Chapter 9: Chapter 9 Emily and Evan

“Brother Leo, shall we go and sell these sapphire beads?”

Soon, Leo and Julia entered the city as Julia suggested selling the beads.

“Not today. I am tired after travelling to Phirie city. So, I want to take a rest for today.”

Leo shook his head and asked, “Are there any good hotels to stay in this city?”

“Of course, there are; however, they will only make your pockets empty.”

Julia nodded her head and continued, “How about come to….”

“There is an extra room in my house. You can stay there as long as you want without paying me anything.”

Before Julia could finish her words, Ryan, secretly following them, jumped forward and invited Leo to stay in his house.

“No. Brother Leo is my bodyguard. So, he needs to stay in the same house as me to protect me properly.”

Before Leo could say anything, Julia instantly rejected Ryan’s offer with a reason.

“Did you forget our houses are next to each other? It will not be a problem for Brother Leo to come to your rescue in time.”

“Moreover, Sister Amy will be there to protect you.”

How could Ryan let Julia and Leo stay in the same house? So, he retorted back by stating some facts.

“But…”

“He is right. It is not a good idea for us to stay in the same house.”

As Julia was about to say something, Leo stopped her and agreed to stay at Ryan’s house.

“Excellent. Brother Leo…you don’t mind me calling you that, right?”

Hearing Leo’s words, Ryan felt happy and looked at Julia with a victorious smile.-.

Julia didn’t say anything as she remained silent for a moment before saying, “Let’s go then.”

‘Finally, I can see those two little kittens.’

Leo was not tired, and he just wanted to meet his last two siblings.

However, he could not just ask Julia to take him to Emily and Evan as it would make him suspicious.

So, after noticing Ryan following behind them and sensing his feelings for Julia, Leo came up with a plan that would safely let him meet them.

“Let’s go.”

Ryan was happy that Julia didn’t fight with him regarding Leo’s accommodation as he and Leo followed behind Julia.

On the city wall,

“Sir Aiden, that girl is returned safely with that mercenary with a ‘Teleportation’ talent.”

One of the watchers noticed Julia and Leo enter the city together and hurriedly rushed to Aiden, the leader of the watchers, to inform them.

“Which girl?”

Aiden frowned as he asked the watcher which girl he was talking about.

“The girl that young master Zac wanted dead.”

The watcher replied to Aiden without thinking much.

‘Slap’

“Idiot, why are you saying it out loud? Do you want to get beheaded by the Icefeather family or what?”

Aiden slapped the watcher before saying, “Looks like that mercenary went to save her.”

“Go and inform young master Zac about it.”

Aiden thought about it before asking that watcher to inform Zac.

“Yes, Sir Aiden.”

The watcher slowly left his guarding post to inform Zac about Julia’s return.

In Zac’s manor,

As the young master of the Ambermane family, Zac owns a manor of his own. Currently, he is in a happy mood because he finally got rid of Julia.

‘Just because she awakened a Healing type talent makes her qualified to marry me?’

Zac scoffed at Julia as he continued to mock, ‘I only wanted to use you to become closer to the Icefeather family; however, who knows that the Icefather family hates you to the core already?’

Since Julia was not useful for his plan to become closer to the Icefeather family, Zac came up with a plan to kill Julia without using his own hands.

‘Even though Amy Icefeather might sense something was off about Julia’s death, there is no way she will prove it.’

Zac was confident in his plan as he relaxed on his sofa.

“What? She has returned safely?”

However, soon, a watcher came with a piece of information that made his mood turn sour.

‘Yes. The mercenary with the Teleportation talent was with her.’

After being rebuked by Aiden, the watcher was careful as he replied in a low voice.

“Damn it…why does this lowly mercenary bastard save her?”

Zac stomped the floor in anger.

“Wait a second…I think I know how to get rid of her now.”

Suddenly, Zac thought of something and hurriedly rushed to his big brother Zen, leaving behind the watcher who was expecting something from Zac.

‘I thought I could get some credits. What a waste!’

Shaking his head, that watcher quietly left the manor with disappointment.

‘I guess, he must have already received the news.’

Because of his experience, Leo knew precisely how a city like Phirie city works, and he guessed Zac must have already received the information about Julia’s safe return.

‘If my guess is correct, he might try to use Dominic to order me to kill Julia.’

While walking with Julia and Ryan, Leo started calculating Zac’s move and trying to come up with a counterattack.

‘However, it is still not the right time to go against the Ambermane family.’

Leo would not have hesitated much in taking care of the Ambermane family; however, his plans changed because of the ‘God ruins’.

‘Until we enter the ‘God ruins’, it is better to remain low-key.’

For Leo, revenge was necessary; however, recklessly going against a powerful family like the Ambermane family would not help him much.

‘But, that bastard will not let Julia off until then.’

At the same time, Leo knew what exactly Zac wanted the most right now.

“Ryan, how good are the city’s patrol teams?”

Before he could plan further, Leo wanted to know more about Phirie city. So, he asked his brother, who seemed easy to get along with.

“They are good.”

Ryan replied in a single line with a forced smile on his face.

‘He is lying.’

Leo could instantly tell that the patrol teams were not good.

“Good? My foot.”

Before Leo could ask another question, Julia stopped in her tracks and scoffed at Ryan.

“We are…”

“Patrol teams, rescue teams and Beast hunting squads…they are all the same.”

Before Ryan could say anything, Julia interrupted his words and explained to Leo about events from the past.

‘An elite hero was offended by a store owner for not giving a high discount and later, the elite hero killed the store owner in front of a Patrol team.’

‘Rescue team, you must have already seen earlier how good they were at saving me.’

‘As for the beast hunting squads, they are only interested in treasures and finding ‘God ruins’, leaving the mutated beasts and monsters alive.’

Julia was careful in explaining the things done by the three units of the Phirie city because it would land them in trouble if anyone heard her words.

‘What a mess?’

Leo shook his head as he felt pity for the citizens of the Phirie city.

Ryan remained silent as he didn’t know what to say because he was a member of the beast hunting squad and what Julia said was true.

Soon, Julia and Leo started talking about more things regarding the Phirie city as Ryan followed behind them silently.

“Brother Ryan”

“Sister Julia.”

A young man and a young woman called Ryan and Julia from afar with excited looks on their faces as they ran toward them.

“How many times do I have to say that you should not run?”

Julia and Ryan said the same line in unison with worried looks.

“Nothing will happen if we run this much distance.”

Anyone could tell that they were twins as they had similar facial features with a look. The twin replied with a smile on their face while gasping for their breaths.

‘These little kittens have grown already.’

Leo could tell the twins in front of them were none other than his younger siblings, Emily and Evan.

He was so happy to see Julia and his younger siblings in one place as his eyes turned misty.

‘But, why are they out of breath just after running less than a dozen meters?’

At the same time, Leo was worried about them and hurriedly checked the information on them.

‘What?’

However, after checking their information, Leo was shocked and felt anxious.
