It was the day of Sana's engagement. The guests started coming. Sana's parents were busy welcoming them while Sana was getting ready. Meanwhile Sid went to Raj's room without getting noticed by anyone.
"Neeche sab busy hai na?" Asked Raj seeing Sid.
"Haan haan tu uski fikar mat kar. Bas kaise bhi kar ke yeh dawai Harry ke juice mein mila ke usse woh juice pila dena." Said Sid and handed Raj a medicine.
"Maine woh caterer wali ko paise de ke set kar diya hai. Harry ko behosh kar ke caterer wali ke saath iss kamre mein lock kar denge. Ek baar gharwalon ne dono ko ek saath compromising situation mein dekh liya, yeh shaadi cancel hone se kisi ka Baap nahi rok sakta."
"Yeh toh bilkool sahi baat kahi tune....."
Raj suddenly stopped when he saw Parminder Ji standing at the door. She was fuming in anger.
"Mummy..." He uttered in shock. Sid also looked at Parminder Ji and became shocked too. They both gulped their saliva.
Parminder Ji went towards them and looked at both of them angrily.
"Aunty woh....."
Before he could complete, a sound of slap echoed.
Raj kept his palm on his right cheek.
"Mera bas chalta toh dono ko maarti. Par kya karu? Paraye Bete ke upar haath nahi utha sakti." She said angrily. Sid's heart ached hearing that.
"Lekin Raj, tujhse yeh umeed nahi thi. Bada Bhai ho ke apni hi behen ki shaadi tod ne chala? Sharam aa rahi hai tujhe apna Beta kehte hue!"
"Mummy hum yeh sab Sana ki bhalai ke liye hi kar rahe the. Woh khush nahi rahegi Harry ke saath. Trust me!" Said Raj.
"Yeh patti tujhe kisne padhayi hai, acche se jaanti hoon main." Said Parminder Ji looking at Sid who lowered his eyes. "Bachpan se mere ghar ke seeshein, gamle tod ke mann nahi bhara, jo aaj meri Beti ki shaadi tod ne chala aaya. Aur uske liye itni ghatiya planning? Chhii!"
Sid had nothing to say. He was just hearing everything silently.
"Tum dono ko Sana ki khushi ki bohut zyada fikar hai na? Tumhe lagta hai woh Harry ke saath khush nahi rahegi? Toh phir chalo mere saath. Abhi tum dono ki yeh galat fahmi dur karti hoon."
Saying that Parminder took Raj and Sid to the living area. As soon as he went there, his eyes got stuck seeing Sana in a beautiful lehenga. She was looking like a princess.
Sana was busy talking to her female friends and cousins. While talking to them she was smiling and even laughing sometimes.
"Aaj sagai hai iss ladki ki. Aur har ek ladki ke liye yeh din kitna bada hota hai, ek tum ladke nahi samajh sakte. Apni shaadi ko le ke bohut armaan hote hai ek ladki ke dil mein. Par aaj tum dono ki wajah se woh armaan tut ne wale the. Uske chehre pe abhi jo muskan hai, woh tum dono ki wajah se aansuon mein badal ne wale the. Phir jaa ke tum dono ko khushi milti. Kyu?" Said Parminder Ji being emotional.
Realisation hit Sid hard. Sana was really looking happy. After all it was her engagement, a big day for her. How could he even think of spoiling that?
"Lekin Mummy....."
Before Raj could say, Sid kept his hand on his shoulder and said, "Nahi Bhai. Aunty sahi hai. Hum Sana ke saath aisa nahi kar sakte."
He looked at Parminder Ji and said, "Don't worry Aunty. Ab se iss shaadi mein koi problem nahi aayegi. Yeh meri guarantee hai."
Parminder Ji sighed and said to Sid, "Tujhse meri ek hi binti hai. Shaadi hone tak tu meri Sana se dur rehna bas."
Saying that Parminder Ji left from there.
Raj removed Sid's hand from his shoulder and said getting irritated, "Tujhe ho kya gaya yaar? Agar humne yeh shaadi nahi todi toh Sana humse dur chali jayegi."
