EPILOGUE

A Bride for my Mate

Ah! The end is here :D

_____________

A

nd go round the world they did.

It was their fourth move in one year and frankly the Leolines were tired of it. They needed a place to settle down. They could still travel the world but they needed a home to return to.

"I'm going to kill you with my own two hands if I have to move again" Amelia huffed as she shuffled around their brand new kitchen trying to familiarize herself once again with the new settings. It has been a week since they shifted here and she still stumbled over little things in the giant house.

Arthur shrugged concentrating on getting the coffee-maker started "It wasn't my fault. The kid saw us"

At their previous attempt to settle down, they had moved to the countryside, of course near a forest and had bought an estate. They made sure they had a stable with a few horses so if someone ever found Amelia strolling around, they wouldn't be surprised. Humans can't tell the difference between a shifter and a normal animal.

Since neither of them had the experience nor time to look after the beautiful animals themselves, they hired someone to take care of them. He would take care of the animals during the day and leave by sunset.

One unfortunate evening however, things turned crazy. Arthur and Amelia decided it was safe to let their animals take over. There wasn't anyone within a mile radius of them. They were wrong of course.

The man in his early twenties was stupid enough to leave his phone behind. So when he returned to grab it, the sight that met his eyes shocked him enough to send him screaming to to the town seeking immediate help.

Arthur was chasing Amelia.

Yeah! That wouldn't look so bad.

Let's rephrase it.

Arthur's lion was chasing Amelia's mare.

Poor kid.

"Don't remind me" Amelia sighed "I just feel so out of place. Will we ever find a place to call our own for the rest of our lives?"

"We have an eternity to find the perfect home" He smiled down at her "We will be more careful this time. I'll keep my guards up when we shift. And I told you, there are other shifters around here. I think this place's worth a shot"

"I don't....."

"Wait" Arthur raised his hand which silenced her. They both stained their ears and nose to focus "Someone's here"

"Humans?" The has humans in their town. It was kind of a buffer zone between the shifters and the humans "Shifters" she corrected herself.

The strangers were not humans. They smelled like dogs....wolves and something else. Arthur tensed up.

"Stay back" he told Amelia "I think it's the neighboring wolf pack members"

"Should we be worried?"

"They aren't savages from what I know" He replied "But stay back just in case they are retards. I can take on a few of them at a time but number is their strength. The stupid dogs breed like anything"

"Retards like you?" Amelia rolled her eyes.

"They are dogs" Arthur scrunched his nose in disgust at being compared to wolves.

"And you are a cat" Amelia poked her tongue out "Do you see me complaining?"

"Fine" he surrendered "Just stand behind me and run at the scent of trouble okay"

Amelia nodded following her mate to the front door. A huge bulky man stood at their door in a pair of faded jeans and plain white t-shirt. He looked like he just rolled out of bed with his bushy hair sticking out in every direction and a face that clearly needed a shave.

The man would have looked intimidating to Amelia had it not been for the two identical heads that popped out from either side of his legs. Amelia almost jumped back when the two little girls peeked up at them with the brightest smile on their faces.

"Hey" The man said gruffly, his voice as thick as his bulging muscles "You guys are the new family that moved in last week?"

"Yeah" Arthur nodded narrowing his eyes defensively and straightening up to display his own equally intimidating physique. Amelia almost wanted to laugh at the men sizing each other up. "We aren't on your property and we mailed you about it last week"

"Whoa there" The man held up his palms "We are just here to make acquaintances. I wouldn't bring my girls with me to fight someone" he pointed at the girls hanging by the two legs of his jeans "Take it easy"

The girls nodded in unison.

Arthur relaxed easing his grip on Amelia's wrist. She walked forward and stood next to her mate taking a careful look at their guests.

"Sorry about that" Arthur said "It's just me and my mate here and I had no idea how many of you...." He trailed "I'm Arthur Leoline and this is my mate Amelia" Amelia returned the smile the man threw her way.

"I'm Daniel Wood, Alpha of Bluewood" The man shook Arthur's hand "And these are my daughters Lily and Rose" He pointed to the one on the left then the one on the right.

They looked the same to Amelia. They had the same pointy nose and the same pouty lips and also the same hazel eyes. Oh wait.....they are green now, the same shade as their dad's. Amelia swore their eyes were hazel a moment ago. She gasped taking a step back.

"Girls" the man Daniel groaned.

"Sorry" the one on the left said. The right one, Rose, simply smirked.

"Why don't you come inside" Amelia offered.

"Nah! It's fine. We just wanted to check on you on our way home. I should have come by earlier in the week but we had an emergency" the man ran a hand through his hair making them stick out more.

"Matt ran away again" Rose supplied.

"Rose" Daniel warned.

"Mommy's going to be mad at you Rosie" Lily said as the Leolines watched on in amusement.

"Anyways" Daniel straightened up "You are on our border so we will see you guys often. We ran a check on you and our pack has decided to accept the reason you chose to move here" He looked pointedly at the two of them "Bluewood is huge and vibrant. Shifters from all over the country come here especially for the medical services we offer. As long as you guys aren't problematic, you are free to check our town out and avail its facilities"

Arthur thanked the man and they had a brief discussion over the security of the woods and the hunting laws in Bluewood. The Alpha then bid them goodbye with a promise of dropping by with his mate someday.

