean its awkward if your hand is sweaty and then its gross if the other person has a sweaty hand. Holding hands? Never," She said.
I chuckled and we walked into the mall. It wasn't that crowded, after all it was Wednesday.
"So where to?" I asked Suzie.
She shrugged, "We were gonna get a purse or something. Right?"
I rubbed the back of my neck. Dammit, I don't know where to buy a little girl's purse. I wasn't even sure I could find a real purse. Now I wished I had gone shopping with my mom more often. Actually....no. Nothing is worth that torture.
"Yeah," I said as we walked around, "Know a place?"
Suzie chuckled, "You have no idea do you Cole?"
I shrugged and gave her a smile, "Not a clue."
She laughed, "Just follow me."
So that's what I did. Suzie went into some shop and I followed her. I stuck my hands in my pockets and yawned as I watched Suzie look at the different bags.
Suzie shook her head, "Let's go."
She grabbed my hand and led me out the store. She later dropped my hand as we reached the exkt if the store, I walked beside her.
"Everything ok?" I asked.
She shrugged, "Yeah I'm just looking around. Everything is really expensive." She gave a sigh.
"Suzie don't worry about the price ok? If you like something, I'll get it for you, ok?" I said. And really I would.
She nodded and we kept walking around. She abruptly stopped in front of a store window. I looked over and smiled.
"You like that backpack?" I asked.
She nodded and smiled.
"Ok let's go," I led her in the store.
She grabbed the small mini backpack that had the England flag on it. It closed with a draw string and a flap with a magnet. With some small pockets on the sides and front. It wasn't really a purse, but it was small enough to be considered a small bag instead of a backpack.
I looked around the rack and found a small wallet that instead of being the England flag it was the United States flag.
"Suzie," I called to her and held up the wallet for her to see, "And a little America too?"
She giggled amd nodded, "Yeah it shows I'm both."
I laughed, "And you can put your money and the picture in here."
She nodded and added, "AND it fits perfectly in the backpack."
I smiled, "Ok lets go pay."
Suzie grinned and pulled up the ticket, about to look at the price. I quickly snatched the bag from her hand so she wouldn't see the price.
"I told you not to worry about that," I said.
"But Cole I don't want you to waste so much," She whined.
"You don't even know what it costs," I replied.
She crossed her arms across her chest and gave me a pouty face.
I got down on one knee so I was eye leveled to her, "Suzie do you like this bag?"
She looked down at her feet, "Yeah."
"And the wallet?"
"Yeah."
I smiled, "I promised to get you a purse or something. I don't break my promises, especially to beautiful little girls like you. So if you like it, I'm going to get it for you, ok?"
She nodded and kept looking down, but I could see the smile. I got up and we walked to the cashier. I payed for the bag and the small wallet and we walked out of the store. Then sat at a small sofa in the middle of the mall.
I pulled out the wallet, "You have the picture?"
Suzie nodded, "Yeah right here," She pulled out the small picture of me and my brothers with our dad.
She handed me the picture and I opened the wallet to the small clear compartment. I slipped it in and showed it to Suzie.
"There, see?"
She nodded and smiled, "Thank you Cole."
I smiled, "Ok now the backpack."
I grabbed the backpack and put the wallet in it. Suzie smiled the whole time. I helped her put the backpack on and she grinned.
"There now you all set. Is it comfortable?" I asked.
She nodded, "Yeah its awesome."
"Good," I said chuckling, "So wanna get some ice cream and then we head to Jump n' Fall?"
Suzie nodded and we started walking to the food court. I found a Brusters and Suzie never stopped smiling. When I looked down at her I couldn't help but laugh. She looked really happy. Suzie looked up and at me and started to laugh.
"What?" She asked.
I shrugged, "Happy?"
She nodded, "Yup and now I'm getting ice cream and then I'm going to Jump n' Fall! Who wouldn't be happy?"
I laughed and we reached the small Brusters, "I'll have a cone with Cookie Dough."
Suzie looked over, "I'll have a cone with Strawberry."
