I woke up to a whole lot of male murmurs and slight raised voices. Someone was arguing. I opened my eyes and almost laughed at the scene in front of me. All of my mates, literally all six of them, were seated around my bed. Andrew and Dosch arguing, no surprise there. As were Ash and Oak for some reason. Sebastian was out of his gown and dressed in a Rivellin jogging set. He was closest to me and was holding my hand. At the other side sat Jax. Flanked by Ash and then Oak. Andrew was sitting next to Sebastian and Dosch was in the middle of the room at my feet.
âWhatâs going on?â I croaked and every voice in the room immediately stopped speaking. It was dead silent before everyone spoke at once. I heard my name, I heard questions about how I was doing. I sighed deeply. âGuys!â
They all went silent again.
I tried to sit up but the room spun and a sharp pain went through my head. So I had to fall down again. âCan someone please tell me what happened now?â I asked, a little pissed off. Voice ruff.
Again everyone exchanged glances, making me even more grumpy than I already was.
It was Dosch who spoke first. âWe were ambushed at the meeting.â Apparently all of them knew about the fact I had no more memory.
âBy whom?â
âWe donât know yet.â Oak said.
âWhy are me and Sebastian the only ones hurt?â because the others looked fine.
âBecause I was the only one who fought for you.â Sebastian said with a sly smile and Jax threw a pillow at this head. âYeah, with a wall.â Ash grunted. âDonât believe him for a second.â
âI donât remember a fucking thing so I donât even know what to believe!â I replied. I was angry now. âSomebody just talk.â I snapped.
âRelax, Carina.â Dosch said. âDonât get your panties in a twist.â By the heated look he was giving me he was sure as hell hoping to get my panties in a twist alright. He grabbed my foot and tenderly rubbed it.
Andrew continued. âThey ambushed all of us, some unknown militia. They tied us up and tried to execute us and kidnap you.â
âExecute you?â I gasped loudly, which made me break out in a coughing fit. âW-why?â
Oak responded. âNothing is clear. But youâ¦-â he glanced at Andrew for a second which was strange. âYou saved us.â
âHow many were there? How did I possibly save all of you.â I was looking at the best fighters of the nation and the strongest guys ever. How the fuck did I save them?
The quiet that followed told me something was not right.
âWhat is it? How did I save you?â my voice dropping. Dread building up in my gut.
âSomehowâ¦â Ash said. âYou used some magical force.â
âWe think you harnessed the mating bond somehow. Even though it isnât set yet.â Oak added.
âIs that even a thing?â
âWeâve been researching for the last few days. There have been some instances where the Tika could harness some powers before the claiming.â Oak continued.
âBut?â
âBut-â Andrew scraped his throat. âThey were all part fae.â
