Chapter 54: CHP 54

Isn't being a wicked woman so much better?Words: 9540

The next morning.

As soon as Duke Seymour returned from his land, I was immediately called to his office, and his expression was not good.

'He was probably informed right when he arrived that I had given Madame Carol a bald spot.'

Most nannies from high-ranking noble families have good origins. So even if I am the Seymour Princess, I knew that I would have to suffer some repercussions, because what I did crossed the line.

In addition, Enrique's nanny is Duke Seymour's second cousin an indirect relative of Seymour.

'That is why he never doubted her character, he believed in their blood ties and because she was someone close to him.

Madame Carol had a good reputation, even Enrique's maid, the one I bought off, thought that she was very motivated in taking care of Enrique.

Duke Seymour is cold by nature so he isn't attentive to his children, only when it's necessary, so he probably thought that a nanny with a strong and aggressive character was a good fit for Enrique.

But she is no different from a psychopath. She was so meticulous in her planning everything, she is even creepier...'

"Deborah, why did you do this?"

To my surprise Duke Seymour wasn't angry, instead he was calm an only talked with a serious tone.

'Well, now, he probably thinks that there must be a serious reason for my actions. If it were in the past, he would have been angry even before he saw me, however Duke Seymour attitude towards me changed a lot.'

I looked straight at him and answered.

"Actually, I regret that I stopped then. I should have made her whole head bald, so I am angry that I was not able to do more. And If Father doesn't do it, I will definitely punish that nanny."

I pulled out the magic stone with the recording function with which I recorded what happened that day. It contained every word that nanny uttered while she rushed after Enrique like she lost her mind, because she couldn't control him.

That day, because he didn't come to our tutoring class, I went to the separate building to check if he was sick, that is when I found the nanny and Enrique confronting each other in the rain.

If Enrique hadn't tried to come to class, in the library, running through the heavy rain while trying to get rid of his nanny, it would have been hard to make Duke Seymour understand why I did that without evidence.

'It would have been a fight between Madam Carol and me to find out who was in the wrong .'

"Your mother had to sacrifice her life for you to be born. So how could Princess Deborah, her daughter, care about you?"...Your mother's death anniversary is approaching, so the Lord will be sad. If you don't want him to hate you, you have to be more courteous and study harder... Arghhh!!!"

Madame Carols brutal words mixed with the heavy noise from the rain was heard from the magic stone.

When Duke Seymour heard the recording, his eyes glowed sharply as he got furious, and the temperature in the study, dropped suddenly, to the point goosebumps appeared on my arms.

It was not until today that I realized that I was too generous with the others to the point that this happened.

Duke Seymour's expression was cold enough to make the hearts of those looking at him, tremble. He then rose from his seat, giving off a dreary atmosphere like that of a poisonous sea serpent ready to attack.

Madame Carol was removed from the Seymour mansion immediately. She was laid off without anyone knowing. So from the outside, it would seem like she quit her job due to unforeseen circumstances.

In the past, I would have thought that Duke Seymour took another cold measure to protect the honor of the family. But since I saw his cold and infuriated face, I can now understand why he did that.

'It must be because as Enrique's parent he wishes that he won't be hurt by what happened, and that no rumors would be spread about him.'

The annual birthday banquet was omitted, and Enrique spent his birthday alone with Duke Seymour.

I don't know whst father and son talked about, but Enrique looked like he cried.

Because the day after his birthday, when we gathered to eat together, except for Rosad, Enrique's eyes were swollen like that of a crucian carp.

So I assumed that the conversation went well because even though his face looked miserable, Enrique vigorously emptied all the dishes that had meat in them, and after eating, Duke Seymour patted his head softly.

'I am happy.'

"Sister!"

After dinner, Enrique quickly followed me back to the separate building. So we walked together, matching his short and quick steps while I arranged his disheveled silver hair from his forehead.

"Enrique, I guess you followed so quickly after me because you are angry that I didn't give you a gift."

"No, it's not like that!"

Because I played mischievously again, Enrique floundered his arms energetically in denial. His reaction was so cute, it made me want to tease him more.