The lady nodded and got us the ice cream. It was pretty big and I didn't think Suzie would finish it.
"Wanna walk around or sit and eat the ice cream?" I asked.
Suzie thought for a minute, "Walk around. That way I can see the different stores."
I nodded. This girl is pretty smart. She can act like a five year old sometimes, but I think its just for fun. Other than that she is really smart.
We walked around the mall. Looking through the windows of some stores and just passing by others. Suzie stopped in front of a window of a shoe store. I mentally groaned. I hate shoe shopping, only if its for my cleats or something.
I went over and looked in the window. I was slightly shocked to see some indoor soccer shoes. Next to some awesome Puma Ferrari shoes. Then there were some sick Nike track shoes.
"I like the Puma's," Suzie said licking her ice cream, "Because thats a really cool red. And it has the Ferrari symbol on it. But also because I love Puma's."
With that she kept walking. I stared at the shoe for another second before walking off with Suzie.
"So why don't you get them?" I asked.
Suzie laughed, "A hundred and twenty-five bucks. I'm better off buying five different pairs of shoes."
I chuckled and kept eating my now really small ice cream. Suzie was half way through with hers.
"Cole I'm full," She said after a minute.
"You can go throw it away over there," I pointed towards a garbage can and she walked over.
"Cole?" Said a voice behind me.
I turned around and faced one of my ex-girlfriends, "Oh hey Nila."
She smiled, "What are you doing here?"
"Ummmm....just-"
"Cole where to now?" Suzie asked.
Nila looked at Suzie and back at me, "Babysitting?"
I looked down at Suzie and she looked up at me. I was about to say something but Suzie intervened.
"Yeah," She said, "Cole is the best babysitter ever! He got me ice cream!"
I grinned and Nila smiled.
"Well see ya at school Cole," Nila said walking off, "Call me."
I gave her one wave and turned around thinking, what a slut. Then I looked down at Suzie.
"Why'd you say that?" I asked.
She rolled her eyes, "Because its obvious that you don't want her to know I'm your step sister."
I scratched the back of my head, "Uhhh...well."
"Its ok Cole," she said smiling, "Besides, you are like a babysitter. And you are the best babysitter I've ever had."
I smiled, "Ok lets head to Jump n' Fall."
I threw away the rest of my ice cream and we walked outside and to the small sidewalk that led to Jump n' Fall. Finally we reached a huge building. And by huge I mean, HUGE. It was like half the size of the mall! I opened the small double door they had as an entrance and me and Suzie slipped in.
"Welcome to Jump n' Fall," The lady at the counter said, "The specials are up here."
She pointed to the board over her head and I looked at it. Suzie did too. I couldn't help but chuckle at some of the names. They were so cheesy, it was plain stupid.
"What do you think Suzie?" I asked looking down at my step sister.
She shrugged, "How about one ticket to everything?"
"Make that a wrist band," I said to the cashier. With a ticket you could only do things until you ran out of tickets. With a wristband you could do anything you want until it expires, which would be twenty-four hours.
Suzie looked at me wide eyed.
"Don't worry, we'll have fun." I said. The lady handed us two wrist bands. I helped Suzie with hers and then put mine on.
"Come on, lets go!" I said jumping up.
Suzie laughed and rolled her eyes, "You sound like a little kid."
That made me laugh, "Well Jump n' Fall always makes me act like a little kid."
Suzie laughed and opened the other set of double doors that led into the room with inflatable slides and stuff. She laughed and I smiled.
"Oooh that one!" She grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the inflatable with the pirate ship and shark jaws. Taking off our shoes, we showed the man our wristbands and he let us through. Suzie climbed up the pirate ladder, all the way to the top. I followed her and once I reached the top I looked down. There were shark jaws at the end that would close and open.
Suzie laughed and jumped down into the jaws. I laughed at her as she was eaten up.
"Cole! Get down here!" She yelled. I laughed and stood up, jumping to the bottom.
When I hit the bottom I lost balance and fell. My impact made Suzie jump up and when she landed she was laughing.
