Chapter 16: CHP 16

Isn't being a wicked woman so much better?Words: 21421

"A social club."m(_ _)m

I said those words sharply as I was scanning and reading the scattered posters with the introductions of the social clubs.

'One more obstacle I have to overcome.'

The reason I am so worried is that here social clubs are not the kind of clubs that can be chosen purely based on your preferences like university clubs.

The reason Pangea Academy exist is to emphasis the importance of building friendships and connections, rather than academics.

It was so important that many social clubs were formed and developed within the Academy.

If someone is an important person close to their social debut or if a person is making achievements in an important field, the social clubs will begin to fiercely bombard you to join them.

Joining a prestigious social club is the wish of all aristocrats, because it is the definition of their popularity and their subsequent social activities depend on which club they belong to.

The level of the social club is determined by the members themselves, the nobles would use all possible connections in order to join the one that is under the control of the Imperial Family or a high-ranking aristocrat.

'In the original novel, Deborah was part of the social club called Omicron.'

Omicron is a traditional club that exists since the establishment of the Academy, and it is also the club that Mia will join in the near future.

'This club was the epicenter of all problems.'

In the clubs, are divisioned between the men's group,Fraternity, and the women's group ,Sorority, but in the Sorority of Omicron, Deborah had persistently harassed and abused the female protagonist, which ultimately resulted in her severe backlash.

'Let's just avoid this.'

I made a quick decision.

'Because I don't want to get involved with the protagonist,I won't join Omicron.

Is there another club I could join?'

Omicron is a place where family status and bloodlines are highly regarded, making it relatively easy for me to join.

But in the case of Epsilon, Tau, and Stigma all which have a popularity that is comparable to Omicron, is harder to get în because in addition to the skills and personality of the person, reputation is also an important criteria in the selection of a newcomer.

'Deborah's abilities, personality, and reputation are all at rock bottom, so getting in any three of them will be very difficult for me.'

Of course, there are other easy going and less demanding social clubs besides the four major social clubs that are representing the Academy.

'But it would not look good for the princess of Seymour to join a social club run by a leader from a lower-ranking family than me.

If I, the daughter of Duke Seymour will join a third-rate social club, I will be doomed to a long life of shaming the family name and an endless stream of curse words by the Seymour family members.

If it's only shame and curses by them, I would be lucky.

But the biggest problem that I would face, for joining a third-rate club, is no doubt that I would be ignored by the social world, where your reputation prevails over all else.

It is alright that they are afraid of me, but I wont tolerate to be ignored by everyone.

The weaker my position is in the high-ranking society, the more opportunities Belreck will have to send me far away to the western border to marry.

Ahhhhh....my head hurts.'

This unusual setting in this third-rate reverse harem novel is causing me severe headaches, so I pressed hard on my temples.

Apart from Omicron and my doubts on the existence of any other major social club that are willing to accept the infamous Deborah, there was another huge problem that I am facing.

'Am I a magician who can't handle mana?'

Deborah belongs to the Seymour family, so her yearning and fantasies about magic were extraordinary.

Deborah was adamant on studying magic and it is her main major at the Academy.

It is common knowledge and that a person who does not know how to handle mana is unable to enroll in the Faculty of Magic at the Academy.

'But Nnvertheless, I have a reliable and incredible support called Father.'

In addition to his support, his twin brother, Marquis Bert, was the dean of this Academy, so he allowed Deborah to join the Faculty of Magic.

There were many complaints within the Academy due to Deborah's ridiculous favors, and there were many people who did not hide their unpleasant feelings towards Deborah.

"I am fundamentally different from a thousand people like you."

That is what she said every time she felt ignored and became furious,

Deborah would throw away the precious mana stones of the Seymour family as if they were pebbles from the side of the road.

But she did not stop there, she would even beat up the wizards from the lower class.

Deborah's notoriety was known everywhere, but most of the people that labelled her as a wicked woman were the students of the Faculty of Magic in the Academy.

'I really don't want to go.'

The steps I took towards the Magic Research Centre became heavier, heavier and heavier.

While my walk across the campus grounds was very slowly, I spoted a man surrounded by a crowd of people in front of a fountain where a clock tower stood.

'What is going there?'

That tall man's appearance was so spectacular that he immediately caught my eye.

'What is going on with those ugly people around him?'

Due to the spectacular features of that gorgeous man, all the young ladies and young men that were standing around him looked like squids.