'I feel like my personality keeps getting worse.'

I swallowed a laugh and gently stroked Enrique's cute head.

"What do you mean it's not like that. You seemed to be disappointed that only my gift was missing from the gift table."

"... I wasn't."😣

However, Enrique's lips were pointed out like that of a chick, he was pouting in disappointment.

"Do you really think I didn't prepare a gift for my disciple? You do know that the best things usually come at the end, right?"

When he heard my words curiosity flashed through his big eyes.

"Seriously?"

"Yes."

I grabbed Enrique's hand and walked to the library to give him a large gift box.

"This is your gift."

Enrique couldn't hide his embarrassment while he pulled out a toy mage with a wand. That was a gift he was already fed up with because he already received three of those top-quality toys today. The toy had a lightning orb on the tip of the wand and emitted a thundering sound when tapped.

'Because he is the youngest in a family of mages, everyone gave him a toy mage. Everyone, including me, has a terrible taste in picking presents.'(-_-;)・・

"Thank you."

After thanking me politely, Enrique looked at the toy with a serious expression and then he found a notebook inside the box that was illuminated by the toy wand.

"What is this?"

Enrique asked while he picked up the light purple notebook.

"Mother's diary."

'Technically, it is more of a scribbling notebook than a diary. It contains meaningful phrases from poems and novels that she liked and also some random things like information about certain flowers and birds, even games like crossword puzzles.

I was originally planning to bargain with Duke Seymour once more using this journal, but I decided to give it to Enrique. I can't be cruel to a child. Besides, Enrique is too cute.

How can I not give it to him when he is such a lovable person just by existing?'

"..."

Enrique's eyes widened in surprise.

"I was taking a stroll through the rose garden the other day and stumbled upon it."

'This notebook was used by the Duchess during the time she was pregnant with Enrique, and there were a lot of things related to him written in it.'

I hoped that when Enrique would read the Duchess words filled with affection towards him, he would realize he was precious to her.

*Baby, Mommy doesn't know yet, how lovely you are.*

Enrique flipped the page with shaky hands.

*Your presence gives me such happiness.*

*What about calling the baby Enrique if it is a boy and Erina if it is a girl? I would prefer to ask Juliette about it, because my busy husband would say that everything is fine.*

Enrique read and reread the sentence where his name appeared as if he were engraving it in his mind.

"Did Mother really write this?"

Enrique could barely speak, choking on his emotions.

"If you have doubts, ask Father to show you Mother's letter. If you compare them you will see that the handwriting is the same."

"Is it alright to give me something so precious?"

Enrique's voice trembled as he spoke.

"It is a diary in which Mother wrote about how much she treasures you and how lovely you are, so of course it is."

Enrique's big eyes filled with tears that were pouring down his white cheeks uncontrollably.

"Keep it a secret from father. He may want to take it away if he knows about it. After all I am not as powerful as him."

I tried to lighten the mood with a joke but Enrique's tears still didn't stop pouring.

I wiped his wet cheeks with my hands many times, and gently hugged his trembling little body.

"I am sorry."

His uncontrollable crying made my heart ache. I couldn't even imagine how hard it must have been for him, feeling anxious, lonely and depressed all that time, all on his own.

"I am really sorry for being late."

Enrique shook his head furiously in my arms.

"Enrique, at times like this you should be upset with me and ask why I was so late. Call your sister a slow-witted idiot and be angry with her."

"You are not an idiot!"

Enrique yelled and he looked up at me with his big eyes filled with tears.😿

"Alright, but from this moment on, you have to be sincere with your feelings and emotions just like this. Do you understand?"

I wish that someone would have said this to me in my past life, because I always cowered away afraid of being hated.

"I am on your side, no matter what."

It seemed that my words were a switch, because the moment he heard them, Enrique grabbed my clothes and started to weep louder.

"If someone bothers you, just tell me. Next time, I am going to make sure that that person will be completely bald."

I stroked Enrique's cute head gently, while I spoke coldly like a villain.