"That....was....AWEOME!" She said through fits of laughter. I laughed along with her and we got off to a different slide.
After a good thirty minutes of inflatable slides, Suzie spoke up.
"Cole can we go to the trampoline room? Pleasseeee," She said giving me a smile that showed all her teeth.
I laughed, "Of course. Let's go."
She squealed in delight and she practically dragged me to the trampoline room. We carried our shoes in our hands, and then set them down at the entrance of the room. The guy asked for a ticket, we showed him the wrist bands. He let us through giving us our own trampoline room. After all there were like what? Ten rooms?
Suzie squealed again and I laughed.
"What?" She asked jumping on the trampoline, "Haven't you heard the saying 'Squeal like Miss Piggy?'"
I laughed and nodded jumping up on the trampoline, "Yes I have."
"Then that's what I do," Suzie said, "I SQUEAL LIKE MISS PIGGY!"
She yelled and laughed, bouncing on the trampoline. I bounced next to her and then on the wall trampoline. Suzie laughed and bounced on the wall trampoline also.
In midair I caught Suzie and we both fell. I landed first and she landed on my stomach. We both eroded into laughter.
"Why'd you do that?" Suzie asked in the middle of a laugh.
I shrugged, "I don't know, it just seemed funny."
We both laughed some more. While Suzie was laying down I jumped up and down on the trampoline, causing her to bounce up. She couldn't control her laughs or giggles and sometimes they made me laugh.
I was having fun. I was having fun with my step sister, who is nine years old. But she was fun. She was smart. She was a little kid. She was....different.
"Cole, I-I can't breathe!" She said laughing so much her face turned red, "My side hurts from laughing so much!"
That caused me to laugh and I fell beside her, not being able to hold my balance. We were both panting from all the jumping and laughing.
I checked my phone for the time then at Suzie, "Hey. Lets head to the jungle. Yeah?"
Suzie smiled and nodded her head. We slipped out of the trampoline room and grabbed our shoes. Slipped them on and headed to the Jungle room.
We looked through the small window, the other side showed the Jungle. It was a huge park looking thing with rope bridges and small zip lines that you would hang onto. And if you fell, you'd just fall into a pit of foam squares.
Suzie jumped up and down with excitement. We showed the man our wristband and he let us through. There were some other kids that were playing around. I'd probably be the oldest kid, but there were some parents that were sitting around watching their children.
Me and Suzie entered and started at the small rope bridge that led to the park. Suzie was in front of me and she would walk ahead. Once we reached the top of the park thing, we had to move around obstacles. There were giant, rolling cylinders that we had to squeeze through. Suzie got through easier than I did.
She giggled when she saw me struggling, "Cole are you stuck?"
I smirked, "No."
But as I tried to get my hips out, I couldn't. I groaned, "Yeah I think I am stuck."
Suzie laughed and grabbed one of my hands pulling hard. I felt me slipping through and finally I got out. The sudden release caused Suzie to fall back and I laughed at her. She just gave me a playful frown, which caused me to laugh harder.
After the cylinders we had to move through a spinning cylinder. As we went through I tried to keep my balance from rolling around randomly. Suzie laughed.
"Cole this is weird," she said trying to keep her balance.
I chuckled, "Yeah and its making me dizzy!"
She laughed and fell, the cylinder rolling her around. That only made me and her laugh harder. Her head ended up on the bottom and her legs were flying up. As it rolled even more she flipped over onto her back. I helped her up and we made it out of the cylinder. On the other side we had to swim across a ball pit.
I grabbed Suzie around the waist, she screamed and I threw her into the ball pit. I laughed and she looked at me with frown. She suddenly grinned and picked up a blue ball, throwing it towards me.
"Ow," I simply said. Suzie laughed and started throwing those colorful plastic balls at me like it was her job!
"Ow! Suzie!" I said blocking as many as I could, "Quit it!"
We were both laughing and finally I just jumped into the ball pit. There were some other kids but they seemed to be doing their own thing, so we just ignored them. I made my way to Suzie and she jumped up and down in the pit.
