Chapter 02

- Mia White -

When I opened my eyes, I found myself in the arms of Ace with my face squished against his chest. Whenever I tried to push him off, or at least have some space between us, he would only hug me tighter. I tried to wake him up, poking his cheeks and even slapping his chest, but to no avail.

"Mia..." he murmured in his sleep, burying his face feeling in my hair.

I smiled, but still kind of annoyed that he was suffocating me. I glared at him for a few moments before giving up. There's no way I'd be able to wake this beast up. The only thing I managed to do was turn around so that my back was facing him.

I heard someone knocking at the door, and wondered who would be up this early besides myself. It couldn't be Jacob, Levi, Sarah or Ben since they're probably savouring the moment of getting the chance to sleep in. When the door opened, I was surprised to see it was Ben. His arms were crossed over his chest as he leaned against the door with a sly smirk on his face.

"Need help getting out of his little cage?" Ben asked even when he knew my answer.

"How are you up so early? And doesn't your head hurt from getting drunk last night?"

"I took some pills once I got out of bed," he shrugged. "Now do you want me to help you or not?"

"Please do."

Ben smiled and walk towards me. He told me that this wasn't the first time he's seen Ace cage me in his arms like this. It was when we all decided to have a sleepover at Ace's house. It was past midnight, everyone was sleeping in the living room with their sleeping bags or whatever they used since we all hung out there for the night.

Ben needed to go to the washroom, but before he went he saw there was something on my face. He was able to see it since Ace left a small light on because I didn't like sleeping in full darkness. Ben was going to whip the thing off my face before Ace suddenly grasped his wrist before he could even touch me.

For me, it was kind of hard to believe. Ben told me it was true, and that it's the fastest way to wake him up, but I wasn't buying it.

"Just watch," Ben said. "I'll just try to poke your forehead."

He slowly went to touch my forehead, and just like Ben said, Ace grabbed his wrist before he could lay a finger on me. Ace's arms slightly tightened around me as he gripped Ben's wrist. Ben frowned and tried to free himself from Ace's grip, but it was no use.

"Told ya it would wake him up. Now let go of me!" He exclaimed.

I heard Ace growl and release his grip on Ben's wrist. Ben looked at his wrist before looking at me with saddened eyes.

"You better punish that monster you call your boyfriend. Look! He hurt me!" He cried, pouting to his bruised wrist.

I chuckled while Ben ran out of the room. Now that Ace was - hopefully - awake, I was able to get out of bed. It turned around to face him to see that all his attention was on me. I smiled and used one of my hands to run my fingers through his hair. He closed his eyes and smiled as I continued. Eventually, I stopped, causing him to frown and open his eyes to lock with mine.

"Come on. Time to wake up," I said, and he finally let me go.

Walking into the bathroom, I looked in the mirror to see my usual messy self when I wake up. I wasn't too embarrassed if Ace saw me like this since I know he won't judge me in a cruel way. Sure, he'll tease me about how weird looking I am in the mornings, but Ace - and especially Ben and Levi - tease me with almost everything I do. I'm used to it by now after all these years.

After I managed to untangle my hair with my hairbrush, I walked to the living room where I saw Ace and Ben sitting in the couch taking while Sarah was sitting on a bar stool in the kitchen drinking a glass of water. I sat down beside her as a tired Jacob came out of his room, followed by Levi.

"What should we do today?" Levi asked, taking a seat beside Ben.

"We should go cliff jumping at Amoudi Bay," Ben suggested.

"Or," Sarah said. "We could hike the Fira Trail."

Ben scoffed. "That's boring."

"Well, no one wants to jump off a cliff," Sarah snapped back.

Ben and Sarah glared at one another, and considering that they were both stubborn, we either come up with a better idea or choose one of theirs.

"Why don't we go to the Red Beach near the village of Akrotiri first? It's one of the most beautiful natural beaches," Jacob suggested. "My parents went there once and said it was pretty cool. We can do something afterwards."

Sarah and Ben stayed silent, but both agreed in the end.

It was still early in the morning, but we all decided it would be best to go soon before the place gets crowded. Besides, it would at least take us more than twenty minutes to get there in a car, so it's better to leave now than later. Once we all packed everything we needed, we left.

