The castle was as eccentric as I remembered it. Sebastian has taken all seven of us to his family estate to get away from the hecticness of the current state of affairs. Somebody was killing off the council, killing their family members and I, especially, was not safe.
Whoever had attacked us in Dornatill all those weeks ago was still out there and something told me it was all connected to the deaths of Sebastianâs parents and now also all of the Briareveâs fathers.
The mood was intense, everyone in a state of shock and mourning. We had obtained the fae glass but we still needed to reach Faerie before Vincent did. As far as we knew he had no way to get in yet, without me anyway. So I was still valuable to him. That bought us some much-needed time.
Dean had arrived suddenly around midnight, in the pouring rain.
âWhat is going on Sellasun?â Sebastian was not happy with Dean in his house. The two of them hated each other.
He just strutted in, snow white buzz cut gleaming from the rain, all black training gear on. âThere is something you need to know.â He pulled out a gun from behind his coat but Andrew and Dosch were on him quicker. Andrew held him in a headlock and Dosch put a gun to his head.
âBack the fuck down!â Ash growled from behind them and grabbed Doschâs gun. âDeanâs family.â But he still gave his best friend a weird look. âWhatâs with the gun, dude?â
Dean gave it to him and pulled out another one and gave it to Andrew. âHow many guns do you have lying around in this castle?â

Apparently, a warrant was out for my arrest and the Razz Moros under the supervision of Marc Welkin, were on their way to arrest me. My mates were all losing it. They were already putting me in Oakâs arms, to let him take me out back.
âJust wait!â I yelled. âItâs a full moon tonight right?â I asked. My gears spinning in full-on panic mode. Everyone at once knew what I was getting at. With Andrew free of his bond, having survived The Culling, it could be the perfect time to finally do it. The Claiming.
They all were hesitant because they didnât want me to get hurt in the process. Having seen what happened in Dornatill was enough to make them all decide they would never risk it.
âWe need to do this!â I yelled. âThey are not taking me to jail and you know it.â It would be an execution. I was not making it five minutes in their custody and we all knew it.
Dosch glanced at Andrew and they both nodded. âAgreed.â Andrew stepped forward and addressed the others. âRight now itâs choosing between her life being ended by the Razz Moros-â
âOr by the mating bond snapping in place?â yelled Ash.
â-orâ¦â he gave Ash a stern look. âTaking a chance and for all we know the culling is exactly what she needs.â
âWe are not risking her life and she is not being taken by Welkin. Over my dead body.â Ash crossed his arms, breathing out heavily through his nose. We would never sway him. It was hopeless.
âLittle bird, what do you want?â Sebastian sighed and went through his long hair with a casual swipe as if he was dead tired and about to drop down sleeping. The grief had done a number on him.
I swallowed. âI just know that⦠when I step into their custody it will be my last step. And no one, not one of you, would be able to get me out of Rockmavall Prison.â I would not make it there, but if I did, I wonât be able to get out.
âI will fucking break down every stone of those walls to get you out.â Added Ash. Not helping at all.
âSheâs right.â Sebastian added, interrupting his rant. âIâm signing up for whatever power Iâm getting. Itâs the only way to keep her safe. Letâs not forget you will all be getting your powers too. Marc Welkin wonât stand a chance.â Revenge burning behind his eyes for his fathers. For everything that man has done to us.
I had three on my side already.
Two to go.
Jax was awfully quiet.
âJax?â Andrew asked. My former best friend walked forward and reached for my shoulders.
âI agree to this Lux, but please donât die on me freckles.â
Ash grunted even harder at that. The Briareve twins were the last two to vote.
âOak?â Andrew asked the more stoic one of the two.
Ash gave him a dark look. A please donât do it look. If Oak agreed, Ash would be the last one not in alignment.
Oak sighed. âWe are not doing this tonight. Whatever it is that Marcus Welkin is bringing to our front door. We can handle it.â
