Chapter 35:

To The Moon and BackWords: 10279

*Two weeks later*

These past two weeks had been absolute bliss for Zahra and Fahad.

The two had bonded and gotten much closer during this time period. Fahad's and Zavira's relationship bloomed like a father and daughters would.

Currently, all three of them were out, eating ice cream in the busy streets of Multan, laughing at Zavira's hilarious yet cute stories.

Fahad had never been happier in his life. He felt whole heartedly content with Zahra and Zavira in his life.

However, he couldn't help but feel guilt.

He felt as if he was taking what was rightfully his brothers. And he didn't want to feel like that.

So, last night he had decided to talk to Zahra about it. He explained to her each and everything he had feeling and why.

And it did help him feel much better.

His wife made him understand that he wasn't stealing anything of Saads. She also expressed how she felt about the whole situation and by the end of it, the couple came out stronger than ever before.

Currently, everyone was having breakfast at the dining table. There was laughter and happiness placed on everyone's faces, besides Rahila's and Fiza's.

The mother and daughter could never be satisfied.

"Baba," Fahad spoke up, and the chatter died down. "I'm planning on taking Zahra and Zavira to New Orleans, maybe next week." The main reason they were going was for Zavira. She had wanted to go to Disneyland for a while now and Fahad had decided to surprise her.

Zahra had been a bit hesitant but then agreed since there was nothing better to do.

"Han, bas yehee kam hai." Rahila muttered, but everyone had heard.

(Yah, that all you have to do)

"Kiya matlab?" Fahad asked.

(What do you mean)

"Arey bhai, kuch nahi."

(Nothing)

"Kuch toh hai na, jo aap ko bohot zurori laga kehnay ki liye." Fahad said.

(Well there must be something, and you must've have thought that it was really important to be said)

"Han, hai. Jab be dehko, Zahra gumne pirnay jati hai. Koi aur kam nahi hai tumhari ye, nek biwi ko?" Fiza spat, jealousy clearly evident in her tone.

(Yes. She's always out, never home. Doesn't your so called innocent wife have anything better to do)

"Jo meri biwi karti hai, uska tumsay koi talok nahi hai. You are no one to question her." Fahad firmly spoke, his hands clenched.

(Whatever my wife does, has nothing to do with you)

"Aur Rahila phupo, ap please apni had mai rahay." He said before getting up and walking away.

(And Rahila aunty, please stay in your limits)

Zahra watched her husbands receding back while biting her lip out of nervousness.

"Agar tum na hoti, toh woh meri maa say asay khabi na baat karta," Fiza said as she stood up and slammed her hands on the dining table.

(If it weren't for you, he would never talk to my mother like that)

"Fiza bas." Amma Bi uttered. "Fahad sahi keh raha hai, apni had may raho. Tum dono."

(Fiza, enough. Fahad is right, stay in your limits, the both of you)

Fiza huffed before continuing to eat her food. Every now and then, she would look at Zahra with fire in her eyes, glaring her down. After hurriedly finishing breakfast, Zahra got up to find Fahad. The first place she looked was in their bedroom but he wasn't there.

The only other room he would probably be in was his study, so she headed in that direction.

She opened the door to see her husband sitting there, his head in his hands. "Fahad?" She called out as she walked towards him. He let out a sigh and leaned back in his chair, his eyes closed.

"I'm just so done with the both of them." He angrily muttered. Zahra turned his chair so that he was facing her. Fahad pulled her down in his lap as she let out a yelp, not expecting that. However, her dear husband payed her no heed and continued on. "First she was always after mama, and now you. Next thing you know, she'll be after Zavira or even Sana, blaming stupid shit on them!"

"I want them gone."

"Fahad, listen. Don't let your anger control you. Think this through with a relaxed and not an angry mind." Fahad grunted before pulling his wife closer towards him and burying his head in the crook of her neck.

"She's just mad I didn't marry her brat of a daughter," he said. "And I thank Allah everyday for that." Zahra let out a laugh at her husband before shaking her head him.

A knock on the door had Zahra standing up from her position on Fahads lap. The door opened and Amma Bi came inside the room. She gave the couple a smile and sat down in one of the chairs placed in front of the desk in the room.

"Rahila..." she started off, struggling to find the right words to describe her daughter. "Bohot badl gayi hai shaadi ke baat. Uski pehli mohabbat margaya, jo usse sambala nahi gaya." Rahila was madly in love with her husband, and after he died, she didn't have time to process his death. She had a daughter to take care of, to raise. And all while that, she hadn't properly grieved him.

