Chapter 46
Second Chances Protecting Mrs. Hall
Chapter 46 Brad might not have the same prowess as Liam did at his peak, but it was widely acknowledged that Liamâs influence had waned, and now, Brad was the one calling the shots. He stood at the helm of the Hall family.
Now, Sean boldly called Brad a lapdog, silencing everyone present. They wondered if Sean was too confident or maybe he just cared too much about Emma.
Kate was quick to shift the blame to Emma, but Sean wouldnât allow it to happen. He fixed his gaze on Kate and challenged her, âReally? You claim she plagiarized. Whereâs your proof?â
Caught off guard, Kate stumbled over her words. âI... I donât have any! But Iâm sure itâs beyond her capabilities. Iâm her teacher.
Shouldnât! know?â
Just then, Emma stepped forward, holding a voice recorder. âYou might not have proof of me cheating, but I have proof of your corruption.â With everyoneâs eyes on her, she played the recording of Kateâs private conversation with her earlier.
âYouâre compromising fairness and ethics over personal dislike? People like you shouldnât be in charge of anything at Vark College.â Emmaâs voice sounded.
âHold on. If you want your grade changed, I can give you a chance. Just give me your ticket to Starryâs concert,â came Kateâs sly voice.
The room erupted in gasps. People stared at Kate in disbelief, her face cycling from pale to a flushed red with anger.
The recording didnât stop there.
âYou think Iâd trade the ticket for my grade? Youâre delusional.â It was Emmaâs voice.
âA zero in this school means a call to the parents, I know you dread dealing with your family the most,â came Kateâs retort. âFine, keep your ticket. But remember, you defied your teacher and scored zeroâdonât expect me to show you mercy when you get expelled.â
âStop it! Turn it off!â Kate couldnât bear it any longer and blurted out in her defense. âThis recording is fake, Emma, youâre framing me!â
âIs that so?â Emma retorted with a smirk. âMiss Johnson, guess what? I also have a video.â
Kate, usually so composed in front of the school administrators, stood exposed, her misconduct drawing concerned looks from the office staff.
âMiss Johnson, your actions were clearly out of line,â a teacher said, shaking his head in disappointment.
âItâs ridiculous!â the dean declared sternly. âWe donât need to discuss this further. If Emma hadnât kept evidence, we could have misjudged her. Miss Johnson, you need to leave now.â
âYou canât fire melâ Kate exclaimed, her eyes flashing with anger. âIâm Bradâs girlfriend! Heâll have your school shut downl Sean watched the drama unfold and couldnât suppress a chuckle. âStop making a fool of yourself. Brad can hardly take care of his own issues, let alone shut down a school for you.â
Kate bit her lip, her mind racing back to the night she had confided in Brad about Emma, remembering his indifferent response. It was obvious he wasnât going to help her against Emma.
As Kateâs expression darkened, Emma remained poised and collected. She waited for Sean before she presented her evidence, sealing Kateâs fate.
After the confrontation, some school officials approached Sean to discuss potential collaborations. Sean directed them to his manager and Chapter 46 turned his full attention to Emma.
âEmma, youâre so smart, just like your mom,â Sean said with a fond smile, his admiration for her evident.
Emmaâs smile wavered at the mention of her mother. She missed Stella, whom she had never met.
Noticing the shift in Emmaâs mood, Sean quickly apologized. âIâm sorry, I didnât mean to upset you.â
âWas my mom... smart too?â Emma inquired.
âYes,â Sean nodded, his voice tinged with a mix of pride and sadness. âShe was the brightest of us all, brilliant from a young age.
Many believed she could have been the leading economist of our time, but...â He let out a sigh.
Emma listened, a sense of awe mingling with her surprise. She had never known about her motherâs genius. It seemed Emmaâs sharp intellect might be a family trait.
âLetâs put that aside for now. How do you like the concert ticket I got you?â Sean asked with a warm smile.
âI love it! Iâll definitely be there on time!â Emma replied, her eyes lighting up.
âGreat! Iâve secured the best spot for you and even arranged a little surprise,â Sean assured her.
âThank you, Uncle Sean!â Emma smiled.
âDonât mention it,â Sean said as he affectionately patted her head. âYouâre my precious little princess, Emma.â

Later, when Emma mentioned Sean and the concert to Liam, Liamâs first question was about Seanâs age.
âHe is my uncle. I think heâs in his thirties, perhaps. Maybe late twenties? Heâs definitely younger than my mom...â Emma hesitated when she mentioned her mother. âHeâs really handsome and looks so young!â
Liamâs expression darkened slightly. âHe likes to pat your head, right?â
Emma blushed slightly. âYeah... Are you jealous?â
âIâm coming with you to that concert,â Liam declared.
Emma felt a bit awkward. âBut you probably canât get tickets at this point, right?â She knew that even Kate, with all her wealth, couldnât secure tickets, proving it wasnât just a matter of money.
Liamâs eyes narrowed slightly at her words. âAre you doubting my capabilities?â
âNo, of course not. Well, Iâm going to take a shower first!â Emma quickly excused herself. After all, Sean had mentioned that Brad, such a formidable figure now, was once considered less significant than Liam. It was a reminder of how formidable Liam truly was. She wasnât ready to delve into the darker aspects of Liamâs past.
