Night â Dining Table Discussion
The Rajawat family gathered around the dining table, papers and lists spread across as they discussed the wedding preparations. Excitement buzzed in the airâexcept for Ridhima, who sat quietly, lost in her own thoughts.
"So, the guest list is almost finalized," Devika announced, ticking off names on the notepad. "Mom, you'll handle the invitations, right?"
"Of course," their mother replied, adjusting her glasses as she reviewed the details. "We need to send them out by tomorrow. The Rathores will obviously be the first ones to receive theirs."
At the mention of the Rathores, Ridhima's grip on her fork tightened.
"And the wedding hall?" her father, Vijendra, asked.
"I've already spoken to The Grand Palace," Devika said confidently. "It's the best venue in Jaipur, and they have an opening for next week."
Aarini, who had been sketching on her notepad, suddenly looked up with excitement. "Forget the venue for a second! I have something more important. I'll be designing Ridhima's wedding lehenga and reception gown myself!"
"That's a big responsibility, Aarini," their mother warned.
"I know! But I've already started working on the designs," Aarini grinned, flipping her notepad around to show her rough sketches. "And don't worry, I'll make sure all of you have the most stunning outfits too."
The whole family admired her work, showering her with compliments. But while they were discussing colors and embroidery, Ridhima barely heard any of it.
Her mind was stuck on one thingâhow to not marry Veer.
She had agreed to a four-month contract, not this sudden wedding plan. There had to be a way out. But with her entire family already deep into preparations, how could she stop it without creating chaos?
Lost in thought, she absentmindedly twirled her fork on the plate.
"Di?" Meera nudged her.
Ridhima blinked. "Huh?"
"You okay? You seem... distracted."
Ridhima forced a small smile. "Yeah, just tired."
But inside, she knewâshe had to find a solution before it was too late.
As the family continued discussing wedding preparations, Ridhima's father, Vijendra, cleared his throat, gaining everyone's attention.
"Listen, everyone," he said in a firm voice. "Tomorrow, the Arora family is coming over to discuss the reception guest list and some important business matters."
Ridhima's heart skipped a beat. She clenched her fists under the table. The Aroras? Already?
"We need to make sure everything is planned perfectly," her mother added. "This marriage is not just a union of two families, but also a major business alliance. The reception will be attended by some of the most powerful people in the industry."
Devika, always sharp when it came to business, leaned forward. "Which business leaders are we talking about?"
"A few well-known industrialists and international investors," Vijendra responded. "The Aroras want to make this a grand affair."
Aarini, still excited about the wedding designs, grinned. "That means I have to make sure Veer's outfit complements Ridhima's perfectly!"
Ridhima snapped out of her thoughts, her eyes narrowing. "Dad, don't you think everything is moving too fast?"
Her father sighed, giving her a look. "Ridhima, this is how business works. And marriage? It's a part of it. The sooner we finalize things, the better."
Ridhima bit the inside of her cheek, forcing herself to stay calm. She needed a way to stop this wedding, and she needed it fast. But first, she had to survive tomorrow's meeting with Veer and his family.
Because one thing was certainâVeer Arora was not someone who would make things easy for her.
Meanwhile at the Arora Mansion
At the grand Arora mansion, Mahendra Arora sat at the head of the dining table, his presence as authoritative as ever. The entire family was gathered, engaged in casual conversation over dinner, when he spoke up.
"Tomorrow, we have a meeting with the Rajawat family," Mahendra announced, setting down his glass. "We need to finalize the guest list for the reception and discuss important business matters."
Veer, who had been absentmindedly stirring his drink, snapped out of his thoughts at the mention of the Rajawats. His jaw tightened, but he kept his expression unreadable.
Aarti Arora, his mother, nodded in approval. "This wedding is not just about familyâit's about strengthening our business empire. We must ensure everything is perfect."
Mahendra turned his sharp gaze toward Veer. "Make sure you're present for the meeting. This isn't just about marriage, Veerâit's about the legacy of the Aroras."
Veer leaned back in his chair, exhaling. "You don't need to remind me, Dad." His voice was calm, but there was an underlying tension in it.
But even as he listened to the conversation, his mind wanderedâback to Ridhima.
The way she had walked into the restaurant in that soft baby pink saree, effortlessly stealing his attention. The way she had stood too close in the elevator, her warmth pressing against him. The sharpness in her voice when she called him Mr. Arora, yet the unspoken hesitance in her eyes when his fingers brushed against her skin.
His grip on the glass tightened.
"Ridhima Rajawat..." he muttered under his breath, low enough for no one to hear.
She was trouble. A challenge. And the worst part? He wasn't sure if he wanted to win or lose against her.