'Maybe it's just me,but I feel that the gazes of the young ladies passing by me are so fixated on his face that they lose their balance.'

"Ooo..that is Sir Isidor."

"Oh yeah it is Isidor!"

"You're so much more handsome than the rumors say."

"I think that there is a background that illuminates you, as if.....I'm seeing the halo of an angel."

Praises for his appearance were heard from all over the place.

'Of course, I passionately agree with them.'

"His style is so perfect today.

Ten out of ten."

'They are right,I think anything goes well with that handsome face of his, but his uniform is really a good move,it suits him so well it's like the hand of the Goddess was at work.

The last time I saw him, he looked innocent because he was wearing a white shirt, but today he looks very sexy because of his black frock coat that perfectly emphasizes his broad shoulders and waist.

His hairstyle further accentuates the shape of his forehead and his graceful features stand out more, but simply the man himself exuded a beauty inducing sex drive along with his stunning uniform.

It seems there is no end to my praises.

I am bewitched.'(^_^;)(^^)b

The setting of this novel is lame, but for the people who like beautiful things,it is like a promised land

I was holding a thumbs up internally, and coincidentally met with Isidor eyes, I felt my heart start to beat faster, and I tried my best to calm myself down.

'I am sure that he didn't see me gawking at his beauty, right?'!!( ; ロ)゚ ゚

While I was reproaching myself for my weakness towards handsome men, the young lady's standing around me started to tremble and to pound each other's arms, making a fuss.

"Oh my god, are my eyes deceiving me?"

"He smiled at me."

'We didn't look in each other's eyes, it was clearly a delusion on my part,I was to fascinated...'

"Lady Deborah."

Everyone that was standing around us turned their heads in my direction with dumbfounded looks.

I, too, was in shock from this sudden turn of events.

'Why does he keep talking to me?'

Isidor, lightly strode through the crowd of people, that was dazed in confusion, and stepped forward towards me.

Because his legs were so long the distance between us almost instantly closed.

"Lady Deborah, where are you going?"

Isidor asked his question in a very friendly tone, and his eyes ,that were reflecting good intentions, curved in to a crescent moon.

"Why do you want to know?"

I avoided looking at Isidor's handsome face and answered his question quickly.

Ironically, because of my emotions, my voice came out hoarse and my answer was heard, by those around us, as quiet and cold.

"If you're free, I would like to have tea with you."

"It looks like there are a lot of people here that are willing to spend time with you over a cup of tea."

I pointed my chin towards the crowd.

The people that were around Isidor just a few minutes ago did not come any closer because they were afraid of me, they only gossiped on the sidelines and carefully looked in our direction.

"You don't have to worry about other people."

Isidor leaned slightly torward me, and whispered. He had a deep, soft low voice that echoed in my eardrums.

'This man...he is truly a sexy sly fox.'

"Do I look like a big hearted person who cares about others?

Are you being tactless or just pretending to be?"

I tried my best to hold on to my chaotic mind, and uttered some prickly words.

"Hahaha!"

He suddenly laughed, as if I said something funny.

"Why?Is this really a situation for you to laugh about?"

"You are the first woman who is so indifferent to me and treated me so coldly."

"Well,I am very busy."

I turned around to leave.

"That's too bad. I wanted to talk to you about social clubs."

'Social clubs?'

Isidor's unexpected yet tempting proposal caught my attention.

'If it is about the social club where the successor of Visconti is, then it is definitely not a bad place for me to join.

Furthermore, because the novel did not include a character named Isidor, it is obvious that he is not a part of the Omicron club.

But why didn't Isidor made an appearance in the novel?

With that face, he definitely looks like he is the main character, I don't have any information about Isidor since he was not part in the protagonist's reverse harem.

I don't even now what he is up to, and I have no idea about his hidden intention while he is approaching me.

I think it is better to ask the Blancia master to collect information about Isidor Visconti.'

As I hesitated I slightly turned my head back, towards Isidor.

I couldn't understand why he approached me, but I couldn't let go of this chance.

"I have to go to class now.We can talk later."

After gave him an ambiguous answer, and quickly made my way to the Magic Research Center.

The magical research center gave off a dark vibe, like a that of gloom and dampness.

I felt uneasy, and felt as if mana was being forcibly poured into my body.

Deborah's body had no choice but to be constantly reminded that it was not compatible with mana at all.

