chapter 26

" What's wrong? Hmm, kat ?" He asked softly. As I clutched his sleeve, not wanting him to leave me too.

" I can't," I said in between my crying.

" It's okay, you don't have to tell me," he said, holding me in his arms as I silently cried.

callen's pov :

" Callen" she called me, her voice breaking due to the sobs. " I miss my parents, I want to tell you everything but how? why is this so complicated" I cupped her face and looked at her. her eyes were closed, her cheeks stained by her tears. she was strong, so strong.

" you can trust me, take your time and I am here to listen to you anytime"

" Callen, how is everything going to be okay?" she whispered opening her eyes .

" my parents are alive, they never died "

" what ? "

" they are," she said biting her lips ." yesterday my uncle told me everything"

" can I look into it kat? I won't if you don't want me to interfere in your matter" I cannot see her in this state, she looks strong but she is so broken. I know it's been not that long since I met her but I can tell she is physically and mentally so strong but, she cannot handle anything properly when she gets emotional and that's okay and that is what I like about her, that she is a human.

" you can? " she asked.

"I can if you want me to " she looked at me deeply for a few seconds before replying.

" thank you," she said in a broken voice and nodded.

I smiled. " you know, punch me," I said.

" what?" she asked chuckling.

" yeah punch me"

" Really?" she said giving me a challenging look. I knew this would take her mind off those things for a while.

" Yup," I said smiling. she got up from her seat and her fist came in with much force as I douched it. she again tried to punch but I again douched it.

" Callen, now I know what you are playing "I smiled that she observed it soon. She brought her fist again but with that she crossed her legs with mine making me lose almost my balance and  okay, I didn't expect that.

" Callen you really want to get beaten today right, you are playing defensive"

"I wouldn't hit you," I said.

" That means you are going easy on me ?" she stopped.

" i am not doing it this way " she said turning away.

" you know you cannot protect your left side," I said with what i have observed for quite a while.

" what are you talking about ? i protect it quite well"

" you dont " she frowned.

" i do" she said stepping forward. " prove it that i don't " this girl really like challenges.

"I won't hit you, I am saying this again"  i said , raising my hands up .

she came forward and her knuckles almost touched in my right side when I quickly stepped aside, thankful for my good reflexes.

before she could have the time to focus I worked on her left side with a little bit much force . she clutched her side and groaned in pain. shit i am sorry .

" sorry " she smiled. " that's what I wanted but I do really protect my left side too you know, I was just not focused ."

" not focused means you cannot even protect your right side " she blinked twice and scrunched her nose.

she brought her fist again when I blocked it and hit her left side as she hissed.  she turned around as my hand grabbed her by arm and she elbowed me from around but I knew that was going to be her next move so I blocked it just before it could hit me .

She turned around, irrigation written all over her face as I chuckled on her .

" Good for you that you won today but i won't let you go off so easily next time "

" What about your left side?" I asked . I am sure as hell that it will form a bruise.

She pulled her black top up a little ,

" See two bruises " she chuckled.

" I told you , you don't protect your left side "

" I am not convinced , you want round two?" She said .

" Nope , I don't want to create any more bruises on you " she gave me a look .

" not to mention that we had a friendly fight in school library " we both laughed .

" Callen , callen " she gave me a tap on my shoulder as we were heading out of the library.

" Want to have another challenge? "

Now what's going on in her mind ? Okay if she is going to be fine .

" Sure but I am not going to hit you " I said.

" You don't have to , lets see who runs faster " she said with a excited smile. That's the girl I wanted to see when she was crying alone. This is the girl I like and want to protect just as finn , I don't ever want to let this side of her character fade .

From the first day to now , I have always been impressed by her.  I have seen she uses her fist for herself and for others always , never for unnecessary things . I saw how her eyes had moisture when she saw Emma in a bad condition , when she saw Finn laying on the bed , when she saw me in parking lot fighting against the thoughts coming in my mind .

