Chapter 9: Episode 9 Piggyback

Pieces of My Universe 🧩💗Words: 11319

I myself, have noticed a spark between her and Jay lately. Wait a minute, I think Janet had mentioned his name a minute ago.

"Janet, were you trying to tell me something about you and Jay?" This time giving her my full attention.

"Yeah, but it can wait, miss Nina over there looks too chummy with your boyfriend. If I didn't know any better, I would have thought Calvin, is her boyfriend." I have to do something right now, before Janet blows up at the two of them.

Great, Janet's giving Nina and Calvin her evil daggers, I hope she doesn't put a hex on them. I need to come up with a plan pronto to get Calvin's full attention.

Janet and I had ended up tailing behind the group. As they were walking across the school lawn, about to enter the building. So, it's now or never to make my move. Impulsively Dashing towards Calvin, in my high heel shoes, was a feat in itself! Using my best whining girlfriend's voice, I yelled at him realizing I'm not going to be able to catch up to them, in these shoes.

"Calvin, Calvin, my feet hurt wait up, I have to talk to you!" I think Calvin could hear my shoes clicking against the pavement. Considering he quickly turned around to see where the sound was coming from, before he heard me yell his name. To my surprise, he quickly left Nina and the rest of the group, to run back to help me.

"Why did you wear these heels to school? Knowing you would end up skipping, and all the stairs you have to walk up and down all day." Lecturing me as he jogs over with a big grin on his face. It's cute how he cares about me being comfortable.

"I wore them to match my skirt, also I wanted to look cute today! My baby toes have blisters, which serves me right for walking to school in high heels this morning. I should remember to pack sneakers next time and switch them out when I need to." I responded to Calvin. Sitting my ass down on the curb in front of the school, taking off my high heel shoes.

Standing beside me Janet's smoking the last of her cigarette, smirking down at me. Calvin plops himself down next to me. Taking a look at my toes, which is embarrassing me, because I have never been a fan of feet. Especially when it comes to people looking directly at my big feet.

"Class will be starting any minute now. Hop up I'll give you a piggyback ride to class, don't forget to grab your shoes." Taking my hand Calvin pulls me up on to my feet. He turns around, and I hop on to his back. Wrapping my arms around his neck, Janet hands me my shoes, as she mouthed to me quietly "Well played!"

While Calvin carries me through the school lawn, I feel Nina's eyes on me, burning with jealousy. Sitting on the cement stairs of the school building. Apparently, Nina is in no hurry to get to class without talking to Calvin. Or perhaps, is she waiting for me? I am conflicted, are we competing for Calvin's affection for real? Maybe, I am reading too much into it, and this is all just part of the act. If so, we could get Oscar nominations for how real this performance feels!

Is Nina trying to play me for a fool or is Calvin, cause the lines are starting to become super blurry and I need some 20/20 vision on this mess! Hope I can figure this out soon before I lose my mind.

Sneaking back into the school after skipping class, Calvin insisted on carrying me all the way to the greenhouse science classroom. Trailing from not so far behind was Nina and Janet. It makes sense that Janet would be following us, since we have science class together. I am not sure why Nina was also tagging along. I have my suspicions though. Either one, she wants to talk with me alone to clear up this whole mess. Or two, she wants to get Calvin alone to work her own angle with him.

All I am aware of at this exact moment is that I am being carried by my boyfriend! He is the tallest, cutest, two timing, yet caring guy. Ugh, this guy flusters me! Calvin also amuses me; he is unlike any of these boys at this school. Come to think of it, he is similar to my long-distance boyfriend Jared. They both are from out of state, are super confident and super tall. And they have blonde hair and blue eyes. Let's not forget how cocky and charming they are. While my mind is racing, Calvin is rushing through the halls full of people to get me to class on time.

I must hand it to Calvin, he carried me up the stairs to the first main hall, then all the way down to the other end of the school. Then down two flights of stairs to the science wing on the basement floor, through the hordes of students. Where my science teacher Mr. Mayo, was always waiting for his students by his classroom door.

"Mr. Filmore, do you know the rules about PDA in the school halls, or did they not have this rule in your old school?" Mr. Mayo was not impressed with Calvin carrying me around, he had made it very clear with the way he was eyeballing us.

"Now, you, miss Picozzi, have no excuses, clearly you know the rules!" Mr. Mayo said to me with a look of a disappointed father, God knows I could have used one!

Calvin being his cocky self was not even slightly fazed by Mr. Mayo. He looked him straight in the eyes. Giving Mr. Mayo that half smile of his.

"Mr. Mayo, good to see your keeping track of all the rules for me, thanks man! I hate to get into trouble helping a fellow student. Who was not thinking this morning, when she decided to wear high heels to school. That caused her to get blisters and then couldn't walk to class. This is why I am carrying her. You can now thank me, for bringing her here, so she didn't miss your class!" Calvin replied.

