'Tᴀʟᴇs ᴏғ Dᴇʟɪɢʜᴛ'

🥀🥀🥀

🥀🥀🥀

"Roses are red, violets are blue....only if love was true."

Writing in her beautiful calligraphy style writing, the golden brown haired girl bit on the pen's lid, her light brown eyes trailing on the written piece on her diary.

It was a sunny sunday morning, as the sun rays peeped in through the window grills into the drawing room. Amarra sat near the window, her golden hair glowing brighter under the gleaming brightness of the sun. Her eyes glistened blaming the warm invading sun rays falling directly on her to be the cause. The scent of her rose perfume, mixing with the natural scent of the rose attached on her hair made her feel nostalgic.

The double door was harshly opened as the pen dropped from her mouth due to the abrupt gasp leaving her mouth. "What the hell?"

Amarra flipped her diary close, as she met the jet black annoyed gaze of the cause of her headache everyday, standing by the door with folded arms. Her brown eyes shifted up and down, gawking at her shameless outfit once again.

"Gosh! I think I might lose my eyesight at this point." Amarra slapped her face, tightly shutting her eyes. "My poor eyes!" She again turned towards her step-sister, who was wearing an extra short cropped top, her waist slightly on display, with extra tight and torn jeans again displaying her knee area.

"I know you can't tolerate that I'm much sexier than you, but don't be too obvious now." Natasha modeled her way inside as Amarra replied to her with a roll of eyes.

"Don't tell me you're going out looking like this?" Amarra gave her a disappointed look. "Your fashion sense really sucks, Tasha."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Why the fuck do you care about my outfits. My life, my choice! Stay out of it." Natasha yelled at her as usual, Amarra shut her eyes to keep herself calm. "Why are you even here in the first place?"

"Well, because I am!" Amarra let out irritated. Though, it should've been her asking this question. Sometimes she wondered if their lives were exchanged, since Amarra was the one who was born and lived all her life abroad, but this young 18 year old Pakistani girl acted like she was from the US instead of her. Though the difference in their accent and tone told otherwise.

"Well, get your ass out of here then. My friends are coming over." Natasha casually settled on the sofa, getting busy on her phone.

"Excuse me? You can escort them to your precious bedroom, I'm not going anywhere!" Amarra scoffed holding her pen again as she flipped open her diary.

"So you're gonna act like a bitch now?" Her black eyes lazily shifted from the phone screen towards Amarra. Getting distracted by her silky golden-brown hair, which she always envied over her own curly black ones. But she couldn't show it, since Amarra's love for her hair was like an obsession with them, not letting anyone ever touch them.

"The actual flip! I swear to God, if I ever hear you cursing one more time, I'm gonna sew that mouth of yours, you little chipkali!" Amarra couldn't hold it in anymore, as she threw her pen at the black eyed girl, missing the target by an inch as the pen landed behind her on the marble floor.

"Oops." Natasha tilted her head towards the pen then turned back at a raging Amarra. "Well, shit! Cause you can't stop me, you little choohiya!"

"Choo- choo what!?" Amarra's brows furrowed in confusion and irritation.

Since she had lived all her life in the US, being born there and studying in their education system meant she'd become very distant towards her own mother-tongue Urdu. Neither did she ever try to learn how to write it nor speak much in the own language at home. However, living in Pakistan since the last two years, she'd learnt a lot of it and became much used to the language.

The doorbell rang indicating that the expected guests by Natasha had arrived, as she got up fixing her high pony. "Get the fuck out before they come in."

Amarra clenched onto her diary, almost causing the hard surface to bend, as she threw daggers at the double door, she now stood outside of. She should've just kept on sitting there like a stubborn choohiya.

Hearing the footsteps and faint loud laughter of male voices, she quickly ran in the other direction, hiding behind the large decoration vase.

This girl had again invited those bigray hue gadhay in the house.

She had seen those boys smoking the last time, and nothing could be more disgusting than that!

A message popping sound from her stomach made her look down at the front pocket of her hoodie. It was hanging low due to the weight inside it as her hand dived in to lighten it.

Sunshine🌞:

GT?

Ara🥀:

YES!🙌

Where?

Sunshine🌞:

His place, duh!

Ara🥀:

Will be there in 10.

Amarra internally thanked God as she hopped towards her room to place the diary in her drawer, the rose dropping off her hair on the way. She quickly made her way downstairs, without caring about the casual outfit she was wearing. She just wanted to be away from this house until those people were there. Or maybe, she actually always wanted to stay away from this place, forever.

"You cheater!" He exclaimed throwing his head back on the sofa, while tossing the remote control onto the side.

"Losers always say that!" Amarra stuck out her tongue at him, while dancing with her shoulders.

She was at her best friend's place, the person she trusted and always found by her side in every difficult sitaution, Abuzar Shoaib. While the sunshine, Sundala, who had called her up was nowhere to be seen yet, so they decided to play video games to kill time till she arrives with her partner.

"Chalaak loomri!" Abuzar then muttered a few incoherant words under his breath annoyed at the fact that he still couldn't win against her in his favourite video game. No matter how many times they played it together, she would win against him, who was supposed to be a pro in the game after playing it for years.

"Kia bol rae ho?" Amarra asked in her thick voice, the accent still dripping out of her tone. "Say it to my face na, loser!"