I picked her up and carried her at my side. Swaying her back and forth like my school books. She laughed and screamed, hitting my arm and hands. I chuckled and walked across the ball pit, which was significantly hard. It was just like walking out of water, except sometimes I'd step on a ball and have to bite my tongue so I wouldn't curse out loud.
We reached the other side of the ball pit and I placed Suzie at the edge, later jumping out and sitting next to her.
Suzie giggled, "You look tired."
"I am," I said looking over at her and grinning.
Suzie laughed, "We still need to get down. And we have to get through the swirly slide, the step by step rope bridge, and then the zipline that leads us out."
I nodded, "So let's go!"
I jumped up and pulled Suzie up with me, soon we were heading to the swirly slide. I groaned. It was enclosed and small! I mean I didn't think I could fit through it. Suzie laughed.
"I'll go down first and then I'll pull you down," She said confidently.
I chuckled, "Is that necessary?"
Suzie looked from me to the slide, "Yes."
"Ok then," I said. Suzie smiled and sat down at the entrance of the slide. She looked back at me and giggled before she slid down the slide.
This girl is so weird, I mentally thought shaking my head. But of course I had a smile. Who wouldn't love Suzie she was lovable.
I took a deep breath and sat at the slide.
"Cole! Come down!" Suzie'svoice echoed through the slide.
"Ok, ok, I'm going." I pushed myself with my arms and slid down. Surprisingly I didn't get stuck. When I landed on the bottom Suzie was looking at me and she started to laugh.
"What?" I asked her.
She was laughing so hard she couldn't talk, so instead she pointed. She pointed up at my hair and went back to laughing hysterically.
"You-your hair! It's all static!" She managed to get out. I rubbed my head and felt my hair sticking up.
"Ha ha so funny," I said patting my hair down.
"No wait I need to take a picture!" She whined.
I smirked, "You don't have a camera."
"Darn," she said with a pout.
I laughed and grabbed her hand getting up and leading her to the next thing, "So the step by step rope bridge huh?"
She jumped up with excitement, "Yup. And then the zipline!"
We reached the step by step bridge and Suzie went first. I placed my foot on the rope and swayed back and forth. After Suzie was a couple ropes ahead I started to walk more. This bridge was leading us up to a platform. I moved faster and soon I was behind Suzie without her knowing. Using one foot I pushed the rope she was on and she screamed then turned back to me.
"Don't do that you meany!" She stuck out her tongue at me and I stuck mine back which only caused her to erode in giggles.
We reached the platform and there was a small zipline that would cause us to land in the pit of foam squares. Suzie grabbed it with her hands and looked over at me.
"Can you push me?" She asked.
"Of course," I grabbed her around the waist and rocked her back and forth, "One....twooo....three!"
I let her go and she went flying down the line, laughing the whole way. I chuckled and watched her until she jumped off I to the foam squares.
"Cole! Come on!" She yelled. I chuckled and grabbed the rope conected to the handle. It somewhat worked like a pulley. I pull on the rope and the handle would come back up. And let me say that this rope is thick and strong. I remember when I was little and I came with my brothers, we saw a guy that looked like Santa zip down.
Once the handle reached me I grabbed it and jumped off, zipping down. When my feet were about to touch the squares I jumped off and landed on my back. Suzie rolled around and struggled to get to me. It was hard getting out of these squares. I mean the pit went down a good ten feet, it was just the squares that made a soft landing. Finally Suzie reached me and she was panting and breathing hard, "That was soooooooo much fun!"
I laughed, "Wanna head to the arcade now?"
She nodded and we started making our way out, which took longer than I thought. As we left the jungle room, we picked up our shoes and slipped them on. Suzie still had her backpack and I guess it really did come in handy. A backpack was better than I purse, I guess. I mean I've seen mom struggle with the purse, the constant pulling up the straps over the shoulders. Or the, 'Oh my god! I think I left my purse at checkout!' So in a way, yeah backpacks were better, and they hold more.
