Chapter 117 Maeve watched Leviâs figure for a moment. Levi seemed frail, yet he b intimidating.
had sustained the Hackett family for years, which was somewhat âSir, sheâs here.â At that moment, a bodyguard had escorted a tartyâlooking woman over.
Maeve observed the scene and pretended to sip her drink aside. As the woman laid eyes on Levi, she adopted a seductive demeanor with her eyes flashing flirtatiously. Maeve recalled seeing her attempt to approach Sheldon downstairs earlier, only to be rejected.
âMr. Hackett, is there anything that I can do for you?â The womanâs voice was low and soft, sending shivers down the spine.
Maeve couldnât resist stealing a few glances. The woman was practically clinging to Levi, who remained unfazed with a faint smile. Yet, that smile was tinged with coldness.
âWhat are you doing? Let me go!â The womanâs arms were firmly held, and she was pinned to the ground. As she trembled in fear, her glamorous demeanor faded.
âTell the person behind you that heâs got the wrong idea if heâs planning to gather information on the Hackett family through women. Leviâs tone was icy and devoid of any warmth.
He paused, then chuckled, âForget it, let my men handle it instead.â
The woman had been struggling, but her face turned deathly pale after hearing his words. With a simple gesture from Levi, the bodyguard grabbed the womanâs hair and tossed her from the second floor. A piercing scream echoed, and Maeveâs heart trembled along with it.
Although falling from the second floor wouldnât be fatal, it would likely leave them crippled for life. Levi... was truly ruthless.
But then again, if he wasnât ruthless, how could he hold such a powerful position in the Hackett family? No wonder people in this circle trembled at the mention of Levi; this man was truly formidable.
âMs. Scott, are you done watching?â Levi turned his wheelchair to meet Marveâs gaze.
Maeve quickly averted her gaze, realizing she had been caught satisfying her curiosity. She had it coming.
âMr. Hackett, about that woman...â
âSheâs just an escort, a plaything for the elite âLeviâs tone was indifferent as if the woman thrown down moments ago was nothing more than a bag of trash.
Then, he continued with a hint of amusement, âIâve heard Sheldon mention you several times, Ms. Scott. It seems you and my brother get along quite well.â
Maeveâs heart skipped a beat at this. She couldnât detect any warmth in Leviâs eyes. She had approached Sheldon initially because of his identity and future status, but even he had seen through her intentions, let alone Levi.
Maeve thought back to the woman earlier. It was clear Levi had intended for her to witness it, as a warning: Though Maeveâs heart raced, she kept her composure and replied, âWeâre just classmates, weâre not that close.â
Levi chuckled and said, âItâs windy here, Ms. Scott. Itâs better to stay downstairs. My brotherâs there tob, you two can chat.â
Maeve couldnât grasp Leviâs motives, but one thing was for sure he didnât want her near the terrace. Of course, Maeve wouldnât challenge Levi. She went downstairs after nodding politely..
As she reached downstairs, she spotted Sheldon drinking alone. At the sight of her, he immediately approached and asked, âWhy did you go upstairs?â