When we finally arrived at the Red Beach, we ever so carefully made our way down, passing the large rocks. Sarah loved how beautiful the beach was, but complained about the rocks and the possibility of her falling or stumbling down.

There were multiple people already here, but luckily it wasn't crowded yet. Once passing the rocks, I looked around, and knew that I was going to come back here. The water was clear, and fortunately for me, it wasn't deep until you go further into the ocean.

I was too caught up in looking around that I didn't see a person running toward me until knocking me over.

"Shit!" The person said. "I'm sorry. Fuck, it's all over your shirt."

Looking down at my shirt, I saw that the drink the person had was spilt all over me.

"It's okay," I smiled. "It's my fault for not paying attention."

"No, it's my fault," she said. "I was running without looking forward. My friend was yelling something to me, and right when I turned, I bumped into you."

"Then I guess it's both our fault."

She laughed, extended one of her hands out to me. "The name's Zoey."

"Mia," I replied, shaking her hands.

Zoey had long, black hair and light brown eyes. She had sun-kissed skin and that hourglass body girls today wanted. That wave of insecurity hit me, but I didn't let it bother me that much. I was kind of jealous, however, I pushed that feeling aside.

"Here, let me get you a new shirt," she offered, but I shook my head, saying it was fine. We heard someone yelling and turned around to who I assumed was one of her friends.

"I have to go. See you around!" She said before running off.

I looked around, trying to find my friends before Ace suddenly appears out of nowhere. He asked about my shirt and I simply said that a girl bumped into me. He took my hand and lead me to where everyone else was.

Sarah was eager to go into the water with me, and since I was already wearing my swimsuit, I just stripped my clothes off. I looked at Ace and smiled when I saw his face.

Since we were going to the Red Beach, I thought it would be a good idea to wear the red swimsuit I brought with me from home. However, I also decided to wear it because I knew red was Ace's favourite colour, and I knew he loved it when I wore red.

I could feel Ace's eyes on me as Sarah and I walked to the clear water. Sarah knew exactly what was going on, and couldn't help but laugh at the situation.

We both walked slowly into the water, stopping until it was up to my waist. Jacob and Ben followed after us, splashing water at us which ended up with the four of us fighting each other.

After a while, each of us decided to do a little bit of exploring. Meaning that we go near the rocks. Sarah was afraid that the rocks would fall down on us, but Ben said she'd be fine.

After he scared her.

"Why are we friends with that weirdo?" Sarah asked as Ben climbed up one of the large rocks.

"Because we were the only friends he had after that," I answered, knowing that she knew exactly what I meant.

Sarah sighed. "I guess you're right."

We watched as Ben and Jacob both stood on the large rock they were on before I decided to join them. Sarah told me not to leave her, but I told her that she either comes with me or stays there. After a while, she chose to face her fear and come with me.

It took a while for her to actually do it, but after Ben climbed down to help her, she eventually got up. She was practically clinging to his arm, not wanting to fall down. When I chuckled, she was glaring daggers at me.

I slightly jumped in surprise when someone grabbed my hips from behinds, not once realizing it was Ace, I sighed.

"What's up with you guys and scaring Sarah and I?"

Ace shrugged and leaned down to place a soft kiss on one of my cheeks.

"Do you have something nice to wear tonight?" Ace asked, pulling me closer to him. When I nodded, he smiled and turned me around so I was now facing him. He leaned close to kiss me, but I covered my mouth with my hand before he could do so.

I nodded my head to the side to Ace could see why he couldn't kiss me now. Ben and Jacob had their phones out and filming us. Lucky for them that their phones were waterproof. Sarah winked at me while Levi rolled his eyes at his brother and Jacob's behaviour.

"They want a show? Why don't we give them one?" He smirked, resting his forehead against mine.

I grinned and gave him a quick kiss before stepping out of his arms. "Not today," I chuckled.

As we all stayed on the large rocks and talked about what we should do after, I couldn't help but notice that Zoey - for the majority of the time - was talking to someone beside her as she pointed in my directions. Hopefully, she was pointing at something at something else, and not at me.

I don't want to relive the drama that happened during school.

I can only hope things go well this summer.

I know this chapter isn't the best and is very really boring, but hopefully, you guys liked it. I tried to make it as exciting/interesting as possible.

So, what do you think of Zoey?