'It is because I don't have any other ability, so there is nothing I can do to help me survive, other than money.'

Once again I was reminded of the dire need for gold coins....I crossed the hallway that was illuminated by mana stones, deep in thought.

Today's class was about magic formulas.

'Since I can't handle mana,I have to focus entirely on the theoretical subjects.

Everyone knows that you can't use anything in practice until you learn the theory....but I don't even know the basic things.

It is like trying to clap with one hand.'

I entered the classroom while clicking my tongue to my unfortunate mana disability, and the commotion that was heard even outside the classroom stopped instantlywhen I entered, and all the students looked at me in horror.

'I think that I am gradually getting used to this kind of looks.'

So I found myself a suitable desk to sit at.

I felt relieved and comfortable because I seem to be doing an excellent job at being a wicked woman without a problem.

After a while.

A man with a haggard face wearing a black robe entered in the auditorium, alongside his assistant.

The assistant had tired and gloomy expression, a slouching posture, and dark circles under his eyes apparent from lack of sleep.

For some unknown reason, It felt familiar.

'Why does the atmosphere emanating from the assistant seems similar to an engineering student?'

Belreck has also been stuck in the tower for quiet some time, and I haven't seen his nose for a while now.

When I asked the maid about him, she said that he was having a problem with the production of an artifact that he worked tirelessly on.

When I bumped in to him in the hallway last week, he just passed by me as if he didn't want to start a fight with me like he always does.

'Was it because he was too tired?

Perhaps the work of a wizard is similar to the hard work of an engineer that handles 3D models,'

It made me wonder if my disability in handling mana is a blessing in disguised.

Baam!

While I was sitting relaxed, the assistant standing next to the magician took out a huge pile of handouts and put them on the desk with a huge bang.

The magician tilted his chin slightly towards the handouts.

"What you see in front of you here is the formula that you need to learn and master within this quarter.

All those who are not willing to learn, or those who are to weak in logical thinking will have a hard time to keep up."

The magician spoke in with an irritable tone.

His intimidating gaze gave the students anxiety as they exchanged uneasy glances between each other.

'Oooo..after meeting only meek and mild lecturers until now I felt relieved but now I feel depressed after meeting this strict and spicy professor.

I feel like I returned to my previous life.'

"Today, you will only need to pass one light and easy test, that is all.

After solving the problem, you can hand over the form and leave."

The magician, who teaches the class everyday, left the classroom quickly and only his assistant remained in front of us.

'A sudden formula test.'(つд⊂)

Throughout the vacancion, I have studied about magic circles, but because Deborah hated magic formuls, there was very little information about them in the pieces of her memory left behind.

'It seems I can't solve it so I will just have to sit for a while before I leave.

What a waste of time.'

I, myself, have no idea why I am here in the first place. I am the only one that can't even feel mana.

'I just want to quit everything.

But in the past, Deborah was the one who insisted on getting in the Faculty of Magic,if I suddenly go back on my word, Duke Seymour will definitely reproach me and say that he knew that this would be the outcome.

How can I escape from....'

While I was busy devising a safe method to escape from this place, the assistant began writing the questions for the test on the blackboard, producing that high pitched sound of chalk scratching the board.

'......?'

When I carefully looked at the blackboard with the problems written on it, I was confident that I could solve them. So, I picked up my quill and got down to business.

I was the first to submit the answer sheet on the table and left the class.

...............

"Why is the correct answer written on this sheet, when half of the curriculum has not yet been covered?"

"This is Princess Deborah's answer sheet."

Kyle, the magic formula professor, frowned and clicked his tongue when heard the assistant's answer.

"She must have threatened another student and copied the answer. It's just as the rumors say.

How did such a pathetic human being appeared in the Seymour family?"

If the twin heirs of the Seymour frustrated the wizards with their monstrous talents, then Princess Deborah only raised serious questions and doubts about how she was from the same bloodline as the elite pair.

"This is annoying."

Kyle grumbled in a harsh tone, throwing her answer sheet on the floor.

He wanted to call her and scold her for cheating, but the owner of the magic tower protected her. He would probably only hurt himself if he did so.

However, if he pretended not to know about this and turned a blind eye, there would be a problem of equality. His credibility and authority as a professor would be undermined.

He scratched the back of his head nervously.

"I have to call her in and say something about cheating, right? Damn it.... I'm not a nanny, and I'm so busy nowadays,I don't have the time to teach her some common sense."

