Chapter 80 How Dare You The couple hurried over and exclaimed, âQuick, itâs him!â
They pointed at Emrys.
The man in the suit nodded and briskly approached Emrys. âHello, Sir. Iâm Derek Lindt, the president of the Jadeborough branch of the Chanaea Chamber of Commerce. May I ask you two questions?â
The two plainclothes officers positioned themselves on either side of Emrys, ready to prevent any escape attempts.
However, Emrys had no intention of running away and calmly replied, âGo ahead.â
Derek asked, âSir, I heard from this couple that you possess a supreme VIP Card from our organization. Is that correct?â
Emrys nodded.
âIf you donât mind, could you show me the VIP card?â Derek inquired.
âFeel free to take a look,â Emrys replied.
With that, he handed over the black card. Derek examined it carefully before nodding to the two officers beside him. âItâs real. This is one of our supreme VIP cards. No more than twenty of them were issued in Jadeborough.â
Then he asked, âSir, may I know your name?â
âEmrys Lund.â
âEmrys Lundâ¦â Derek opened his laptop and typed the manâs name. However, the result showed no matching records. He immediately exchanged a glance with the two officers beside him.
One of the officers quickly presented his identification and said sternly, âWe are from the Jadeborough police force. We suspect that you are involved in a burglary that occurred half a month ago. Please cooperate with our investigation.â
Only then did Emrys realize that they mistook him for a thief.
He hadnât expected that a black card would cause such trouble.
The couple could not contain their excitement when they saw the scene unfolding.
It was now evident that this man was indeed a thief. The opportunity to lay their hands on over a million was within reach, and they couldnât help but feel elated.
However, they couldnât help but think how foolish the thief was. Not only did he fail to conceal the stolen goods, but he also dared to flaunt his actions so openly. They couldnât fathom what was going on in his mind.
Emrys said helplessly, âOfficers, I would like to cooperate with you, but unfortunately, todayâs not 15:29 Mon, 22 Jan GS Chapter 80 How Dare You possible.â
He had plans to visit the Sunderland family at noon to inspect that peculiar stone. If he were taken to the police station, it would unquestionably eat up a substantial amount of his time.
Upon hearing Emrys words, one of the police officers snapped, âYou dare to resist arrest?â
With that, they swiftly drew their guns from their holsters, Emrys chuckled and shook his head. âIâm not resisting arrest. The person youâre looking to apprehend is not me. This black card was given to me by someone else.â
âSomeone gave it to you?â
Everyone paused for a moment.
The shop ownerâs wife couldnât help but burst into laughter. âHaha, who would be foolish enough to gift you such a precious VIP card? What a joke!â
Foolish?
Emrysâ expression turned slightly peculiar, and he glanced at the shop ownerâs wife. âI wonder how the South River King would feel if he heard you calling him foolish.â
South River King?
Everyone was dumbfounded.
The shop ownerâs wife stopped laughing. However, she soon sneered and retorted, âWhat kind of joke is that? South River King is a prominent figure. How could he possibly know you?â
She scanned Emrys from head to toe, a disbelieving look on her face.
The others also remained unconvinced. However, after seeing Emrysâ serious expression, Derek decided to err on the side of caution and called Osmond for clarification.
After finding Osmondâs contact information in the important client database, Derek called him.
âHello, Mr. Langdon. Iâm Derek Lindt from the Chanaea Chamber of Commerce. May I ask if you have your supreme VIP card with you?â
âI gave it to someone else. Is there a problem?â
âGave it to someone?â Derekâs heart skipped a beat as he continued, âMay I ask if the person you gave it to is called Emrys Lund?â
âThatâs correct. Damn it! Did you offend Mr. Lund? Let me warn you, Derek, if you dare to offend Mr.
Lund, Iâll transfer away all the money I have in the Chanaea Chamber of Commerce tomorrow. How dare you offend Mr. Lund! Have you grown tired of living?â
