Chapter 128 Shoot!

I got busy with Zoe and forgot about Leo’s injury. Henry’s cold voice resounded in my ears. as he replied to James, “Leo is in the third room. The doctors are tending to his injuries.”

While Bright and I were looking after Zoe, Henry kept a close eye on Leo and reported it to me.

“Leo is shot in the left arm. The ER doctors have paged a cardiologist.”

A sliver of dread touched my spine as Leo’s recent heart surgery hit my head like a sledgehammer. He hadn’t fully recovered yet, and now this!

On the other hand, Bright accompanied sleeping Zoe and called Jane to inform her.

“See, Jane!

Zoe is perfectly alright. We have rescued him!”

Jane’s happy cackling hinted that she was wide awake, the butler and his wife’s gleeful voices in my background relieved me.

They were with Jane to take care of her.

With the promise of coming home soon, Bright cut off the call and offered me.

“You can go to see Leo, Laura. I will stay here with Zoe.”

Bright’s considerate nature warmed my heart as he sensed my unease without judging me. I pressed his hand, expressing my gratitude.

“I can’t thank you enough for your love, Bright. You are my person.”

He kissed the back of my hand and smiled; I found it hard to part ways with him. But as moral duty called, I walked towards Leo’s room, his assistant met me in the hallway.

“The cardiologist has prescribed different tests and scans for Mr. Leo. He is afraid that boss’s heart’s condition isn’t good, unable to suffer this shock.”

Leo’s condition was critical, the gunshot wound had troubled his heart. So, he was again admitted to the hospital. James spread the word and fans began to pray for their idol’s health, they praised him for his valor.

“Mr. Leo has again endangered his life for Miss aura. No doubt, he is her true lover.”

“Whenever Miss Laura needs him, Mr. Leo save her. They are indeed made for each other.”

I visited Leo once before discussing Zoe’s therapy sessions with doctors, his innocent mind. was scared by this traumatizing event. Leo was awake when I entered the room, he raised his eyes and smiled bleakly.

“Is Zoe alright?”

He was worried about Zoe while lying on the hospital bed, it was a refreshing change in his selfish attitude. At least, he cared about Zoe’s wellbeing.

I nodded in response. “He is fine.

Bright is signing his discharge papers now.”

Leo’s visibly taut muscles relaxed after hearing this news, he sighed.

“I don’t know how to apologize to Zoe, Laura. He suffered greatly because of me.”

A whimper escaped from Leo’s lips as he tried to sit up, I stopped him immediately.

“You should take a rest now, Leo. Zoe will live with me until your recovery.

I am sure he won’t blame you for anything.”

Leo’s pale face was an epitome of heartfelt gratitude, he told me how grateful he was for my favor. But his long speech was cut short by Henry, he peeked through the door and said, “Melody is also in this hospital. She tried to commit suicide last night.”

What?

I doubted Melody’s psychological state right after she appeared on my door and caused havoc. She must have gone through immense stress and depression in the prison.

Her recent attempt to take her life alarmed the Jail authorities, so they referred her to consult a psychiatrist. The doctors put a stamp on my suspicion after a complete check–up.

“Melody’s emotional state is unstable. She has a mental health condition: anxiety disorder and severe depression.”

As Melody was a mentally ill person, she was shifted to the psych ward for treatment. Henry took the doctor’s number for follow–

up; he paid full attention to this issue as well.

Melody had inflicted deadly damage on my soul she deserved to be punished harshly for her crimes. But she was sick now, so Henry decided to keep a close eye on her. We could drag her to the court once she was healed.

We returned home together in the afternoon, overjoyed by our safe reunion, Zoe was sticking to my side.

“I prayed to be with you, mommy. Aunt Melody is a bad woman. She always scolded me.”

He complained about Melody’s harsh behavior at length, crying occasionally. Bright and I did our best to calm him.

“Everything is fine now, Zoe. You are safe. Mommy is with you.”

Jane was already standing at the doors of the Villa with a placard of ‘Welcome Home Zoe‘. She greeted him warmly.

“I am so glad to see you, brother.”

“I miss you, Jane.”

Their mutual love and affection moistened my eyes, reminding me of my fond memories of childhood, Henry and I were just like this. He was my savior, my only companion, who protected me throughout life. I couldn’t imagine my world without him.

Chapter 128 My thought process was halted by the kids‘ gleeful chatter, I was watching them playing with each other when my cell phone buzzed. I was terrified to read the message.

“Please come to the hospital. Mr. Leo’s condition is critical!”
