CHAPTER 39
" Oh my God!" Kevwe exclaimed on seeing Dennis walk into Chelsea's restaurant through the front door and towards the kitchen.
" What , what?" Chelsea shouted in surprise.
" He is coming here " Kevwe replied.
" I just heard someone say my love does not know fashion " Dennis said out loud to them as he enters into the kitchen.
" Dennis!" Chelsea exclaimed.
" Is this how you greet someone?" Dennis asked Chelsea.
" Good afternoon, Dennis" She greeted.
" Say Good morning sir" Dennis said , trying to suppress a smile, with a grin.
" For what?" Chelsea asked courageously.
" Well, one because I'm older than you " He teased her.
" How many years?" Chelsea's asked him.
" More than one, I'm sure " Dennis told her without thinking of it, that her question does not really require or need an answer. But his pride was hurt, that's why he gave an answer so speedily without hesitation.
" As if" Chelsea said with a scoff playfully.
" Whether one or more years, it still remains that I'm older than you and tradition deems it that you respect me" He told her with authority.
" Okay, Good afternoon sir" Chelsea greeted again," Is that better?" She asked.
" Say my love" Dennis pushed for more affection in her greeting.
" Is sir not good enough?" She asked surprised at his audacity.
"No" Dennis replied.
" Well , you have to make do with it, because nothing I will say or call you, will be good enough" Chelsea said in finality, because to her he must be joking as she moves away from him.
" Hi, Dennis" Kevwe greeted him, trying to dissolve or put an end to their lovers quarrel, which Chelsea was already deep into, although Chelsea didn't know that was what was going. But Kevwe picked it up as she was the spectator and didn't want the argument between Dennis and Chelsea to escalate into a full blown actual quarrel.
" Good morning Kevwe" Dennis replied, " Didn't see you there" He added purposely.
" Oh" Kevwe said unaware that he was offended by what he overheard Kevwe say about Chelsea not knowing fashion,which shouldn't have caused offense. But he didn't know that she was joking. He only knew Chelsea took it personal, because she was an emotional person . Which was one reason Dennis loves her and he has discovered that he doesn't like anyone making her unhappy.
He was also tired of people that hid their emotion all the time and wear their self-preservative armor along with it. For ones he was happy to have met someone that he could tell what the person was feeling just by looking at their face and also know how they feel about him. He wanted people to be honest for ones.
" So to what do I own this honour?" Chelsea asked.
" Can't a guy walk around or don't I have freedom to be anywhere I want to be , after all it is a free world and there is also freedom of movement " Dennis told her.
" But this is not a free space and this is not even the main restaurant eating area where customer are allowed into. It is not somewhere you can just walk in and out of. This is my kitchen " Chelsea told him.
" But as a paying customer, don't I have the right to be in this vicinity?" He asked.
" That's if you are buying something " She answered him.
" Is that an insult or a question?" He asked annoyed.
" Choose the one that suits you or are you actually buying something?" She asked joked rudely.
" You are so disrespectful or is it just me?" Dennis asked.
" These days, I accept all labels. You can call me anything you like. You don't need my permission to call me any names, because you will call me those names any way. I don't and wouldn't care because I have been called worst, even if it's not usually true " She told him.
" Or you are just disrespectful to me" He added.
" Well it's you that have your mouth and You do have freedom of speech. So you say whatever you wish to say" She replied offended by him saying she was disrespectful, when she thought they were harmless exchange of words, but it looks like Dennis has taken some of their exchanged words to heart.
" Just take it easy " Kevwe said trying to dissolve their argument, which has escalated like she thought.
But Dennis didn't understand that was what she was trying to do.
" Kevwe you are here" Dennis says her.
" Yes, that's me Kevwe, the invisible" Kevwe said.
" Have you been here all this while?" Dennis asked.
" Yes, I guess I have , if me overhearing you and commenting counts as an evidence of me being here, then yes I guess I can say I have been here all this while. Watching you two behave like children and enjoying the show " Kevwe told him.
" I see now the disrespect runs in the friendship " Dennis commented.
" DENNIS!" Chelsea exclaimed shocked and surprise at his statement, " This is my longest friend you are talking to" She added.
" Rude!, excuse me" Kevwe said in shock of his comment.
" Don't Dennis me, I thought since you guys are allowed to be rude to me, I too can and is allowed to reciprocate your disrespect too" He told them.
" Kevwe don't mind him. He is just joking, right Denny?" Chelsea asked with a warning smile.
" Yeah, I was " He said in agreement, with an uncomfortable laugh. And since his father usually says , " Just because you apologize when you are wrong,does not make any less of a man " , and he has truly gone too far, and so has Chelsea, " Of course I am" He said uncomfortably.
" Okay, that's what I thought too" Chelsea agreed," Kevwe we were just playing with each and like he admitted he was just joking " She added.
" Of course you can't be serious. If you were, that means you do not care that you are gambling with your chances with my bff. So of course you are joking " Kevwe said to him with an indirect warning and with a murderous look.
" Of course I was joking" Dennis said, taking a deep breath, because Kevwe can be scary at times if she wanted to and he is just discovering.
" Oh my God, I almost gambled with my chances with my love, just for a little argument" He muttered to himself and Chelsea smiled fondly at him on hearing what he said and he smiled back at her with love. Of course she was pulling his legs and he fell down face flat , because he couldn't overcome the temptation of taking part in an argument, of which Chelsea is getting to know was one was his weak point, although she didn't like when their argument turned ugly and he started attacking her friend, who was trying to act as a peace maker.
On seeing this unconscious action from two of them as they smiled at each other, Kevwe couldn't help it but grin. She knew no matter how much Chelsea and Dennis argued they will always settle, because they were in love with each other, which was on display to the whole world. But not quite known to them
And she was only pulling Dennis's leg , when she threatened him just now. Obviously she wouldn't play with her besties chance of being in love and being loved, that's wasn't and will never be her.
