AURORA
âEvander?â I called out in shock, my voice tinged with confusion. âWhat do you mean youâve come to finish what you started? I thought we came here for peace!â
I hated all this commotion. Piper turned to Dane and me, her eyes blazing with anger. âWhy did you bring him here?â
âCalm down, Piper,â Dane said gently, stepping forward to place a steady hand on her shoulder. She tried to shrug him off, but Dane held firm, guiding her back into her chair.
I crossed my arms and turned to Evander, raising an eyebrow. âErmâerm,â I cleared my throat, prompting him.
Evander nodded and took a tentative step closer to Piper. Her glare intensified, freezing him in place.
âI know you hate me right now,â he began, his voice heavy with remorse. âBut Iâm asking you to hear me out. Please.â
Piper looked away, her gaze softening as it landed on Warrick lying on the bed. She bit her bottom lip, clearly struggling to hold back her tears.
âYouâve hurt me, Evander,â she said quietly. âMy heart aches because of you.â
Evander froze, the pain in her words cutting deep. He glanced
at me, his eyes filled with regret and sorrow. Piperâs words were like thorns in his throat, but she was speaking her truth. Her pain mirrored his own.
âI never meant to hurt you,â Evander said, his voice cracking. âIâm sorry.â
Piper didnât respond. Instead, she walked over to Warrick and sat beside him on the bed. She leaned down, kissing his cheek tenderly as her hand caressed his bruised face.
âSee what you did to the love of my life,â she said softly, her voice trembling. âLook at how hurt he is.â
Warrick blinked up at her, his expression a mix of confusion and disbelief. âPiper⦠you?â
She nodded, her eyes filled with unshed tears. âI admit it⦠Iâve been stubborn. I ignored my feelings because of my pride, but not anymore.â She cupped Warrickâs face in her hands, pressing her forehead against his. âYouâre mine. Okay?â
Warrick nodded quickly, his voice barely above a whisper. âAlways and forever.â
A smile tugged at my lips as I watched their reunion. It was heartwarming to see them finally acknowledge their feelings. But then I heard a deep sigh beside me, and I turned to see Evander.
His head was bowed, his hands buried in his pockets, and his lips pressed into a thin line. He looked utterly defeated. Stepping closer, I leaned in and whispered, âAre you okay?â
âIâm fine,â he muttered, but his clenched jaw said otherwise.
âMaybe you should step outside for a bit,â I suggested gently. âIf itâs too hard to watch this-â
âIâm fine,â he interrupted, his tone sharp. Then, out of nowhere, he groaned, âFuck.â
I followed his gaze and saw Piper kissing Warrick softly on the lips.
âYouâre fine, huh?â I said with a sigh, shaking my head.
Evander ignored me and stepped forward toward the couple. âPiper?â he called, his voice steady but strained.
Piper pulled away from Warrick and turned to face him, her eyes narrowing. âWhat?â she snapped, her tone sharp as a blade.
âI deserve whatever you think of me,â Evander said earnestly. âBut have you forgiven me?â
Piper crossed her arms and tilted her head, her gaze burning into him. âNot until you apologize to Warrick and he forgives you,â she said firmly.
Evander paused, their eyes locked in a silent battle. Finally, he sighed and nodded. âFine.â
okay. Iâm kidding! I just want you both to forgive me. I never shouldâve tried to come between you two.â
Piper and Warrick exchanged a glance. When Warrick nodded, Piper smiled and turned back to Evander. âWe forgive you,â she said softly.
Evanderâs face lit up as he stepped forward to hug Piper but paused at the last second. Instead, he turned to Warrick and wrapped him in a tight hug.
âAhh!â Warrick groaned in pain, and Evander quickly released him. âSorry, sorry!â Evander said, stepping back sheepishly.
He returned to my side, grinning. âI got her forgiveness,â he said proudly.
I smiled and nodded. âYou did well.â
I walked over to Warrick, gently brushing his arm. âHow are you feeling now?â
âIâm better,â he said with a faint smile. âBut Iâm hungry.â
âOh,â I said, glancing around. âIâll ask someone to bring food for both of you on my way out.â
I turned to Dane. âI need to head back to the office. Thereâs a
mountain of work waiting for me.â
Dane nodded, and I said my goodbyes to the others before leaving the room.
As I exited the building, I saw Miles pacing nervously. He spotted me and quickly looked around, as if checking to see if anyone was watching.
I stopped in front of him, raising an eyebrow. âIs there something you want to say?â
âYes, Luna,â Miles said hesitantly, his voice low. âBut I donât
want the Alpha or the others to know. Itâs about the picture of Warrick and Alina⦠the kissing scandal.â
