Shock

Tangled Fate (1st book of ROYAL ROMANCE )

Dinner Table Discussion

Veer walked into the dining area, the aroma of freshly prepared dishes wafting through the air. His parents were already seated, waiting for him. His father, Mahendra Arora, motioned for him to sit.

Mahendra: "Come, Veer. There's something important we need to discuss."

Veer took his seat, calmly serving himself, though he sensed the seriousness in his father's tone.

Mahendra: "I think it's the right time for you to get married."

Veer froze mid-motion, his fork hovering in the air.

Veer: "Married? Why the sudden decision?"

Mahendra: "It's the right time, son. And honestly, it'll be good for business too. Family alliances strengthen partnerships."

Veer's jaw clenched subtly.

Veer: "You can search, but I doubt you'll find a girl suitable for me."

Mahendra smiled knowingly.

Mahendra: "Well, I already have someone in mind."

Veer arched a skeptical brow.

Mahendra: "My old college friend, Vijendra Rajawat, is in the industrial sector too. He has four daughters. I want you to marry his eldest—Ridhima."

Veer's entire body tensed. His fork clattered softly against his plate as the name sank in.

Veer (shocked): "Ridhima?"

He stared at his father, needing confirmation.

Veer: "Ridhima Rajawat?"

Mahendra nodded with a proud smile.

Mahendra: "Yes, Ridhima Rajawat. Do you know her?"

Veer quickly masked his emotions, leaning back casually.

Veer (calmly): "No, I've just heard the name."

His mother, Aarti Arora, handed him a neatly bound file.

Aarti: "Here's her biodata. Take a look, Veer."

Veer took the file, his expression unreadable. He didn't open it, instead setting it aside as he resumed eating, though his mind was in turmoil.

Veer (thinking): "Ridhima Rajawat... the woman who just outmaneuvered me in that meeting? This is unbelievable."

His father's voice echoed again.

Mahendra: "I'll tell you more about my plans tonight after work."

Veer nodded absently, pushing his food around his plate. The day had taken a strange turn, and Veer Arora wasn't sure whether fate was playing a clever game or setting up a war he never saw coming.

Dinner at Rajawat Mansion

Ridhima descended the staircase, now dressed in a comfortable yet elegant kurta set, her hair tied loosely. The warmth of the evening lingered as she joined her family at the dining table. Plates clinked softly as everyone started serving themselves.

Vijendra Rajawat: "Ridhima, I need to talk to you about something important."

Ridhima glanced up, her expression calm.

Ridhima: "What is it, Dad?"

Her father cleared his throat, his tone serious but hopeful.

Vijendra: "It's about your marriage."

Ridhima paused for a second but continued eating, unfazed.

Ridhima: "Marriage? What about it?"

Vijendra: "It's time we think about it seriously. You know it'll be beneficial for our business too."

Ridhima let out a soft sigh, placing her spoon down deliberately.

Ridhima: "If it's good for business, go ahead and finalize it."

Her mother's eyes widened slightly in surprise, while her sisters exchanged curious glances.

Kusum Rajawat: "You're agreeing just like that, Ridhima?"

Ridhima shrugged.

Ridhima: "I'm not someone who believes in love anyway. So, if Dad thinks this is right, I trust him."

Vijendra's eyes gleamed with approval.

Vijendra: "That's my girl. I've already thought about it. My college friend Mahendra Arora has a son—"

Before he could finish, Ridhima interrupted.

Ridhima (calmly): "Invite them for dinner and finalize whatever you want, Dad."

Her father looked impressed by her decisiveness.

Vijendra: "Alright, I'll call Mahendra and arrange the dinner."

Just then, Ridhima's phone buzzed on the table. She glanced at the screen, her brows furrowing slightly.

Ridhima: "Excuse me, I have to take this."

She stood up gracefully, leaving the table as her family watched her with a mix of admiration and curiosity.

Vijendra (to Kusum): "She's always so composed and confident. I'm proud of her."

As Ridhima walked away, her mind drifted back to the business meeting earlier—and that intense gaze from Veer Arora.

The Call Between Old Friends

Later that evening, Vijendra Rajawat sat comfortably in his study, dialing an old number on his phone. The familiar voice of Mahendra Arora greeted him warmly.

Mahendra: "Vijendra! What a pleasant surprise. How are you?"

Vijendra: "All good, Mahendra. I called to share some good news. My daughter, Ridhima, has agreed to get married."

Mahendra's interest piqued.

Mahendra: "That's wonderful! So, are we still talking about Veer and Ridhima?"

Vijendra (with a smile): "Yes, indeed. She's agreed to marry Veer. I was thinking, why don't you and your family join us for dinner tomorrow? We can finalize everything."

Mahendra beamed on the other side.

Mahendra: "That sounds perfect. It's not just a good match for the kids, but a fantastic start for our upcoming project collaboration."

Vijendra: "Absolutely. I'll be looking forward to seeing you all."

After exchanging a few pleasantries, they ended the call.

Mahendra Breaks the News to Veer

Mahendra turned to Veer, who was sipping on a glass of water after a long day.

Mahendra: "Veer, I have good news for you."

Veer raised a brow, setting the glass down.

Veer: "What is it?"

Mahendra grinned.

Mahendra: "Ridhima has agreed to marry you. We're having dinner at the Rajawat mansion tomorrow to finalize everything."

The words hit Veer like a bolt of lightning. He froze for a second, his mind racing.

Veer (in disbelief): "Wait—Ridhima Rajawat agreed? Just like that?"

Mahendra nodded confidently.

Mahendra: "Yes, Vijendra said she's ready. Isn't that fantastic?"

Veer's jaw clenched, a mixture of confusion and shock brewing inside him.

Veer (thinking): How is that possible? The same woman who challenged me in the boardroom today is now ready to marry me? There's no way this is real.

He masked his emotions and responded calmly.

Veer: "That's... unexpected."

Mahendra patted his shoulder.

Mahendra: "It's a great match, Veer. I always knew you two would complement each other, in business and life."

Veer said nothing, but his thoughts were far from settled. He knew this wasn't going to be simple. And he couldn't shake off the image of Ridhima's poised and commanding presence from the meeting earlier.
