On Monday morning Dennis drove to his parents place.
" Good morning mom, Good morning dad" He greeted his mom and dad, as he entered into the house.
" Good morning son" His dad answered.
" Good morning sweet heart" His mum replied and gave him a peck on his forehead.
" Good morning Big bro" His sister Nora greeted and gave him a hug.
" Good morning Den" Dora greeted and hugged him too.
" Are you ladies, all set for school?" He asked them.
" Why?" Dora asked.
" Why what ?" Dennis asked.
" Why are you asking whether we are set for school?" Nora repeated her twin sister question fully
" Wait let me guess, you are driving us to school?" Dora asked
" Yes, I am" Dennis replied.
" Wow, what happened today did you get a business deal or what " Nora asked.
" Why would asked that, as if I don't normally take you to school?"Â Dennis asked annoyed.
" Well because since last time you bought us snack you haven't driven us to school and if we ask, you will say public transport build character" Dora replied.
" Who said that, me ! ?" Dennis asked.
" Yes, you did " Nora said in agreement with her twin.
" Oh, I forgot, just forget whatever I said" He told them.
Then Dora looked at her sister and said," He wants something".
" I think he does " Nora agreed.
" What me?, No" He replied.
" He does" Dora disagreed with him.
" What do you want?" Dora asked.
" Spit it other " Nora told him.
" Rude, but okay I can't get any pass you guys so I will just come right out and ask , would Miss. Okoro be in school today?"He finally asked in defeat.
" Why are you asking?" Nora asked.
" Well I just wanted to know " Dennis told them coyly trying to his true intention of asking and unable to look then in theirs eyes, so that they wouldn't guess the reason he was asking about Chelsea. What he didn't know is that he can't get anything pass his twin sisters.
"Wait, hold on. Hope it isn't what am thinking" Dora said to him.
" What are you thinking?" Dennis asked back.
" Are you in love with our teacher?" Dora asked.
" Of course not, Why would you say that?" Dennis asked defensively, While lying to them. He didn't want them to know the truth, so they would go and tell his parents. He wanted to wait untill he was sure Chelsea felt the same way.
" That's right Dora, with the way he was looking and starring at Miss. Okoro that day he came to pick us up from school; you would think he has been in love with her for years" Nora said in agreement with what her twin sister said.
" Come on, stop saying that. You know it's your elder brother you are talking about. And you two are even talking as if I'm not here " " Dennis said to them.
" And so what?" " Nora asked, " You are talking bad if we are children, we are eighteen years old for goodness sake" She told him seriously offended.
"And let me tell if we were one person we would be thirty- six years" Dora joked in order to lighten the mood, she knows that her sister was getting offended and if care is not taken she will get angry,and Nora never easily gets angry at Dennis and that will make Dennis unhappy
" That's not true, it doesn't work like that. Whether you guys are one person or two since you are twin, you will still be eighteen"Dennis told her.
" Lighten up , I'm just joking" Dora told him.
"You better be, this the reason we sent you two to school. To learn and not forget what you have learn" Dennis said to them.
" You sent us or mum and dad did?" Dora asked sarcastically.
" I do contribute some time, like now since I'm offering to take you girls to school" Dennis told them.
" As if " Nora muttered, " And to give an reply to you to your statement before, that don't we know you are our elder brother, I would like to ask Dora a question, Do we have any other brother you know about?" She asked Dora after being quite for a while.
" No, I don't think so or do we brother Dennis?" Nora asked Dennis.
" Of course not " He told them, " Is that why you have been quite all this while ?" He asked Nora.
" No" Nora replied
" I said that because what you two are saying is just outrageous, I just met her that day",Dennis denied again.
" What about now, do you love her or are you falling in love with her?" Dora asked, ", If you are don't" She added.
" Why shouldn't I ?" Dennis asked in outrage.
"We do want you to spoil things for us. We already have a good relationship with Miss. Okoro, we don't want you to break her heart and end our friendship with her" Nora warned.
" Which friendship?" He asked sarcastically, " She is older than you two" He added.
" She is not too older than us" Dora told him.
" Who told you that?" He asked, knowing quite well that they are right.
" No-one, we have eyes for that" Nora replied, " We can see with our own eyes that she is not that older than us" She told him agreeing with her twin sister.
" Friendship or no friendship, in case you don't know I'm older than you two and you can tell me what to do. And forget about the ride, was going to drive you to school . I'm not taking you again and I will go find out if she is in school myself" Dennis said feeling all powerful.
