chapter 6

Callen POV :

Finn unlocked the door and walked into a big living room while I was standing out asking for his permission to come in.

"Are you sure you want to be friends with her?". I asked

"Come in ", Finn replied and I entered a big living room, all the lights were off and curtains were close making the room look dim.

"What do you think? I think it is okay to have a conversation with her, she doesn't talk to anyone nor care about anyone so, even if she knew about me being president's son! Oh yeah, PRESIDENT'S ILLEGITIMATE SON she won't talk to anyone about it", Finn said while opening the curtain making bright light enter the big room, making Finn firmly close his eye.

"She is very observant and smart, I don't think we can keep it hidden or give me some time, I will find more information about her ", I said but no reply came from Finn.

"You want coffee?", Finn asked me

"No, when is your mother coming back from work ?", I asked back.

" She went early so if lucky she will come back soon, and about kat !  you are just my bodyguard will you be able to find her information? I can share some contacts ! ". Finn replied.

"No don't! We don't want her information to be known to everyone, it's just between you and me, we have to keep her safe too ". I replied and added, "I have some work, will it be okay if I leave you here alone ? ".

"Yeah, my mom will be here soon ", Finn said

I was going to just open my mouth but Finn cut me off " I know I know, not to open the door for anyone, my mom has keys so she will use them, and not to open windows, don't stand near windows or doors, I know I have been doing this since I am born ".

Observing Finn's voice which was a little irritated I moved back and gave a small smile.

I went to the parking and left a big sigh. I don't know from where this big sigh came from but I just felt like a lot of burdens. I opened the door of my car and observed it before I sit in, there was nothing suspicious, just some trash made by Finn. a small laugh left from my mouth, and then I put those trash in the back seat.

I stopped in front of Kat's apartment knowing she will be out for a run. I waited till she come out. I saw kat with a lady chatting and laughing, I watched her from my car, her hair was put up in a messy bun, her brown hazel eyes were glowing with happiness.

"She looks like a different person talking to this lady,..... happy and cheerful ", I said and a small smile appeared on my face.

She went inside the apartment making me feel a little sad, I don't know why I was sad when she wasn't visible,  I never felt something like this. I wanted to see her in front of me.

"What! what !!! what are you thinking? Huh ", I said to myself.

After a few hours, she came out with her jogging suit, and her hair was as always messy but still looking beautiful. She started running and her speed increased suddenly making me increase the speed of my car.

"Does she even know where is she going? It's been so long she has been running! Waiting for her to pass out or what?" I said to myself being a little concerned. I watched her go into a shop, looking upon the banner I was surprised for a few seconds. It was a gun shop, why was she here! She is underage! I mean underage doesn't matter but why would a normal person go in a gun shop?

"Yeah! She did tell normal and she can't be linked ". I left a sigh and waited for her.

I got a knock on the window, I turned and saw Kandis. I looked in front again. Wait. WHAT !!! KANDIS?!???!! I turned towards the window again, completely confused. Seeing her bent down and looking straight at me with a killing smirk.

"Come out ", she said and I tried to understand her mood.

I unlocked my door and before I can open she already opened the door and took a move back making her arms crossed.

"Let's go inside "her voice was calm.

"Here? " I asked, she gave a nod and I followed her.

She is literally taking me to a gun shop. It's not like it's my first time but she doesn't know it's not my first time.

"Hey, Smith ! Today two ". Kandis said.

My gaze turned to a black man who looked in his 30s and with a great personality, Not like others which I have seen in other gun shops. The gun shop which I mostly go to has a man in his 50s wearing a beach shirt all the time.

" This person and you? And how is Nora? And how are you? Where were you? I haven't seen you for months ", Smith said not giving time to Kandis to reply to him.

"Nora is fine, I am fine and I was just busy with stuff, you know about Mr. Ducas and now I am done so I am all here". She said cheerfully.

opening her arms wide, She took a step forward and hugged Smith and a smile appeared on my face.

"Here," Smith said giving Kandis a small gun.

"This, this thing??! ", Kandis pointed out the gun.

"Yeah, I know, you are skilled and you can use the modified one and that this gun doesn't look cool but you haven't been practicing since I don't know how many months so for a month I cannot give you a so-called cool gun and you are even underage !", Smith said and patted Kat's head. She sighed and nodded.

She left first taking her gun to the practice room I was stopped by Smith, he gave me a smile "Take this, I know you use your gun daily, your features tell it all ". He gave me a gun and I gave a smile with a nod.

I entered the practice room and saw Kandis aiming, Without looking at me she said: " The room is soundproof, and wear the ear protection kept there, it's will be a little tight for you because it's your first time ".

I gave a nod and pretended I don't know anything.

she lowered her gun and looked at me, her forehead creased and she asked " why you have this gun? That means you know how to use a gun!  Smith doesn't give this gun to anyone who is not experienced and seeing that you are able to handle it that means you are very good at shooting ". I can clearly see jealousy and confusion about me in her eyes.

I ignored her and turned my gaze, aimed and shoot!

Kandis positioned her gun and gave a shot randomly but they were in the right place which surprised me.

I narrowed my eyes to myself.

" You guys are talking with me in school. Today I ignored you following me around the whole day and even allowed you to take some information about me. I knew about it, but I also have a right to know about you, If you know something about me shouldn't I know at least a little about yours?", Kandis asked and her every word were right, there was no reason for her to not know about me, about Finn. Except for my face and my name she knows nothing about me. One part of me desperately wanted to tell her everything about me, everything! But one part of me told me to hide it.

I had no choice! Even a single mistake in telling her a lie and everything is over and I feared that! Where was my mind when I accepted that gun? Was I trying to impress her? Where was my mind working when I positioned my gun? Was I trying to impress her? Where was my mind when I aimed my gun? Was I ... Trying to impress her? It's hard to accept but yeah I wanted her to know every skill of mine.

I have no choice but to ignore her. I left the shop and she followed me. She stopped and I opened the door to my car, before leaving I checked back she was not there, I sighed. I felt bad. I cannot tell why I am feeling like this, I lied to so many people till now but never felt this disappointed in myself.

I cannot handle friendship nor can I handle my work properly. I did good for so many years but why can't I lie to her? Why do I always say something stupid when I am with her?

I saw Kandis inside the shop.  I reversed my car to the door of the shop and gave a horn. Kandis noticed and I gestured for her to seat in.

We were both silent, I didn't dare to start a talk nor did she. I dropped her near her apartment and left.