"But, Princess Deborah was the first to write down the answer and submit it before leaving.

Based on this fact, you can't argue that she cheated."

"Really?"

"Yes, no matter how quickly you can solve the formulas, it would take about fifteen minutes, but she solved it within five."

"Aha, I got it. It must have happened by accident,Princess Deborah is a very incapable girl who just got lucky."

"Maybe."

"Oh, it is not just luck, she also has a pretty face, but it's not my cup of tea because she looks to strong."

"I don't like that style either."

"If she marries in a good family, perhaps her disposition will subside. Why did she come here without even knowing how to handle mana? Some people that are capable of drawing magic circles and memorizing complex formulas even died trying to set food in this Magic Research Center."

Kyle muttered annoyingly and kicked Princess Deborah's answer sheet with the tip of his foot.

................

As soon as I got home, I called the servant and told him to get ready because I was going to the library, located in an another annex of the mansion.

The reason is becsuse I was wondering if I understood and solved the formula correctly.

'It is pretty big, but, still quite small when compared to a university library.'

There where barely any information about the library operated by the Seymour family, in Deborah's memories.

'It is clear how much time this body spent among books.'

The librarian was shocked when he saw me. My appearance there was an unexpected event for him.

"Princess Deborah,is there a specific book that you are looking for?"

The librarian asked with a voice filled with suspicion.

As compared to the other employees in the Seymour household, he had no problem being around me.

Probably, they hired a person of a higher social status than the others.

'Well, just simply being a librarian means that you have received a higher education.

I guess he is an influential one to be this brave in front of me.'

"I just want to look around for now."

At my reply, the librarian sighed briefly and looked at my high heeled shoes.

He looked as if he was dealing with an immature child.

"To save you some unnecessary trouble, I should inform you that this prestigious library is composed mainly of magic books and the history of the Empire, and it does not consists of any romance novels that are popular among young ladies."

'What the hell is this bastard talking about?'

If it was the past me, if I heard something offensive, I would have let it go with a smile,I thought it was good to live smoothly without any trouble.

But not now, not when I have woken up from the dead.

That holding your temper back brings fortune is a lie.

'If I hold back now, I will only get constipation.'

"That is really disappointing."

I replied, staring at him.

The librarian face, which was triumphant with a That's right, look, hardened at my following words.

"I can't believe that a librarian is someone narrow minded like this.

I feel that my Father has given a job that is too demanding to a petty person that has only stubbornness in his mind."

"WWW-What do you mean with narrow minded?

Your words are to harsh."

I snapped quickly at the man, who started stuttering as if my words where unexpected.

"How can I not say that you are narrow minded?

When it seems like you are boasting about the library not having books in a wide range of areas?"

"But it has a lot of excellent books, so is there any reason for it to have third-rate novels that are of no help at all?"

"Is third-rate an evaluation you made yourself after reading them?"

"It's obvious even if you don't read them!"

"Well,I guess you don't think your attitude of not checking the contents of a book properly is belittling someone's creation, and judging it as being third-rate isn't narrow minded at all.

Your attitude of not admitting your own narrow mindednes until the end is also very narrow minded. Don't you think?"

I continued to use the word narrow minded, provoking his selfrespect, and reached for the library ledger lying on his desk before he found any words to refute.

"It is very disappointing that you offered yourself to guide me through the library when you have been managing it so poorly."

In my past life I worked part-time at a library during the holidays.

I clicked my tongue while looking at the classification system here.

Since books are valuable and the quantity is considerably smaller compared to modern times, the system for managing books is less sophisticated.

"What kind of book are you looking for?

If it's not a third-class publication, I will find it right away."

He still couldn't admit his mistakes and was stubborn.

"A book with formulas about 3-class magic. Can you find it without wandering a single step?"

He hesitated, when he heard my request for such a specific book.

Judging from the library classification system, it could take you right to the area where the books about magical formulas are, but finding a 3-class book without wandering was hard.

'There is no computer here,so you can't use a book search function.'

"If you let your body take just one step carelessly, you know how I am, right?"

I pretended to cross my neck with my finger.

The librarian kept his head down at my threat, and apologized

"I am sorry...Prrr-Princess Deborah"

But I didn't even think about kindly letting this go.

"Maybe I have been too soft on the servants this whole time.

I can't believe there is someone who can be so impolite to a Princess like this, no matter how powerful of a vassal he may be."