She did nothing but care for us , I can tell she loves her family . The day when she broke infront of me in park , after getting hurt she still had this in her mind that she don't blame them and she loves them.

If it is Finn or her , I want both of them safe and always happy and for more to tell I have never seen a girl like kandis.

" Callen " she called .

" Hmm , what ? "

" Are you up for the challenge then ? "

I smiled , " I am ".

We went back to class and was just asked where we were and was allowed to sit after that thankfully but I don't think we would have minded standing outside .

Finn was giving us looks in the remaining class , I don't know what's going on in his mind lately .

The class finish and without wasting a time he quickly turned around in his seat to me . He looked at me and then back to kandis .

" You both are too much " he whined .

We both chuckled , " awww were you bored? "

" No , not that. You are going through something , you told him and not me " he whined again. A small sad smile came on her face , as she kept quite . I could see Finn was concerned about her too ,  behind his whining I could see the boy who wants to comfort her and so could she .

" I am sorry , I will tell you . I promise " she said .

" You better do " he said pointing a finger at her and gave her a small side hug.

" Finn , me and callen are racing " she said , grinning.

" Racing? Why? " He asked.

" What do you mean why ? Why do you think we do racing for ? "

" To see who's fast ofcourse but why all of a sudden " he said , not understanding where this idea came from.

" It just came " she said laughing.

" Come with us to school play ground " he gave a quick nod .

.....

We got on the track , Finn was standing aside. As kat was done tying her shoe lace she looked at me " I will win this round "

" Let's see " I said .

Just when we Finn was going to start the counting our sport teacher came .

" What's going on here ? Racing? " He said grinning .

" Yeah " Finn said as Mr Morris came besides Finn .

" Okay let's go , on 3 " Finn said.

We both took our positions.

" 1..."

"2...."

"...." We looked at him , he gave a sheepishly smile .

"2..."

"2...."

"3!"

As he counted 3 we started running .  I could hear the claps of Finn. It's been so long that I have been running without knowing where the finishing line is .

I looked at kandis , she slowly came besides me as we were now side by side . She sure is fast .

I increased my speed and so did she , I could feel my legs getting tired and heavy but I forced myself to run . Again looking at her I saw she had one hand over her left side.  I remembered the moment we had in library.  Her speed became slow as she started to clutch her side tightly .

I kept my speed focused and I saw the finishing line . I could here other footsteps , that is of kandis . She increased her speed and was just little away from me .

I forced my legs to go fast but it was getting difficult to keep up with her speed as she was slowly going ahead of me .

The finishing line was just a little away , I used my strength and ran . But she did it so good , I saw how she forced herself and got till finishing line, the first .

We both came till the finishing line almost at the same time and fell down . Laying down I closed my eyes and took long deep breaths .

I opened my eyes and saw kandis laying down and clutching her side tightly as she struggled. Finn ,Mr Morris came besides her and I went towards her .

" Kat , you okay ? " Finn asked .

She hissed but nodded. Soon her breathing became normal and she sat up .

" Woah , so I did won right?!" She said as a big bright smile came on her face.

" Yup , you did " Finn said as we laughed and supported her small victory.

" You did good kat , you both just reminded me of my school days " he said , recalling his days. " We had a small playground and how we used to skip our classes everyday and play together ".

" You have this days so enjoy the fullest , now take your bags and go home . No student is left besides you now ".

We both got up as I held her arm to support her . She hissed when tried to get up quickly.

" Slowly " i said.

" What happened? " Finn asked .

" Just your friend got me bruises " she said chuckling.

Finn gave me ' really?!' look .

" Why? I mean how ? No I mean he? Gave YOU bruises? " He said in a unbelievable tone . " Haha he could never "

" He did though , right here ", she said pointing .

" Sorry , but you asked for it " I said .

" Who is blaming you , let's go before we are locked here " she said as we three went home laughing and grinning.

This chapter was fun to write be honest.

This chapter was light and kandis and callen has their moment.