We walked into the arcade, at the very end there were a couple booths to eat. We looked around the different machines that each made a different noise. Some of the lights on the machines flashed here and there and I saw a counter where you can receive a prize with the tickets you collect. Suzie looked around with a huge smile.
"Cole this is awesome!" She squealed.
I laughed, "We haven't even done anything in here."
She shrugged, "Sooooo its still awesome!"
I grinned, "Lets go get some coins."
She nodded and we both walked to the counter.
"If you have a wristband you get a special discount," The girl at the counter said.
I grinned and showed her our wristbands. She smiled and pressed some buttons on the cash register. I payed and she handed me and Suzie a small bag of coins.
Suzie took hers and I followed her to whichever game she chose. Fianlly she picked one.
I laughed, "You want to play 'Aliens?'"
She nodded with a grin and stepped on the small stage thing. She picked up the gun, I shook my head and stood next to her with the other gun.
"Have you even seen the movie?" I asked putting in two coins in the game.
"Yeah. Really creepy if you ask me," She replied.
"It's rated R," I said positioning my gun.
"Yeah. So? I always watch rated R movies if they're old. Like Terminator and Predator." She said.
"Sounds like your favorite actor is Arnold Schwarzenegger," I said with a chuckled.
Suzie laughed, "How'd you guess?"
I glanced at her for a second but her eyes were locked on the screen as the game began. I turned back and pulled the trigger as some alien crawled its way to me. Suzie found a rifle and started shooting at the aliens like nuts. I did the same but used a machine gun instead.
"Cole watch out," Suzie said. But the creature already reached me, I was out. I watched Suzie and she lasted about half another round before she was taken too.
"How are you better than me?" I asked her. And seriously I was curious to why she was better than me. I mean shouldn't a seventeen year old guy be better than a nine year old little girl?
She chuckled, "Jealous?"
I shoke my head, "No. I'm curious."
Suzie shrugged, "It could do with the fact that I play Call of Duty on Tori's PlayStation."
I laughed, "Of course."
We moved on to another game that would give us tickets, unlike the last. Suzie put in her coin and moved the joystick around. I watched her and helped her out yelling which way to turn and stuff. In the end we got twenty tickets. That wasn't that bad. Twenty tickets, not bad at all.
"Let's go check out the carnival section," I said. Suzie grinned and we headed to the section where there were different stations. Each had giant stuff toys and cheap games.
"Oooh Cole that one!" Suzie tugged at my arm and pointed at the dart balloons. I chuckled and we headed towards the dart balloon station.
"Five coins lad," the man said to me. I pulled out five coins from my pocket and handed it to him. He grinned and handed me three darts. Suzie sat on one of the stools and watched me as I pulled back and threw the dart. I hit one of the balloons and then went on to ths second dart, getting another balloon. The I went on to the thrid dart. This was to easy, I thought, duh this place is for little kids. I hit the third balloon and Suzie laughed.
"What?" I asked her as the man rang some cheesy bell.
She shrugged and tried to look like she didn't say anything, "Nothing. You just made it seem so easy."
The man handed me a sock monkey. I laughed at it and then turned to Suzie, "Would you like it?"
Suzie grinned and grabbed the sock monkey holding it to her chest, "Isn't he adorable?"
I laughed, "Sure Suzie."
She stuck her tongue at me an looked back down at the monkey, "Cole how does the name BoBo sound?"
I broke into laughter, "It sounds awesome."
Suzie grinned and pulled her backpack off, squeezing BoBo into her backpack. She left his head sticking out and I couldn't help but smile. We moved around to the different games and stations. We won really weird stuff. I got a coupon for some restaurant that I had never heard of. Then Suzie got a ctton candy, but she was fine wih that. I got a plastic ring, a weird crocodile figure. And Suzie got a rubber duck with a pirate eye patch.
Suzie and me sat down on one of the random stools that stood in the middle of everything. Suzie looked into her bag of coins and I looked into mine.
"We have enough for another arcade game," I told her.