"Par woh khush toh rahegi?" Said Sid. "Humein iss se zyada aur kya chahiye? Jo hum kar rahe the woh bachpana tha. We were just thinking about ourselves. Agar Sana ki khushi iss hi mein hai then we should let her be happy."
Raj didn't argue anymore and left from there. Sid looked at Sana with teary eyes and smiled sadly. From inside he was feeling empty as he was going to lose his best friend, his crime partner, his family and maybe..... The love of his life.
And that was the moment when he realised that he actually loves her. He loves his Sana. Their bond was more than a friendship bond. He actually feels something for her. Something which was beyond friendship. It was called love.
"I love you!" He whispered.
Sana suddenly felt something. She looked at Sid who was standing at a far distance. He smiled forcefully and indicated that she was looking beautiful. Sana also gave a forceful smile and then took off her eyes. She convinced herself that the words she heard, were her imagination.
Tears rolled down his cheeks. He wished if he realised his feelings earlier. Then it would be their engagement day. But now she had already given that place to someone else. She was going to be someone else's.
Soon Harry also came with his family. The ring ceremony started. Harry and Sana stood in front of each other.
Harry was going to make Sana wear the ring but suddenly stopped and said, "Wait! I have something to say."
Everyone looked at him making confused faces.
"As you all know, London mein aise engagements nahi hote. Shaadi se pehle ladka ladki ko propose karta hai. Humari arranged marriage ho rahi hai so I didn't get a chance. But now I really want to do this....."
Saying that Harry went on his knees and said holding the ring, "Sana, I really like you a lot. Will you marry me?"
Sana looked at Sid for once. Both of their eyes were holding a lot of pain. But suddenly Sana remembered about Deeksha.
She then looked at Harry and forwarded her hand smiling slightly.
Harry also smiled and made Sana wear the ring.
Sid felt shattered. He left from there wiping his tears as it was being difficult for him see them together.
Rita Ji noticed Sid leaving and she also went after him.
Sid reached home and entered his room. There he started breaking everything while remembering about Sana and Harry. His heart was paining badly. Till today he was thinking that he didn't want Sana to get married just because he didn't want to lose his best friend. But today he realised his actual feelings towards her. And this realisation caused him nothing but pain.
Sid was crying sitting on the bed when Rita Ji came and kept her hand on his shoulder. Seeing her, Sid hugged her tightly and broke down completely. Rita Ji rubbed his back while teardrops fell from her eyes as well.
"Maa main bohut pyaar karta hoon uss se. I love her a lot." He said while crying.
"Ssshhh! Shaant ho jaa Beta. Tujhe kuch baata ne ki zaroorat nahi hai. Main sab jaanti hoon." She said while consoling her son.
After sometime Sid kept his head on his mother's lap and soon fell asleep.
Next day, Parminder Ji and Santokh Ji came to give the wedding invitation card. After they left, Sid took the card from Rita Ji and went to his room.
He read the words that was written on the wedding invitation card, "Shehnaaz Weds Harbhajan"
Sid so wanted to tear the card but stopped himself. Instead he kept the card near his pillow so that everytime he looks at the card, it reminds him of the person he lost in his life.
Days passed like this and the day of wedding came near. It was Sana's Haldi ceremony. Sid just stepped out of his house to attend the Haldi ceremony when suddenly Deeksha came and hugged him.
At that very moment, Sana was passing by there with Trisha and her cousins. The girls were coming from parlour. Sana stopped seeing them hugging. She didn't know why but it was still hurting. She controlled her emotions and kept walking.
Deeksha broke the hug and asked, "Kaise ho tum? Kuch dino se naa office aaye na hi mere calls ka reply de rahe the. I was so worried. Kaal office mein Sana aayi thi apne fiance ke saath, wedding invitation card dene. Then I understood everything. Are you alright?"
Sid gave a forceful smile and said, "Yeah I'm fine. It's my best friend's sister's wedding. Isliye thoda busy hoon. That's why I took leave from office."
"Kis se jhut bol rahe ho? Mujhse yaa apne aap se? I know you love her. And you know it too. Then why are you not telling her anything?"
"Kya bolu yaar? Khud itna late realise kiya. Haldi hai aaj uski. Ab bol ke bhi kuch fayda nahi."
