Austin asked anxiously, âWhat is it?â a
Lady Gill frowned, and after a long pause, she finally said, âBefore we got here, many people musthave left the hospital. Did she leave already?â
Austin immediately said, âThereâs surveillance at the entrance. Weâll have someone check the footagefrom that time!â
Lady Gill laughed bitterly, âThis hospital department has several entrances and exits. Searching willprobably take time.â
Austin became anxious, âBut we still have to check!â
Lady Gill looked at him. âOf course, we will check!
What are you so anxious about?â
Austin then lowered his head. âBecause we finally got news about my little sister.â
Lady Gill didnât know why, but she suddenly thought of Keira and that girl named Naraâ¦
She suddenly frowned, feeling confident that Nara wasnât her daughter, but still, she reminded Austin.
Onovelbin
âDonât bully girls like the one we just saw ever again! Understand?â
Austin pouted. âI have never bullied her, okay? Whatâs the point of bullying girls who come from nothingand have no power to fight back? I only did that because she caused Jacksonâs injuryâ¦
â¦
The hospital was a mess, as they nearly turned the inpatient department upside down during theirsearch. Keira and Lewis drove back to the South residence.
âHaving caused such a scene with the Gill family, how can we still cooperate with them?â
Keira was a bit worried. âIf the cooperation doesnât succeed, I wonât be able to complete the task theSouth family gave me, and then I canât save my momâ¦â
Lewisâs eyes darkened. âIâll think of a way.â
If it came down to it, he would resort to special
measures!
He would acquire the Gill family and then cooperate with Keira.
O
Keira glanced at him sidelong. âSince the Horton family moved to Clance, you havenât been home yet, have you? Should you visit them sometime, lest the second branch take over Horton Group?â
Lewisâs gaze dropped, and a chill flashed through h eyes. âIf they want it, let them have it. Weâll see ifthe have the ability to keep it! Do they think I want to take over the Horton Group if it wasnât forGrandma?â
The little Horton Group was not what he wanted at all.
Keira paused slightly upon hearing this. âWhat did you say?â
A flicker passed through Lewisâs eyes. âNothing.â
Keira was about to press further when she saw a familiar car stop in front of her house.
Keira raised her eyebrows, opened the door, and got out; sure enough, in the courtyard, she saw Ellis.
The sky had already darkened.
Ellis wore a black suit, standing quietly as if blending into the darkness; if one didnât look carefully, hewas barely noticeable.
It seemed he heard footsteps because he slowly

turned his head. Upon seeing Keira, his eyes turned
indifferent once again as he continued to look toward
the entrance.
He lit a cigarette and looked up at a certain windo the second floor.
That was Maryâs room.
Keira couldnât help but say, âEllis, go back. Mary wonât see you.â
âI know.â
Ellis said indifferently, âI just want to be here with her.â
Keira didnât know what to say.
She walked up to Ellis, looked at him earnestly, and said, âEllis, have you ever heard a saying?â
âWhat?â
âBelated affection is worthless.â
â¦
Ellis froze and stiffened.
Then, he cast his eyes down and said no more.
After Keira finished her mocking, she went straight

into the house.
If it hadnât been for her and Lewisâs timely discovery of Ellisâs actions, Maryâs child would have beengone by
now!
He attempted to murder the baby; there was nothing to argue about.
Mary would never forgive him.
After Keira entered the living room, Lewis followed
her, pausing briefly as he passed by Ellis.
Then he cleared his throat. âI warned you before. I told you the child was yours.
Ellis gave a bitter smile, offering no further explanation.
Lewis entered the living room just in time to see Keira fuming as she sat at the dining table.
He washed his hands and walked over to sit beside her.
After picking up a piece of spare rib for Keira, he said thoughtfully, âActually, Ellis did three testsâ¦â
Keira paused, then looked at him with sharp eyes. âSo
O
what?â
Lewis coughed, and the idea of speaking on Ellisâs behalf evaporated upon meeting her gaze.
It is better to let sleeping dogs lie than create a rift between Keira and himself because of Ellisâs affairs.
So, he quickly changed the subject. âAll three tests pointed to azoospermia, which suggests a problem.Do you think it could be related to the South family?â
His words made Keira slightly startled. âWhy would you say that?â
Seeing she no longer pursued his previous remarks, Lewis coughed again. âBecause the first task theSouth- family wanted you to do to cooperate with the five major families was to have Ellis marry Mary.Ellis has remained unmarried all these years because of the azoospermia. Itâs as if they were, increasing the difficulty of your task?â
Keira was perplexed.
She stroked her chin, suddenly finding the idea entirely plausible!
Lewis quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

O
But just as he relaxed, he heard Keira ask sardonically, âSo what youâre saying is, Ellis did what he didbecause
of his condition? Then do you think Mary should forgive him?â
Lewis was dumbfounded.
How did the topic circle back again?
He coughed.
Then he immediately shook his head. âOf course, she canât forgive him yet! Even if Ellis was deceived,he should have trusted Mary. If it were you, I would have trusted you without hesitation.â 2
He showed his stance and picked a side, and now everything should be fine, right?
When Lewis thought of this, he heard Keira say, âWhat
do you mean she canât forgive him yet?â
Lewis was speechless.
While the two were talking, Mary had already come downstairs.
Keira abruptly ended the topic, effectively saving Lewisâs life.
O
Mary sat at the dining table, eating her meal absentmindedly.
Her gaze kept falling on the front gate.
She knew Ellis was outside.
But she still quickly withdrew her gaze and contin her meal.
Keira curled her lips. âMary, ignore him. He has done something wrong, and he must pay the price! Ifhe stands outside and refuses to leave, it would be best if a bolt of lightning struck him dead!â
Immediately after that, a streak of lightning flashedâ¦
Keira was dumbfounded.
Almost subconsciously, she looked outside,
half-expecting her words to come true, only to see Ellis unharmed. It was just her wishful thinking.
But soon, the downpour began.
In seconds, Ellis was drenched, looking like a drowned