(Has changed a lot after marriage. Her first love died and that was something she couldn't handle)

"Tou phir usney dosro may ghalatiya nikalna shoro kardi. Aur Fiza yeh sab dehkay howe pali, jisleyeh wo bilkul apni maa par gayi hai. Uske zindagi mei khabi ek baap jaisay man nahi tha. Han, uske Mamoo tou tey, likin ek baap nahi tha. Mai kisi ki bhi side nahi layrey, mai baas sam jahrey ho tum dono ko, jo mai Rahila aur Fiza ko bhi karon gi," she finished off, looking into her grandson eyes, who then just nodded at his grandmother.

(So then she started pointing out flaws in others. And Fiza had grown up with this, which is why she went exactly on her mom. She didn't have a male figure in her life either. Although she did have her maternal uncles, they were not her actual father. And I'm not taking anyone's side, I'm just explaining, which I will also do to Rahila and Fiza)

She then left soon after and Zahra and Fahad were all alone. "Get ready," he said to his wife, who looked at him in confusion. "I'm taking you out on a date."

He spoke up and kissed her cheek. Before Zahra could say anything, her husband rushed out the room. A light blush over took her cheeks as she treaded to their room.

The rest of the day moved along slowly. Zahra tried to keep herself occupied with Zavira, who had been really excited to learn these past few days.

They did some activities about numbers and the alphabets. Zahra then made her some keema pasta, Zavira's favorite.

(Minced beef/meat)

When it turned 6, Zahra got a text from Fahad telling her to be ready.

She had decided to wear a light magenta colored peplum with a matching shalwaar and a floral dupatta.

(Punjabi style pants; a long scarf women wear in with Asia with their outfits)

She knew how much her husband loved to see her in a shalwaar. She then proceeded to wear the anklets he gave her in Murree. She had found them to be the most beautiful pair she owned.

After putting on pearl embedded khusa's, she was ready to move onto her makeup and hair. She opted for a simple look and put her hair in a loose braid, tendrils framing her face.

(Traditional south Asian shoes)

By the time she was done, Fahad was here to pick her up. He drank her features in, before pulling her to him. Zahra blushed at the attention he was giving her before she pulled him along downstairs. They got into one of the cars and were on their way. Fahad held his wife's hand tightly in his grip, placing a kiss on it every 5 minutes, making Zahra smile.

After about a 20 minute drive, they reached a more secluded area. The place was decorated with fairy lights and there was even a gazebo with a table placed in the middle of it. Zahra looked around in amazement before giving her husband a huge smile.

"Yeh sab apney kiya?" She asked him, before turning back around to look at the beautiful decor in front of her.

(Did you do all this)

Fahad wrapped his arms around her and pulled her to him so that her back was against his front.

"Hmm. I did get some help. But I'd do anything for the girl I've loved since I was 10." He whispered and Zahra froze in his arms. What?

It was deathly calm before Zahra spoke up. "What?"

Fahad let out a sigh before turning her around and looking into her eyes. "I have loved you since I was 10 years old but didn't say anything for the sake of Saad and you."

"And if Saad hadn't died, you would've never told me what you felt?!" She said, her voice rising, indicating the fact she was pissed.

Fahad remained silent and Zahra got her answer. She sighed before looking away. Her eyes softened as she looked at all the decor, decor all for her.

She walked back to Fahad and placed her hand in his. He looked up into her eyes before she dragged him to the table, where food had already been placed.

"I know it wasn't right of me to keep it in but I couldn't do that to Saad's happiness." Fahad said as the both of them took and seat.

"I know." Zahra said in understanding. She really did think he was really brave and selfless for what he had done. She would've never imagined that Fahad liked her.

"Come on let's eat, I'm starving." Fahad said and he picked up the lid from one of the big dishes. Inside was rice and Portuguese style chicken, with spicy sauce drizzled all over it, something Zahra absolutely loved to eat.

After eating and talking about random stuff, it was dark outside. Fahad decided they were going to walk. While walking, Zahra jumped as she heard a loud pop. She looked up in the sky to see fireworks. Her mouth hung open as she looked at her husband who was just smiling at her.

Zahra let out a laugh before hugging her husband. "Thank you, for all of this. For everything." She mumbled into his chest.

"Anything for you. I love you Zahra, I really do." She whispered.

"I love you, too," she said, looking into his eyes, before connecting their lips.