"Sidharth it's not too late. She is not married yet. Tum dono ke ek hone ke chances abhi bhi hai. Because she also loves you. I have seen it in her eyes." Said Deeksha.
"Then why is she marrying him?" Asked Sid.
Deeksha started thinking. Suddenly she remembered something and said, "Sidharth ek baat baatao. Uss raat jo misunderstanding hui thi Sana ko, hum dono ko le ke, woh tumne baad mein clear kar diya tha na?"
Sid thought for a while and said, "Nahi woh.... Agle din itna kuch hogaya. Time nahi mila."
"Oh God! You stupid! Tumhe usse baata dena chahiye tha ki uss raat hum dono sirf girlfriend boyfriend ban ne ka natak kar rahe the. Kuch bhi real nahi tha."
Flashback...
It was the night of their office party. Deeksha took Sid to a corner and said, "Sidharth, listen, you have to help me. Iss office mein mera aur koi nahi hai. Sirf tum hi mere help kar sakte ho."
"Deeksha, Relax! I'll definitely help you. Par tum mujhe baatao toh sahi ki exactly kya help chahiye tumhe." Said Sid.
"Please mere boyfriend ban jaao." Said Deeksha making puppy eyes.
"What the f....."
Before he could complete, Deeksha said, "Sirf ek raat ke liye."
Sid made a confused face and said, "Deeksha tumhe paata hai tum kya bol rahi ho?"
"Dekho mujhe galat mat samajhna. Actually mera ek friends circle hai, college time se. Uss mein ek ladka hai jisse main bohut pyaar karti hoon. But he is dating someone else. Mujhe sun ke bohut gussa aaya aur maine sabke saamne bol diya ki main bhi kisi ko date kar rahi hoon. Now all my friends want to meet my that boyfriend jo real life mein exist hi nahi karta."
"So you want me to be your fake boyfriend?" Asked Sid.
"Only for tomorrow night. Kaal meri friend ki birthday party hai. Jis se main pyaar karti hoon uski girlfriend bhi aa rahi hai. Tum aaoge toh at least mujhe left out feel nahi hoga. Aur kya paata woh mujhe tumhare saath dekh kar jealous ho jaaye aur usse yeh realise ho jaaye ki woh mujhse pyaar karta hai."
"What rubbish! Aise tum kisi ko bhi khud se pyaar nahi karwa sakti. If you really love him then let him go. Usse wapas aana hoga toh woh aa jayega."
"I can understand your point but..... Jab insaan pyaar mein hota hai toh yeh saare logics samajh mein nahi aate. Tum please mere saath chalo. Aur toh aur iss se mera jhut bhi pakda nahi jayega."
After Deeksha requested a lot, Sid finally agreed.
"Thik hai main banunga tumhara boyfriend lekin sirf kaal raat ke liye." Said Sid.
"Cool! Main aur mere friends tumhe tumhare ghar se pick up kar lenge. Okay?"
"Okay Baba okay."
"Thank you so much!"
Saying that Deeksha hugged Sid tightly.
Flashback Ends...
"You were right. Love is all about letting go. Maine itna kuch kiya but I failed to get him. It's because he actually loves his girlfriend. So I decided to let him go. Haan thoda dard hua but waqt ke saath saath heal ho jayega. Lekin meri love story ki sad ending hui iska yeh matlab nahi hai ki tumhari love story ki happy ending nahi hogi." Said Deeksha and hold Sid's hand.
"Chalo Sana ko jaa ke sab sach baata te hai."
Saying that Deeksha tried to drag him but he didn't move. Deeksha looked at him being confused.
"No Deeksha. Mujhe abhi usse kuch nahi baata na. She is not marrying Harry because of this misunderstanding. Aur agar aisa hai bhi toh...She has already made up her mind. I don't want to make it more complicated for her." Said Sid.
"But Sidharth, what about you? Tum sach mein uske bina reh paaoge?" Asked Deeksha.
Sid smiled sadly and said, "You said na? Love is all about letting go. So I want to let her go. After all, Harry is a better person than me. He will keep her happy and exactly there my happiness lies."