Stretching out my arm in front of Calvin's face, dangling my heels in my hand. for Mr. Mayo to see that Calvin was telling the truth. Even though the way he said it made it sound sexist about how woman don't think. Oh well, I will just use their small, minded assumptions to my own advantage then. 😊

"Mr. Mayo, I really appreciate you looking out for us girls around here! Calvin is telling the truth, my feetsies hurt to walk on." Sticking my feet out at him, wiggling my foot close to his face., so he knew I wasn't lying. Let me tell you, Mr. Mayo is not at all impressed with me acting like a three-year-old.

Mr. Mayo only stands about 5-foot 6inches tall, and his round belly reminds me of Santa clause. He always finds a way to make his students laugh, during every greenhouse class. I am pretty sure that is why Mr. Mayo holds the record for most students that show up to his classroom. Besides that, most of his class work is hands on with plants. Mr. Mayo doesn't play around; he is a strict teacher. As well as being one of the most kind and caring human beings.

Mr. Mayo looked over Calvin's shoulder as he noticed Janet standing there waiting to get into the classroom.

"Miss Cratsley, why don't you help Mr. Filmore, and the rest of the students here get to class, by helping him get Miss Picozzi off his back!" Mr. Mayo said to Janet, with a small quiet chuckle. You can sense he is amused with us, but as a teacher he has rules to uphold.

Turning my head to see who's behind me. Horrified to notice there is a line forming behind us, waiting to get into Mr. Mayo's classroom. I feel my face getting hotter by the second. Wanting to run away and hide from the embarrassment and awkwardness of this conversation. Boy, oh boy, do I wish I had just worn my sneakers today!

Why couldn't I have been dressed like Janet today, she always dresses for comfort and skipping class. Janet was wearing her usual ensemble, a pair of baggy skater jeans and a cool punk tee shirt. She topped it off with her flannel shirt and some Air Walks for sneakers.

All I can think about now is my Air Walks, how they are like walking on clouds. Oh, how I wish I had worn my Air Walks today! But Nooo, here I am in a plaid schoolgirl short skirt, that is just barely covering my panties for all the students in line to see. while I am riding piggyback on Calvin as a result of my stupidity, over choosing to wear these heels. In order to teach Mr. Filmore a lesson, now instead I am the one getting taught a lesson here!

Janet standing behind me, pulling down my skirt, trying to hide my bloomers from the student body. she turns her head to stare at Mr. Mayo through her long jet-black hair.

"Mr. Mayo I would be happy to help, but first don't you think we should let the rest of the class in?" Winking at Mr. Mayo, I nod my head towards Hannah's skirt. Hoping he gets the hint. If Hannah jumps down now everyone in line will get a peep show.

"Ah, yes Miss Cratsley that is a good idea! Mr. Filmore, Miss Picozzi, please step aside to allow the students into the classroom." Giving us a grin. Mr. Mayo followed behind the students into his classroom. Leaving Janet, Calvin and myself. I'm still hanging on Calvin's back like a baby koala. Why is Nina still here, when she should be in class right now.

"Hey Hannah, I really like to get to know you better. I think we could become great friends!" Feeling jealousy boiling up in me. From having to witness Hannah perched up on my crushes back.

"We should hang out sometime!" The way Nina is glaring at me, I'm not so sure I believe her.

Especially when she is poking Calvin in the forearm flirtatiously, looking deep into his eyes. Batting her eyelashes over her big green eyes at him, as if I was invisible. That little vixen, she keeps on forgetting he's, my Ken. Oops, I mean my boyfriend!

"I'll save you a seat in class, right next to me Calvin. We'll talk then!" Spinning myself around I headed to class. knowing what I said to her boyfriend, would get her goat! Don't forget Hannah, I can play this game too, satisfied with my actions.

Feeling flabbergasted at what I had just witnessed, I have no clue what to say or do! Holding my skirt down I quickly slid off Calvin's back.

Calvin turned around to face me, gently tilting my chin up, ever so slightly. Bending his head down, he placed his lips on mine, for a soft touching kiss. He backed away Smoothly, Giving me that flirtatious cocky smile of his. Afterwards without uttering a single word, Calvin took off down the hall.

"You sure do pick the charming ones!" I blurted out. After awkwardly observing their intimate moment. I felt like the fourth wheel, in whatever just happened here with that Nina chick. That girl sure has some balls, coming for Calvin, with Hannah on his back like that!

"Charming yes, but that boy is very sneaky!" Replying to Janet, with my head still tilted up where he had left it. Still in shock and awe, from his goodbye kiss.

Do you think Nina's tricking Hannah, or is Calvin the one fooling her? Maybe both? We'll find out as the series goes on, and we'll also get to know more about Hannah's friend group.
