Adrita's POV

An old lady sneers at me and throws a disapproving look at my continuous foot tappings, mumbling out a quick apology, I stop tapping my foot but soon my fingers start playing with the small rose pendant resting around my neck as I stare at the office door with anticipating eyes.

Today was Anirudh's chance to turn his intern self into a full-time employee. So here I stood, patiently waiting for him to come out of the office and give me the good news.

15 minutes later, a lean figure made his way towards me but the look I was hoping for was nowhere in sight. His shoulders seemed to get tenser and tenser as he neared, his eyes downcasted not meeting mine.

My heart clenches as I take in his state, so much that I start to ramble, "It's okay Mr Cinderella! Stuff happens. You will get a better job! With much better pay and a much better reputation. The employees over here don't even know how to interview...Honestly, Dad should revaluate the employee choices. How can they refuse you?"

My voice gets lost somewhere when two strong arms slither around my waist, and I am tugged forward into Anirudh's embrace.

My eyes close on their own as I hug him back. The feeling of embracing your beloved is usually described in terms of butterflies and sparks but what I feel now is way too mesmerising to be described in abstract terms.

A lover's embrace feels like listening to your favourite old soft song; just you and the forgotten melody. Your eyes close on their own as the music seeps in, a smile shapes on your lips as you try to mumble out the lyrics, and your heart clenches blissfully as you find yourself venturing into a different world.

"I made it, princess charming." He hums, as he nudges his chin comfortably into my neck. Shocked, I pushed myself back to stare at his face.

"You made it?" I implore.

"Yup."

"Yess!" I squeal happily and jump on my spot. Slithering my arms around his neck I swayed us back and forth as I hugged him.

"You wore the necklace." He states, eyeing the necklace with his mesmerising eyes.

"Yeah. It's beautiful."

In my excited state our closeness didn't register in my stupid brain but the moment it settled down, I could feel my cheeks warming, and my heart thudding a loud tune. I gaze up to stare at my nervous image reflecting in his eyes. The pinkish hue just the same tone as his, adorned my cheeks as I nibbled on my lips to think of something coherent.

Removing myself from his embrace I quickly mumble "Let's go."

I grin at the baffled form of Anirudh as he accepts the little gifts from the sunshine kids; five rupee pens, small handmade cards, packets of kurkure and chips.

Every time he receives something he stares at the kid and tries to remember their name but always fails except with one kid; Anmol.

"He gave me little hearts." Anirudh whispers in awe."I thought he hated me!" He adds as he stares back and forth at the little hearts and the little Anmol.

"He knows you now."

Anirudh stares at me with an unreadable expression after I say those words. His eyes soften as he nods in agreement.

Holding my hand, he turns it around so that my left palm faces upward. Placing a little heart on it, he clasps it with his fingers. I stare at him, bewildered by his little action.

But the next thing he did took my breath away. Closing whatever little gap between us he placed his lips on my forehead, his little forehead kiss emanating a thousand unknown feelings inside me.

Stepping back, he stares at me again with the same unreadable expression and whispers,

"You are my ray of sunshine,  Adrita."
