Chapter 22:

To The Moon and BackWords: 6373

Pressure was a real thing. At least once in their life, everyone had faced severe pressure. Sara did too, not too long ago. Along with emotional blackmail, something that was pretty common in a lot of brown households.

Arsalan, her husband had gotten married to Ayesha, his first wife when the both of them were 22. Bi jaan had never approved of Ayesha but she didn't want to loose Arsalan after loosing his father. Arsalans father had passed away in a tragic accident when he was 18.

Arsalan and Ayesha had been married for 8 years yet they couldn't have a child, something that worries Bi Jaan a lot. She didn't was her nasal to stop anytime soon. So, she talked, more like pressured Sara into marrying Arsalan.

Sara had always found Arsalan intriguing. He had one of the kindest hearts and the most handsome face ever.

He wasn't like a lot of the men now a days.

That had attracted Sara to him even more. Now, don't get her wrong. She definitely didn't want to be the home wrecker, but she had no choice. Bi Jaan had threatened her with not talking to her and locking herself up. That literally shattered Sara's innocent heart, for Bi Jaan was all she had. For an old woman, she was sure convincing.

After getting Arsalan on board with this idea, the two of them got married.

Ayesha on the other hand, didn't take the news so well. Who would when you find out your husband is getting married again just for an heir that you couldn't give him. She had immense fear in her heart. Fear that her husband would fall for his younger second wife and forget all about Ayesha.

They had tried everything that could help them produce, but no avail.

They had tried everything that could help them produce, but no avail.

Obviously, people used this as an excuse to talk bad about the wealthy family. Arsalan had been from generation of mahraja's. They had passed on their wealth through out the generations and the Shah's in general had been respected because of their kindness.

After hearing people talk bad about the whole situation, she finally broke. She had convinced Arsalan by telling him that he can stay with Ayesha. He didn't have to leave her but needed to remarry for a heir.

Another reason Bi Jaan wanted her grandson to remarry was because she knew his first wife was nothing but a gold digger. Always spending tremendous amount of his money carelessly, ruling over everyone that worked for them harshly, doing nothing to help out the family's name with, and so much more.

Bi Jaan hoped that Arsalan would realize the true colors of his wife before it was too late.

Sara woke up the next morning at 8. While getting up to take a shower, she heard shouting from outside the room.

"Just go back to her, Arsalan!" Ayesha shouted at her husband.

"Ayesha, please, don't be like this," Arsalan begged in a voice full of exhaustion.

Sara felt so guilty. Guilty for ruining their relationship. Guilty for coming in between the two.

Sara felt like she was the rich woman that her father had run after. In this situation, Ayesha was in Sara's mother's position and Sara was in the position of the rich woman.

She sighed before heading into the bathroom to shower. Once she finished showering, she changed into a baby blue colored mermaid tail dress that complimented her similar colored eyes. The dress had golden karhai along the ends. She had a gotta dupatta of the same color and wore a satin baby blue colored churidar pajama.

(Embroidery; type of scarf; type of tight pants worn in South Asia)

After putting on a pair of khusa's, she headed downstairs.

(Traditional Desi shoes)

The dining table was all set with various kinds of food. She felt her heart drop at the fact that she didn't have family that would bring her food the next day of her wedding like in traditions. However, for the sake of Bi Jaan, she plastered a fake smile and headed towards the dining table and sat down after saying her Salams. Arsalan and Ayesha also entered the dining room moments after her. Ayesha had a blank face whereas Arsalan had a tired one. She sighed and looked away.

"MashaAllah, meri beti itni piyari lag rahi hai," Bi Jaan said, looking at Sara with pure love.

(My daughter looks so beautiful)

Sara smiled at Bi Jaan, a slight blush on her face. She heard a small scoff but chose to ignore it and continued to eat her food. Breakfast was nothing but tense and awkward. Ayesha all of a sudden stood up and walked away muttering about how she couldn't play happy family.

Sara watched her walk away and swallowed the lump in her throat before her eyes found her husbands, that were already looking at her with intensity. She looked away from his eyes before focusing on her food that she was just playing around with.

"Tou, kasa tha?" Bi Jaan questioned, while raising an eyebrow at the two of them. Sara and Arsalan just looked confused.

(So, how was it)

"Kiya matlab?"

(What do you mean)

"Woi." she said.

(You know, that)

"Kiya?" Sara asked this time.

(What)

"Abay Bhai, kal raat kaise ti?" She said this time, annoyed at the couples obliviousness.

(My god, how was last night)

"Bi Jaan," screeched Sara before walking away from the table in embarrassment. Bi Jaan however, looked confused.

"Kiya howa isko?" She questioned Arsalan. Arsalan tried his best to keep his laugh in and shook his head in amusement.

(What happened to her)

"Kuch nahi Bi Jaan, aap khana Kai."

(Nothing, Bi Jaan, you continue eating)

After Sara rushed out the dining room in embarrassment, she ran into a maid that was taking food for Farida begum. Farida was the mother of Arsalan. After her husband had passed away tragically in a car accident, she had gone insane.

(Madam)

She had deeply loved her husband and after he left, she lost all senses.

Sara slowly opened the door to Farida's room and walked in. Farida was sitting on her windows ledge, looking out the window.

Sara walked up to her and placed the food on the near by table and placed her hand on Farida's shoulder. Farida looked at the intruder with black eyes. Sara smiled at her mother in law before grabbing a brush and brushing her hair. Farida had long hair that reached just above her butt.

After placing her hair in a braid, she grabbed the food and began feeding Farida, oblivious to the fact that someone had been watching the pair the whole time.