" That's not fair" Dora said angrily.
" Watch me go" He said, as he moves towards the door.
" Mum!, Dennis is being mean. He is threatening not to drive us to school" Nora shouted at the top of her voice knowing that if her mother hears her, she would be able to intervene.
" Keep quite!" He warns Nora, " If mum get a whife of this , I will be disowned" He pleaded as he came back into the house.
" I have already disowned you" Nora told him.
" Denny, what is this I heard. That you are not taking your sisters to school?" Their mum asked Dennis.
" Of course it isn't true" Dennis denies it.
" It better be, because I'm sure I heard say you were driving them to school, when you came into the house" She said to him," So what made you change your mind or what happened?" She asked again, not too sure that he was telling the truth.
" Nothing mum, I was just joking with them" He replied.
" But mum he ......" For a was trying to tell on him, when he cut her off.
" I was joking right?" He asked his sisters again, as he stared dagger at them, deep into their eyes.
"Â Are you sure?" Nora asked.
" Of course I'm sure, it was only a joke" He said pleading with them, with his hands.
" Yes, of course he was joking" Dora agreed hitting her sister slighting on the back, to get her to agreed.
" Yes, he was joking, weren't you Dennis?" Nora asked his big brother with a smirk, seeing that she have been able to manipulate the situation and made him take back his words, by threatening to report to their mother; since she was the cunning one among the two girls, " Right Dora?" She asked her twin, since Dennis was not answering, because he was too angry to answer, as he got it that he was just tricked into taking back is word.
" Yes he was" Dora replied.
" I will get you for this" Dennis murmured to himself.
" What did you say?" Nora asked smugly, knowing he will denying what he said just now too, since their mum is here with them.
" Nothing" He muttered.
" I didn't think so" Nora said to him and smiled.
" You better have been, because I have already call my office and told them I'm coming early to work today" His mum warned again.
"Yeah, yeah, I was just kidding" He told her, " Where is dad?" He asked his mum.
" Here he his" She replied, as his dad walked in with his briefcase.
" Hello Son" He said to his son , dropped his brief case on the dinning table and gave him a hug.
" Good morning dad" Dennis greeted, " How have you been dad?" He asked.
" Morning Son, I have been fine" His Dad replied," The only thing is you refuse to visit or even call your old man" He added.
" I'm sorry dad" Dennis apologized, "I have been busy and work have been hectic" He told his dad.
" Too busy to call you dad?" His father asked.
" I promise I will do better" He promised his father, " How is the business going?" He asked his father, since he ran his own company.
" Its going fine Denny my boy" His dad replied
" Darling we should be going" Their mum told their dad.
" Yes honey, we should" Their father said to their mum, " Your mum has an event to plan, which is coming up this weekend" he informed his son.
" That's great" He told his mum, " I'm sorry I'm in a hurry dear, but I we talk later. Hope you will be coming to visit soon" His mother asked.
" I would try, by the grace of God " He told her.
" You better. I'm off to work Dennis, make sure you take your sisters to and back from school" She told him.
" Okay mum" Dennis replied," Bye dad" He told his dad.
" Bye son" His dad said to him.
" Bye sweeties, see you later" Their mother said as she gave the girls kisses on both of their cheeks.
" Bye mum" Dora and Nora both chorused.
" Bye dears" Their dad told the twins.
" Bye daddy" The twins told their dad.
" Bye sweetheart and be a good boy" Their mum told Dennis as she gave him a kiss on his forehead, picked up her bag and left with their father who also picked up his briefcase and drove both of them to work.
And one will wonder why Dennis will be so touchy feeling with Chelsea, not knowing that he has a family that is affectionate and affection is so easily and freely given without thinking.
" Let's go" Dennis ordered his sisters.
" Meaning?" Dora asked.
" Meaning that if you call my name one more time or talk rudely to me, you will both trek to school" He threatened them," " You get my meaning now?" He asked smugly, seeing that he was in control now since his parents have left for work, although he wouldn't actually leave them to trek, but what that's what they don't know.
" You are not my favourite brother anymore" Nora told him.
" Wow, I'm hurt" He told her placing his hand on his chest, "But I'm your only brother, so you can't have a favourite, because you don't have a choice. Which in the end makes me your favourite" HD told her.
" Hmm" Nora said" If it makes you sleep better at night"She added as she opens his car and sat on one of the back sit and Dora followed suit. And Dennis got into the car and drove them to school.
