Chapter 25: Chapter 24

It has been 9 days since the fight and I’m sunbathing on a small island in the middle of the pacific ocean. We had a mission over here 1 year and a half ago and I fell in love with this beautiful island and the blue of the sea. I bought a small house with its own private beach and right now it’s the best investment I have ever done!

Thinking about Serena, my family and everything that had happened for the last 3 years is still difficult and painful. But the weather and the perfect temperature of the water is helping me to feel better. I still don’t know what I should do? What do I want to do? I mean maybe step down is not a bad idea. I never wanted to be the queen anyway.

The train of my thoughts got thrown when I feel a presence and eyes on me. I’m in full alert right away. Nobody knows I’m here and this is a private beach so nobody should be here either. I try to smell but who is here is hiding its smell. So this is not normal, something is no right here.

“Who is there?” I ask getting out of my long chair.

I see a Lycan, I have never met, going out of the bush. I think I already saw a picture of him in my father’s office but he is bulkier and his hair is longer, much longer.

“You’re Emmett?” I say but it’s more a statement than a question I know it’s the same man.

He doesn’t answer and starts to walk toward me. He is really impressive with his hulk stature. I’m stepping back to keep a safe distance between us.

“Not a talker, I see. Are you here to kill me?” I ask him. I killed Serena and even if she was not her real daughter, she was the only being carrying his mate’s blood.

“No! Why I will kill you?” He finally says surprised.

“Because I killed Serena.” I reply hesitating.

“What! When?”

“A week ago, she was plotting against me. She deserved to die so I can’t tell you that I’m sorry if it’s what you came for.”

“No, I don’t want to hear your apologies. I’m here because I can’t stop thinking about you.”

“Oh great, another one. Don’t come t0o close or I would have to neutralize you.” I tell him.

“What do you mean another one?”

“You’re under a Love potion and you want to mark me now.”

“That explains why I’m obsessed with you! No, I will not try to mark you. I’m fighting it, don’t you see!”

“Good but if you come too close, I will break your neck.” I warn him. That will not kill him but he will be out for some time.

“Do it if I become too dangerous for you. Moreover, if I touch you, your father will kill me this time.” He replies.

Not wrong.

“How did you find me?” I ask.

“I don’t know? I just followed my instincts.”

“That does make any sense!”

He shrugs.

“What are you doing here ?” He asks me.

“Taking holidays.”

“You know, I might not be involved in the Lycan’s life but I heard rumors about you. Do you want to tell me your version?”

“Only if you tell me yours.”

“Deal.”

As we shared our stories, I find out he is a good listener. And it’s helping to speak about everything with someone from outside. He spent the last 18 years traveling and helping people in need. He is doing the good around him. I finished explaining to him about the reborn of Team L. I could see him working with us. I tell him about my doubts about being the next Queen but he didn’t say anything about that. The evening comes fast and I finish to propose him to stay with me for a few days and he has accepted.

Emmett is staying with me for 16 days now and even if I had to break his neck 5 times, it’s good to have company. I think he is not anymore under the Love potion, thanks, goddess! I went snorkeling when I wake up and after 2 hours in the water, it’s time for breakfast. When I enter the house, I can smell eggs and bacon. Yummy! Emmett cooked for us!

“Good morning! How are you?” I say sitting on the kitchen table.

" Hey, little missy, how are you?”

“I’m good. Enjoying my freedom. Freedom, I will not have if I’m becoming the Queen one day.” I sigh smiling.

“You know, you will have to go back one day.” He tells me.

“No, I don’t!”

“Stop lying to yourself, little missy. We both know you have no choice, unfortunately. But the good thing is you will be a great Queen. You are fair and kindhearted. And you don’t want to be Queen.”

“Why is that a good thing? Me, not wanted to be Queen?”

“Because being angry power is too dangerous. It means you will forget the real purpose of your function, which is helping people and protect them.”

“But I don’t want to be a puppet and just give people what they want.”

“You don’t have too. You can be badass Selina and do as you want. You are our future Queen. It will be difficult and boring so at least you have to do it your way. You’re going to do a great job.”

“Badass Selina, I like that!” I say smiling.

He laughs.

“Thank you for listening! I’m happy you found me.” I say hugging him.

He hugs me back b

“Stay away from her!” Dad screams.

I turn around and I see in my kitchen my parents, Tom, Noah, and his fathers. Emmett steps back and I come in front of him. I don’t like how they all looking at him.

“What the fuck! What are you doing here?”

“Fynn told us they put a love potion in one of Emmett’s beer. When we tried to locate him, he was hiding by a spell. We got scared he found you. And he did.” Tom says.

“Well, as you can see. Everything is fine! No new bite mark. You can go now.” I’m in my swimsuit so they can see I’m safe and sound and I’m not lying.

“Why were you hugging him?” Dad asks.

“It was just a friendly hug!” I reply, rolling my eyes.

“So he did try anything?” He asks again.

“I-” Emmett starts but I cut him before he got himself killed.

“Not. Not at all. He was able to fight it!” I say firmly.

“Do you know how you found me?” I ask Noah and his father.

“He added some of my blood in the potion. They were all able to find you by our bond. The same way, I found you now.” Noah replies.

I roll my eyes. Fucking mate bond!

“Well, you all saw that I’m fine. So you can leave now.”

“You have to go back, Selina. It’s been 25 days now. We are all sorry and we are all missing you like crazy.” Dad tells me.

“I will come back when I will be ready. I don’t want to see you now!”

“Sweetie, I know I shouldn’t have said what I told you. It was my pain speaking for me but we need you.” He keeps going.

“And I need time to heal! But don’t worry your friend here is working on at.”

“Really?” He says with hope.

“Yep, and you are not helping!” Emmett says.

“Okay, I will go but promise you will be back soon.”

“I will take the time I need!” I say.

“Fine! Can I hug you at least?”

I nod and he runs towards me, taking me in his arms.

“I love you more than anything!” He whispers in my ears.

When we split, he walks towards Emmett and hugs him too. Mom comes to hug me right away, whispering in my ears how she loves me and I can take the time I need.

“It’s nice to see you again my friend. I was losing hope to see you again.” He tells him.

“I know, sorry. It’s just impossible to come back after the mess I did.” Emmett replies.

“Please, pass to say hello at the castle.” Mom tells him.

Tom hugs me and tells me: ” Call me every two days or I’m coming to check on you.”

I smile:” You know I have a big brother for that.”

“Yeah but I’m your protector. Take care princess.” He says kissing my forehead.

“You too Thomas!”

Noah wants to say something but it keeps for himself After drinking a coffee they all left. Uncle Al and Noah told me we will speak about Fynn when I will be back, “to give me another reason to come back soon.”