"Kuch nahi! Ap phir se jeet gai mauhtarma!" He gave her a fake wide smile, presenting his remote control to her as a trophy.

"I know I'm the best! You don't need to say it." She grabbed it, giving him a proud grin as he rolled his eyes pulling it back.

"One more round!" He said with a gaze full of ambition, to win this round!

"No!" She folded her arms, slouching back on the sofa, placing her feet on it comfortably.

"Yes!"

"Nope!"

"One last time!"

"Not in the mood anymore, hero!" Amarra played with her nails, giving them all the attention.

"You scared that you'll lose!"

"As if!" She rolled her eyes.

"Please, Berry!" Abuzar was almost losing his new ambition looking at her lazy replies.

"I'm hungry!" She finally looked at him, with a glowing spark in her eyes, asking for food.

"Pizza?"

"Sure! Order the one without pineapples! And, Sundala likes the spiciest one, I don't even know how she gulps it down, that burns up my taste buds, by God!" Her ears and nose turned reddish just by talking about spicy food as Abuzar chuckled.

"Pakistan mai pali bhari hoti tou pata hota, we desis can't live without spice in our lives!"

"Ahan!" Amarra stood up, gazing around his apartment. "Bathroom, this way right?" She pointed at the thin corridor, which was dividing the TV lounge from the private room. He lived alone in his own apartment and that's why they mostly had their GT's at his place, since it was cozy and comfortable. Though, Amarra always had a thought of how hard it must've been from him to survive without parents when he told her he lost them in a car crash.

"Yeah." He went to grab his phone from the counter as she made her way towards the door. She slowly put her foot in the bathroom slipper placed there, which she didn't know were wet.

"What the freaking chicken!?" She exclaimed jumping away on her feet as the wetness touched them.

"Kia hua?" He popped his head from behind the wall, to get a view of her.

"Yeh joote geele hain! Mujhe non-geele joote do!" She scoffed, stepping to the side.

"Wait what? Non-geele!" He gave her a completely offended look walking forward. "Mother angrezi, meri pyaari zaban urdu ka phir se mazaq uraya hai tumne!"

"No, it was.....a slip of tongue." Licking her lips, she folded her arms looking away.

"What was? Non ya geele?"

"Fine! Ab dekhna mai khalis urdu bolun gi!" She placed her hands on her waist, as he quirked a brow at her. "Just becau-"

She paused realising she had again spoken in angrezi as his sarcastic laugh resonated in the area.

"Khalis urdu gai meri non-geeli jooti mai!" He got her his bare slippers from the side shelf as she pouted.

The loud banging on the apartment door indicated that the sunshine had arrived as she shouted a loud "Open up!" from behind it.

"Speaker ya bell ki zaroorat nahi hai ise! Khud hi phatta hua speaker hai ye!" Abuzar ran towards the door before she breaks open it, as Amarra stood there wondering what phatta hua means!

"Here's the wedding card! How is it Ara?" Sundala displayed the picture of her wedding card to Amarra on her phone screen. They were all seated in the lounge. They, as in Sundala and her finace, Taha Abdullah, who was also a close friend of Abuzar. Though Amarra didn't know him much, since she became friends with Sundala in the recent year of university when they met at an event. But she'd seen Abuzar hanging out with him at times so she knew he would be a good guy.

"It's pretty good." Amarra stared at the cartoon couple picture in the middle of it, smiling. "That's cute."

"I know right!" Sundala couldn't contain her happiness. She had met Taha in her first year of university and they went from being acquaintance to friends to a couple now getting official in a month of their last year.

"Though I haven't seen how love blossomed among you both, but I hope it never lessens but keeps on growing and you both live a happy married life like the best couple you are." Amarra said with a faint smile looking at Sundala, as her own past memories started hitting her like an arrow directly to the heart, the pain never seemed to lessen.

"Awe. Stop before I start crying." Sundala gave her a bear hug, "I love you Ara!"

"She likes me more though." Abuzar, who was seated on the floor cushion, tossed the popcorn in his mouth, munching on it with a smug look. Sundala snorted hearing his words.

"She's my best friend." She pulled Amarra closer by her neck.

"In your dreams." He again popped a popcorn in his mouth, as this time he was replied with a glare.

"In reality! She's my best friend." Amarra's eyes widened as Sundala's arm on her neck tightened the hold.

"You tell yourself that."

"Because I know her."

"I've known her for a longer period of time than you."

"That doesn't matter! She's still MY best friend!"

"No! She's mine." Abuzar placed his elbows on the table, cupping his face in his hands. She finally choked out, not knowing whether because of his abrupt words or because she was literally almost choked by Sundala.

"She belongs to me." Sundala dramatically got up, as Taha got a cup of water for Amarra who was still in fits of dry coughing.

"She's not a possession!" Abuzar placed his hands on the table, his eyes diverting towards a red Amarra.

"Shut up, you both! I am no one's! Neither do I belong to someone." She finally spoke up, banging the cup on the table as there was utter silence after that.

"What are you both? Kinder garten's students fighting over a pencil?" Taha added giving them both a disappointed look. Giving each other awkward glances in the awkwardly silenced room, the doorbell ringing had them all heave a sigh of relief. "Pizza time!"