"What about my twenty tickets?" she asked.
"Save them for next time," I simply said.
Suzie nodded and put them in her backpack, "So what game?"
I shrugged, "You can pick."
We walked around the arcade for a while until Suzie stopped at one of the games. It had a set of drums, a guitar, and a microphone.
"Can we play this one?" She asked.
I grinned, "I call drums."
Suzie smiled and picked up the microphone. I put in our last coins and Suzie scanned the screen.
"Cole want to go random?" She asked.
I shrugged, "All these songs are old and cheesy."
Suzie laughed, "I know but come on."
I sighed, "Go random."
She nodded and chose random. I watched as different songs passed by the screen. Finally it stopped.
"Aw man," I said. Suzie just grinned at the screen where it read, 'Bubbly by Colbie Caillat.'
"Ok," I breathed out. The song started and I lightly tapped the drums as it instructed. Then Suzie started to sing and honestly I was shocked to hear her voice, it was.....really good. Better than good, it was amazing for a nine year old.
" I've been awake for a while now. You've got me feelin' like a child now'. Cause every time I see your bubbly face. I get the tingles in a silly place. It starts in my toes. And I crinkle my nose. Wherever it goes. I always know. That you make me smile. Please stay for a while now. Just take your time," Suzie kept singing until the final verse, " Wherever you go. I always know'. Cause you make me smile. Even just for a while."
Suzie took a deep breath and put the microphone down. I stopped with the drums and watched my step sister for a minute as she grabbed the tickets we earned.
"Suzie!" I yelled and caused her to jump, "That was amazing!"
I got out of the drums and hugged her. She laughed, "Thanks Cole."
"Your so good Suzie!" I said again and got up.
She blushed and looked down. That only caused me to smile.
"Come on lets have some dinner," I led her to the booth where we ordered some pizza.
"Suzie seriously did you ever consider singing lessons?" I asked as we waited for the pizza.
She shook her head, "No. And if you think my voice is good, you should hear Tori's. She used to sing me to sleep."
I nodded, "Where did you two learn to sing like that?"
Suzie shrugged, "Mommy and Daddy used to sing to us both, but Tori inherited most of those genes."
The pizza arrived and we both picked up a slice. When we finished I pulled out my phone and relized two things. One: I had a missed call and Two: it was getting late and everyone was probably eating dinner. Great.
"Suzie we better get heading back," I told her.
She nodded and I payed the bill before heading out. We walked towards my car and Suzie got into the back seat instead of the front. I didn't argue and just got in the driver's seat and started the car. It was already dark and Suzie just looked out the window, her eye lids drooping every so often.
Thirty minutes later we reached home. Suzie was still in her seat so I got out and made my way to her door. I opened it and she looked at me and yawned.
I chuckled and placed her on my back. I really didn't mean to open the door so hard and when we walked in Suzie suprised me by yelling.
"I just had the best day EVER!" She yelled. That must have been her last energy because she then rested her head on my shoulder.
I looked around the confused faces, "I should probably put her in bed."
Bill nodded, "Yeah let me help."
Bill got in front of me and made his way upstairs, I followed with Suzie on my back. When we reached her room, Bill took off her backpack and placed it on the ground next to her nightstand. Then he pulled back the cover to her bed and I gently placed the nearly asleep Suzie. I placed the covers over her body and she looked at me through her lashes.
"Cole where's BoBo?" She asked.
Bill looked confused as ever. I pulled out the sock monkey from her backpack and handed it to her. She took it and placed it under her arm snuggling into it.
"Goodnight daddy, night Cole." She said closing her eyes.
"Night Suzie," Bill said.
"Goodnight Suzie," I said.
We both left the room, Bill turned off the lights on the way out then shut the door. I rubbed the back of my neck, now realizing I was really tired.
"Cole why don't you head to bed," Bill said patting my back and leading me to my room.
"Thanks Bill," I replied heading into my bedroom. I closed the door behind me and stripped down to my boxers before getting in my bed and falling asleep.
Man what a day.
