Chapter Nine
Broken Angels MC
ALIANA
Once Axyl had left for church, I herded the boys into the kitchen. My stomach was growling, a constant state of affairs these days.
âWhat do you guys feel like eating?â I asked them. âHow about grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup?â
âI love cheese sammiches!â Danny declared. His enthusiasm made me chuckle.
âAnd you, Murdock? Are you a fan of cheese sammiches?â
âSounds good to me. Can we watch a movie too?â He asked.
âOf course! What movie are you thinking?â I asked, gathering the ingredients for our lunch.
âAvengers!â Danny piped up. âI like Hulk. Heâs like daddy.â
âHulk isnât Dad, Danny. Captain America is the best superhero! Heâs more like dad!â Murdock argued.
âNo way!â Danny shot back.
âOkay, boys, want to know who my favorite is?â I asked, and they both nodded eagerly.
âWell, apart from your daddy, my favorite superhero has to be Thor. Now, why donât you two go set up the movie in the living room, and Iâll bring the food in a bit.â
Once the boys had scampered off, I finished up the soup and sandwiches and carried our lunch into the living room. âAlright, boys. Are you ready?â
âYes!â Danny shouted.
âWe put in the Avengers. The first one,â Murdock informed me.
âPerfect. Hereâs your food.â I handed them their plates and hit play on the movie. Before we knew it, our plates were empty, we were forty-five minutes into the movie, and Axyl was joining us.
âHey, baby girl,â he greeted me, kissing my temple. âWe need to talk.â
âOkay. Boys, your daddy and I need to have a chat. Weâll be right back. Please behave.â I told them before following Axyl out of the room.
âYouâre really good with them,â he observed.
âTheyâre wonderful boys. Iâm just grateful I get to be part of their lives. I was there for the first few years of Murdockâs life, and we became close, but now I get to start fresh, and theyâll have sisters soon.
They may not be my biological children, but I will love them as if they were,â I replied as we entered our room.
âI know you will, and thatâs another reason why I love you. Now, thereâs something you need to know. Weâre moving you and the boys to a safe house.
âSomeone has informed Alexander about the babies, and we want to ensure your safety,â Axyl said, and I felt my breath catch in my throat.
âWhat do you mean he knows?! How could he know? This canât be happening.â I was struggling to breathe. I couldnât believe he knew. How the hell did he find out?
âHey. Aliana, itâll be okay. Weâre taking precautions to keep you, our daughters, and the boys safe. Donât stress. Please. Itâs not good for the babies.
âI could have just told you that we were moving you to the safe house and not tell you why. Now, letâs get back to the boys.â I just nodded and let him lead us back to the living room.
When we returned to the living room, the boys were lying on their stomachs, engrossed in the movie. Axyl and I settled on the couch and I curled up against his side, my hand resting on my stomach. âItâll be okay, baby. I promise.â
âI know, Iâm just worried. Itâs been three months and we havenât heard anything from him. Then, suddenly, we have to uproot our lives because of some damn rat. Do you know who it is?â I asked.
âWe have our suspicions. No, I canât tell you. Club business.â Axyl replied. Of course, itâs fucking club business. The one thing that I absolutely hate about this club is that women arenât allowed to know whatâs going on.
I understand, sometimes, but other times, like right now, I would love to know whatâs happening. Then again, itâs better if weâre only told what we need to know. That way we have plausible deniability.
Itâs safer for us to only know what we need to. If we donât know too much in case someone gets kidnapped for information.
âFine. Itâd be nice to know who it is. I donât know, maybe because it involves my life, but club business is club business.â I retorted sarcastically.
âAli. Baby, come on. You know how all this works. Just trust me and the club.â
âI said fine, Axyl. Drop it. Iâm not in the mood. I just want to spend time with you and the boys and not think about anything else.â I explained.
âOkay. I get it.â He said, kissing my head. âAfter the movie, weâll get everything packed. We leave tonight.â
âI love you, Ax.â I whispered before turning back to the movie, soaking in the comfort that Axyl provided, even when I didnât think I needed it.
I must have dozed off because the next thing I knew, I was being prodded awake by tiny fingers.
âAli. Wake up.â Danny said, continuing to poke my face. I groaned and heard Axyl laughing beside me. âDaddy told me to. Ali. Weâre going on a trip.â
If I could be woken up like this every morning, I wouldnât complain. He kept poking my face and I grabbed him and started tickling him. His giggles filled the room.
âYou think you can wake me up and get away with it?â I teased.
âDaddy told me to.â He managed to say through his laughter.
âOh, really? Well, I guess weâll just have to get back at daddy then,â I respond. âMurdock, you up for helping your brother and me teach your dad a lesson?â
âYeah!â He shouts, bounding over to the couch.
âHey, nowâ¦letâs not do anything hasty. I was just joking around,â Axyl tries to soothe us.
âAttack!â Danny yells, and we launch into action. Murdock leaps onto Axylâs lap, âticklingâ him, while Danny clambers onto his shoulders to âtickleâ his neck. I join in with a wet willy.
âOkay! Okay! I surrender! We need to get ready for our trip.â We all stop, and the boys climb down. My mood instantly drops, knowing the reason for this trip. That jerk just canât leave well enough alone.
He always has to ruin everything.
âThatâll teach you not to mess with me,â I say, smirking. âWe need to pack.â Axyl just rolls his eyes, and we head to our rooms to pack. It doesnât take me long. I just pack some loungewear. I need to buy new clothes.
With my belly growing, my clothes donât fit well anymore. I walk out to the main hall, set my bag down, and go to find my brother and father.
âKnew Iâd find you here,â I say. âYouâre always in the garage when youâre deep in thought. Want to talk about it?â
They always tinker with their bikes when theyâre trying to work something out. âIâve been told Iâm a good listener.â
âNo need, sweet pea. Weâll figure it out. We just want you and the babies safe. Donât worry. Weâll work it out the best way we can.
âI know you didnât want this life, and thatâs why you left, but Iâm glad youâre back. I missed you,â my dad says.
âI missed you too, daddy. Itâs not that I didnât want this life, I just needed a break. But I wouldnât want to be anywhere else. Iâm right where I want to be.
âExcept for my ex trying to kill me and my babies. I really left because I couldnât stand seeing Axyl with her, and I wanted to finish my degree,â I say.
âWell, now you have the man youâve loved for a long time, and I have my family back together.
âPlus, two little girls who are going to be protected and spoiled rotten,â he says, pulling me into a hug.
âAnd when they start dating, the boy will have to get past Uncle Westyn.â
âAnd their father. Iâm not letting my baby girls date. Ever,â Axyl chimes in. Westyn and my dad laugh. âYou ready, love? We need to get going.â
âYeah, Iâm ready.â I give my dad and brother one last hug and head out to the car with Axyl and the boys. Two of the guys are coming with us. âHow long until we get there?â I ask.
âWe have about a five-hour drive,â Axyl answers. Axylâs driving, with Reaper in the passenger seat. Iâm sandwiched between the boys in the middle of the SUV, and Trigger is behind us.
The boys fall asleep quickly, and Iâm not far behind them. Might as well rest if Iâm going to be stuck in a car for five hours.
