As soon as the call went through, the other party hung
1.
Then a message arrived. âDonât call. My child has just fallen asleep.â
Keira was perplexed.
A child?
She was a bit confused.
She had thought the person setting her up must be someone with dark and calculating thoughts, definitely harboring some scheme, but now a child suddenly popped up?
And in her mind, an image of a flustered woman appearedâ¦
She replied to the message. âWho are you?â
The response came quickly. âKeira, Iâm only looking out for your best interest. Listen to me, donât youever get a divorce! Only Lewis can protect you!â
Keira frowned.
<
Protection?
She had been in Oceanion for many years, indeed bullied badly by Poppy Hill, but it wasnât to theextent that she needed protection, right?
She replied to the message. âI donât need anyoneâs
protection.â
The other party replied again. âNo, you do. You just donât know it yet. Keira, I wonât hurt you. You haveto believe me! I only have good intentions for you!â
intentionsâ¦
Keira thought carefully. The matter of marrying Lewis had been approved by old Mrs. Horton, so itdidnât bring her any losses.
On the contrary, for any normal person, marrying someone like Lewis of the top family would indeed astroke of incredible luck.
She wrote, âTell me who you are.â
The person replied, âI canât tell you.â
Keira started to press for answers. âThen tell me, how do you know that Iâm actually Mrs. Olsenâsdaughter? If vou knew why didnât you tell me earlier?â
-
This person photoshopped a picture a few years back, informed old Mrs. Horton that Mrs. Olsen washer
mother, and made old Mrs. Horton remember these
words.
But how could she know something even Keira herself
wasnât sure about?
The person wrote, âThe later you know, the better for you.â
Keira was confused.
She felt incredibly perplexed.
She sent a direct reply to the message. âIf you canât give me a reasonable explanation, Iâll get a divorce
tomorrow.â
The person wrote, âWhat do I need to do for you t
believe me?â
Keira was perplexed. Why did it seem as though the one who conspired to marry her off to Lewiswithout her permission was so innocent and weak?!
She felt like she was the bad guy!
Keira continued to message the person. âHow did you
help me get the marriage certificate back then?â
L
On the day when the marriage certificate was issued, she herself was in the lab, so she couldnâtpossibly have been there to get the certificate, and afterward, she had said so to old Mrs. Hortonâ¦
The person who registered the marriage was definitely not her!
But there was a photoâ¦
Makeup technology being so advanced nowadays, so could there be an imposter?
Keira was a bit confused at the moment.
The other party sent her another message. âThis, I canât explain clearly in a text message. But Iâmbegging you, you have to believe me. I wonât hurt you!â
Again, that eerie feeling.
The other party used âIâm begging youâ and was clea in a state of desperation.
Keira seized the opportunity to pressure the person. âI forgot to bring my marriage certificate today, buttomorrow I have arranged to get a divorce with Lewis at the courthouse.â
The other party wrote. âWhy canât you just believe me?
Someone like me simply canât harm anyone⦠Keira, please donât get a divorce. Donât do it!â
Keira stared at her phone. âIf you donât explain yourself, I wonât believe you!
The other party didnât reply promptly this time and seemed to be pondering over something. After a fullfive minutes, they seemed to finally make up their mind. âIâll come to see you tomorrow morning. Whenyou see me, youâll know whatâs going on!â
Keira frowned.
Tomorrow morningâ¦
This person knew she was in a hurry, but they wouldnât come over immediately. Instead, they had towait until the next morning. Did it mean they werenât in
Oceanion?
Keira pondered for a moment and then replied, âWha time? I have plans at noon.â
She also had a farewell arranged for the handsome
uncle!
The other party replied immediately, âI should arrive by eleven, and Iâll contact you then. Donât gothrough
with the divorce in the morning no matter what! You must wait for me!â
Keira replied, âOkay.â
After putting down her phone, she couldnât sleep.
Standing on the balcony and gazing into the distance, she felt as though something was drawingnearer and nearer to her⦠Perhaps tomorrow sheâd understand the real reason behind the marriage, but what could
the secret be?
As she mused, a noise came from behind her.
Turning around, she saw her mother get up from the bed, take a shawl, and walk over to her, draping itover
her shoulders.
A warm sensation enveloped her, also warming her
heart a little.
Keiraâs expression softened. âMom, why havenât you gone to sleep?â
âPerhaps itâs the excitement of sharing a bed with my daughter for the first time,â Mrs. Olsen looked ather. âKeira, do you really have the heart to go through with
the divorce?â
Keira fell silent for a moment. âI donât.â
Mrs. Olsen seemed not to have expected such a firm answer and suddenly stepped forward, wrappingher arms around Keira, and resting her head on her
shoulder.
Her hand gently patted Keiraâs back as she spoke softly. âKeira, love is sweet but also bitter. If you wantto cry, go ahead. I wonât laugh at you.â
Hearing this, Keiraâs nose tingled.
The repressed emotions in her heart seemed uncontrollable, overflowing from her chest.
She hesitated slightly, wanting to say something, but the moment she began to speak, anuncontrollable sob escaped her.
Immediately after, large tears began to roll down.
She didnât know what had overcome her.
Perhaps it was for her love that had ended without a
solution.
Or maybe for the injustices sheâd endured over the last
twenty-two yearsâ¦
Unseen by her, a black Bentley was parked outside the
yard on the street.
Lewis sat in the backseat quietly.
The driver didnât dare to breathe too loudly.
Today, Mr. Hortonâs mood was all wrong; after going to the office, he finished all the work he needed todo for
the week.
He didnât return home in the afternoon to deal with
international affairs but stayed at the Horton Group.
After work, he didnât go home but came here instead.
Yet he remained silent, staring at the Olsen residenceâ¦
Just when the driver felt he was going to go insane,
Lewis suddenly said, âLetâs go home.â
The driver sighed with relief
He started the car, and on the way back to Hortonâs, he stole glances at Lewis through the rearviewmirror, seeing his boss with closed eyes.
For some reason, his usually authoritative boss. seemed⦠pitiable.

The car soon arrived at the Horton residence.
After getting out of the car, Lewis walked toward Old Mrs. Hortonâs yard without saying a word.
As he approached, he saw the driver from Hortonâs old house squatting by the gate, looking utterlybored.
But upon seeing Lewis, he immediately sprang up. âMr. Horton, youâre finally back! Thereâs a parcel foryou; it was sent to the old house!â