"What are they?" Amelia asked as soon as Arthur closed the door behind the wolves.

"Witches" Arthur answered, amused "Looks like we aren't the only odd people here. I have good vibes about this place. What do you think?"

Amelia smiled at the thought of it "I think we will find out soon" She didn't want to get her hopes high. The last four places had disappointed her.

_____________

Six months passed by without any incident. The Leolines were getting comfortable in Sun Valley, the town between the city and Bluewood. The wolf pack was cooperative. They even invited the Leolines to their celebration when the Alpha's son Mathew turned eighteen.

The kid was pumped about it. He kept screaming 'no longer a jailbait' at random times throughout his birthday celebration.

It was fun.

When Harvey visited his twin, he was pleasantly surprised by the working of the Bluewood public hospital. Apart from the lack of freedom, proper medical facilities were another reason why shifters preferred to stick to their provinces and avoid the human world.

Arthur handed Amelia her morning cup of coffee as they both moved towards the living room. Pulling her close to him, he settled on a couch.

She hummed leaning into him "Why did Keith call this morning?"

"Dad wants to finalize a deal with the Westside group here. That is apparently also why Keith 'accidentally' overheard dad talking about the shifters in this place. The Westside Group has connections with the shifters here"

Amelia laughed "He is forever the businessman"

Arthur rolled his eyes.

"But seriously, when are you going to gather enough courage to talk to him directly and not via Keith?"

"I don't need courage to talk to him" Arthur defended himself.

"Sure you don't" Amelia sang before poking her tongue out at him.

"Yeah?" Arthur tackled her on the couch, pinning her under him "What about you? When's your dad coming around?"

Touché.

"Unlike you, I haven't stopped trying" Amelia answered.

She religiously calls her father every week which he mostly disconnects. Of late though, he has started to hand over the phone to her mother. Amelia even caught a glance of him hiding behind the door once when she video-called her mother.

Her mother hasn't visited her yet but she does seem to be more curious about Arthur as the months pass by. She even asked how Arthur was coping with living so close to the wolves considering the fact that they were dogs and Arthur a cat. That earned him a few brownie points. Amelia was hopeful things were going to change one day and her family and Arthur would one day be sitting in their living room laughing about random things.

Harvey visited as often as he could manage. He was the only one who visited all of their previous temporary homes. Even Rhea joined on his visit last month. The woman really needs friends if she was hanging with Amelia's brother and her predator-hating friends.

The only one from Arthur's family who visited was Alison. She still behaved like she couldn't stand Amelia but Amelia didn't let that discourage her. Arthur needed someone from his family and Alison was her only option. And if Amelia was to be honest, she sometimes enjoyed bickering with the lioness.

Arthur's eldest sister Camilla pretends like she never had a brother. George Leoline on the other hand uses Keith as a middleman to communicate with his own son.

Arthur's mostly okay with it. One drunken night he even expressed his doubt over how he defeated his father in the duel. He swore he felt his father loosen his grip deliberately so Arthur could pin him down.

Scarlett Leoline on the other hand had the worst among them all. She was bedridden for three months after the incident. Arthur tried several ways of bringing her over after that but she refused. She still talked to Arthur and was polite to Amelia but she said she wouldn't visit until she truly forgives her son for not trusting his own mother with his secret. She was mostly hurt than angry.

Things were bad but there was hope in the future, Amelia believed that.

Amelia struggled against Arthur's grip for a while before huffing "Fine. We both have daddy issues" she surrendered hoping to stir the conversation to a something lighter and more productive.

Arthur rolled his eyes "That's so gross Amelia. I need to go wash my eyes to remove that mental image of your father and mine"

"You are the dirty one not me" she stuck her tongue out and Arthur took the chance to kiss her.

"I have never met anyone as crazy as you" he said kissing her again.

"You are as crazy as me. Remember how you swept me away on that jet of yours while everyone looked on?" Amelia grinned "I loved it. The frenzy we left behind when we flew out of the province. Spirits! It was so much fun"

The media was in a storm. Political leaderships were bickering among each other. One of the public groups even set a sum of money on their heads which was funny because Arthur Later bought them with his money. It was wild.

Chaos.

Amelia was scared the first few months but then she started to see the fun in the situation.

"Only you, my mate" Arthur shook his head hopelessly "Only you could find the situation funny"

"But it was" Amelia argued from under him, not the ideal position to get her point through, "It was a dream come true"

"The worst nightmare of our lives was a dream-come-true for you?"

"Of course it was" She nodded immediately "It was my dream to have the most scandalous affair in the city. But look at how kind the spirits were to me, they made sure my reality exceeded my dreams" she said dramatically.

Arthur raised his brow looking down at his mate with an amused smile on his face.

"They made sure we have the most scandalous affair across all five provinces" Amelia declared.

___________ THE END __________

Its oveeeerrrrrrrrr..........

Hahahahaha.....I'm so relieved. This was supposed to be all comedy but if you know me, you know I can't do without drama. The drama seeped in no matter how light I tried to keep it. Tried.

I hope you enjoyed Arthur & Amelia's crazy journey as much as I enjoyed writing it. After Dan & Reanna's darkness, I needed A&A's light. I love them and I love you guys. Thank you for sticking around.....mmmuuuuaaahhhhh....!!!!!!!
