The words stunned Christina and Victoria.
Both turned in unison to look at Lewis.
Yet, despite being stared at and pointed out like this, the college student remained calm and collected. He sat there with his eyes fixed straight on the tea in front of him, without sparing them a glance.
Christinaâs eyes lit up as she couldnât help but turn to Victoria, âVictoria, although heâs just a commonguy, heâs quite good-looking. If Lewis looks anything like him, then he must be decent in both characterand appearance! Youâve really gotten lucky this time!â
Victoria also showed a look of satisfaction.
Just then, someone retched in the distance.
The two turned their heads only to see Maryâs complexion suddenly change. She covered her chestand retched before rushing toward the restroom.
The two of them pursed their lips in distaste and, turning back, found that Ellis had disappeared.
Mary suddenly felt unwell, and her early pregnancy symptoms caught Keira and Mary off guard.
Up until just now, Mary hadnât felt anything at all.
It wasnât until the waiter brought a plate of pan-fried fish that the strong seafood smell hit her, makingher unable to hold back any longer.
Keira held Maryâs arm and hurried into the restroom
beside them.
Mary, facing the sink, retched for a while before pushing Keira away. âKeera, Iâm fine. You go out first.Iâll stay here for a bit.â
Keira thought about it and decided not to insist.
After all, Lewis was still sitting outside, and the visi today included the Davis familyâ¦
Just now, the Davis family head, Ken, glanced at Lewi and seemed to have taken a few steps towardhim. Sh couldnât help but grow more anxious, so she nodded, âCall me if you need anything.â
Keira exited the restroom and looked again toward Lewis. Sure enough, she saw Ken standing in frontof
him.
Keira tightened her jaw and quickened her steps, just in time to hear Ken speaking, âWhatâs yourname? Have we met before? Why do you look so familiar?â
Lewis, who had always resented the Davis family, didnât really respond to him but shifted his gazeaway.
The young man beside Ken was his son Chad, who immediately frowned and scolded, âHey, do youknow who my father is? My father is speaking to you. Why are you ignoring him? Donât you know anymanners?â
Lewis stood up abruptly.
As he did so, his presence somehow grew, making Chad take a step back.
Then, Lewis looked straight at Ken.
Ken also frowned.
He could sense the hostility emanating from the man in front of him but couldnât understand why, so hecontinued to probe with a smile. âYoung man, whatâs the matter? Do we know each other?â
âNo, we donât.â
Lewis looked at his uncle and turned to leave.

Seeing this, Chadâs frown deepened, âIf you donât
know, you donât know. Whatâs with that attitude? Hey, didnât your mother teach you how to speak toyour elders? How can you be so rude!â
At these words, Lewis halted abruptly, and his piercing gaze, filled with killing intent, shot straight atChad.
Keira, hearing this, felt like she was about to explode with anger!
How could this man be so annoying?!
She blurted out, âShut up!â
Abandoning her image of being a pushover, Keira quickly got in front of Lewis, her stance protectivelike a mother hen ready for battle.novelbin
Her eyes focused on Chad. âWith that foul mouth, perhaps you should rinse it out before you speak andsave everyone from the stench!â
Chad instinctively covered his mouth, then realizing he was being insulted, his rage flared, and heblurted out, âYouâ¦â
âYou what? Didnât your mother teach you not to involve elders when you speak?â
C
Keira, her demeanor fierce, stepped forward and
swatted away his pointing finger. âBefore you criticize others, you should take a good look at yourselffirst!â
Chad was speechless.
Ken was also bewildered, looking at Keira with some confusion. âMiss South, it was just a few harshwords. Chad, arenât you going to apologize to this gentleman right now?â
Ken wasnât frightened by Keira; after all, the
collaboration was just a project worth a few hundred million. He didnât need to bow down to a youngwoman over this bit of money.
He just felt that as an elder, he didnât need to bothe
with them.
Chad snorted and then turned to look at Lewis. âFine take back what I just said. Iâve offended yourmom, an I apologize to her.â
Did he just bring up Lewisâs mother again?
Keira felt the anger in her chest flare up once more. She rolled up her sleeves and was ready to teachChad a lesson, only to be held back by Lewis.
â¬
Lewis looked down with subdued eyes and said indifferently, âThereâs no need to apologize, after allâ¦â
A glint of ice flashed through his eyes. âI donât have a
mother.â
Chad was startled by Keiraâs aggressive demeanor, but after hearing Lewisâs words, he realized hisearlier
remark had hit a sore spot.
Embarrassed, he scratched his head. âHas your mom passed away? Sorry, I really didnât know aboutthatâ¦â
Lewis didnât offer any explanation for the
misunderstanding but instead, took hold of Keiraâs hand and walked away.
Even after they had left, Kenâs gaze lingered on the
Chad then said, âReally, I spoke without knowing the situation. Dad, look at this Keera. Isnât she said toha a weak character? Where is there any sign of
weakness? Sheâs fierce as death! With her
temperament, could she really be so bullied by her ex-husband that she couldnât raise her head? Just
rumorsâ¦â
Yet Ken furrowed his brows. âWhy do I feel like Iâve
coon him hafara2â³
âWhat?â Chad did not hear clearly.
âNever mind.â Ken gave his son a disapproving glance. âMind your tongue in the future.â
Ken didnât say anything else after that.
Even though they had walked some distance, Keira was still fuming, her cheeks puffed up like ablowfishâs.
She muttered angrily, âThe Davis family is so annoying. If they canât speak decently, whatâs the use ofhaving a mouth? Gosh, I should think of something else to insult
them.â
After finishing her rant, she looked at Lewis and suddenly smiled. âI remember youâre pretty good atcursing. Could you do it for me?â
Lewis was perplexed.
Help her curse others on her behalf?
This womanâs thought process was indeed unique.
However⦠he was rather good at cursingâ¦
This reminded him suddenly of when they had just met, and Keira had posted on social media, wherehe had joined in cursing in the comments under her post

Those moments were as clear as if they had happened
just yesterdayâ¦
Seeing that his expression was lost in thought, Keira sighed in relief. She had successfully distractedhim.
Then she glanced toward the restroom.
She wondered how Mary was doing now.
At this very moment, Mary was doubled over, vomiting violently.
Everything in her stomach had been thrown up, and now she was even retching up bile, feeling terribly
uncomfortable.
How could pregnancy be so painful?
She felt as though she had no strength left in her b Her eyes and nose were reddened from the strain,
her forehead was even beaded with cold sweat.
At last feeling a bit better, she supported herself on the sink, her hand instinctively reaching for thetissue box to pull out a tissue and wipe her mouth.
After fumbling for quite a while, unable to find a tissu a hand suddenly passed her the tissue box.

Hastily, Mary wiped her mouth, then turned her head to say, âThankâ¦â
But the word of thanks got stuck in her throat because the person standing in front of her was Ellis.
