My ears were ringing so loudly I was not sure an actual bomb had not exploded in this room. By the looks of every piece of furniture broken, a ceiling shattered in the middle, the blood and a cracked solid steel door lying in half in the middle of the room next to the severed head of Marcus, one definitely had. By the name of my girl, Lux. Mine.
I had not taken my eyes of her since this thing had started tonight and I felt every push of every gun she had gotten against her back or head in my own soul. It must have been the mating bond screaming for all of us because that was enough to turn me into a lethal killing machine. The guards knew. They would not have put us in those restraining cuffs with two rifles against our heads if they didnât know about the mating bond.
I had trouble rising from my knees, they were literally shaking. Lux had just⦠I have no clue what that was she had just done, but she probably saved our lives. I was upright, walking like an old man towards the motionless body of my love lying on the bloody floor. Her head on my brotherâs knees. Jax and Sebastian checking her frame for injuries, but she was out. From what I could gather she had a magical explosion of some sort, which I could not yet figure out how that had been possible.
âIs she okay?â I rasped. Oak didnât even glance up, he was checking her neck for injuries. âSheâs breathing.â He was stoically calm. If you knew my twin, you knew that meant he was in full-on mental breakdown mode when the guy shut down and the robot came out to play.
From behind me I heard commotion. Some Scorpioâs were huddled over their fallen brotherâs head, Dosch was tenderly carrying the head over to a duffle bag. The hurt on his face clearly visible. It felt private so I glanced to the other side again. The Libraâs and Andrew were guarding Vincent as if the threat had not yet passed. Andrew was laying out a floorplan and was still figuring out how the entire attack had literally came to pass. He was glancing over to Luxâs body every other second though. As was Dosch. Both of them not sure she was okay and I wasnât either.
âShe needs to go to the hospital, mate.â Sebastian sighed. His head had also gotten a serious hit when he had flown against the brick wall. He was still bleeding and as white as a sheet. âI think the two of you need to get checked out.â Jax stated what I was thinking. Sebastian slowly reached for his head as if it was the first time he had noticed his injuries.
âI called the Scorpioâs private hospital.â Dosch was suddenly beside me. His all black Armani suit had various cuts and holes in them and you could even see the red blood pooling behind the wounds but he wasnât feeling any of it. Also still staring at her body in Oakâs arms. He was not even trying to get her away from the big guy, clearly seeing that Oakâs ice cold front he was putting up was actually acute and utter terror.
Doschâs hands were red from handling Marcusâs head. I glanced at them. âSorry bro.â
He nodded in silent thanks.
âThe Razz Moros have also been notified. That means we have about three minutes to clear out before they start asking questions.â Andrewâs deep voice approached our group, he was in business mode. Vincent on his heels, following his former bodyguard like a lost puppy. That also meant Sgt. Marc Welkin, Kaiâs father, would be approaching soon and he was still out for our blood. In normal circumstances he was a complete psychopath and I would know, having been in his team for about two years before I quit that nutjob. We need to move. Now.
Oak and the others were already on the go, Oak cradling Luxâs still motionless body tenderly in his big arms. Dosch and Vincent had arranged for a few helicopters to pick us up. I saw my brother get in the first black helicopter, with Lux in his arms, accompanied by Dosch and Mourad. I took the second one, with Sebastian, a Scorpio with a red buzzcut and Jax. Vincent, Andrew and two other Libra guards took the last one. The other bodyguards were still clearing up the scene as best as they could for us.
