First thing, I will cook rice and use clay pots to cook it. After that, I peel the skins of potatoes and carrots. I cut both of the vegetables in large dice and put them in a bowl. After prepared the vegetables, I continued with the preparations of curry roux. For our first dish ever, I will prepare curry chicken rice. The name is so attempting. I can't for it to be done.
I assorted the spices that I will use in the making of the roux. Our main chef is quite startled as I using spice for the dish
"Are you gonna use spices, Miss Maria? I never heard a dish that can use spices, you know?"
"Yes, Peter I will be using the spices as it give flavours in the dish. Just wait for it."
First, heat the pot. After that, enter the garam masala, cayenne pepper and other spices. Stir it for a bit and then pour some corn flour that was mixed with water to thicken the roux. Then, wait till the roux is boiled and you have done.
After the roux was done, pour a lot of water. Put the potatoes and carrots in to it as both takes a lot time to soften. After a while, put the chicken that have been cut into smaller pieces into the pots. Wait till the chicken, potatoes and carrot to be cooked and done.
I checked the rice and it also have cooked. I take a plate and put a several scope of rice at the plate. Then I poured the curry next to the rice and done. I showed to my mom what dish I prepared at kitchen and not only mom, Alisha, Oliver, Peter and few of them are quite shocked with what I prepared.
"Young miss, isn't that rice? That's rice, right?" Ask Peter
"I also think that is rice. Are you sure you want to eat that young miss?" Ask Oliver too.
"Maria, mom thinks that you should throw out the rice apart from the dish you have made. Alisha, didn't you tell her that rice is for animal's feeding?"
"About that madam, the seller has told young miss before she buys it and I thought that she will not buy the rice. But to my opposite, she insisted to buy a large proportion of it."
"What? Maria, you buy a lot of it?"
"Yes, I buy a lot and don't you worry. I will not be dead even I eat this kind of things." I am surprised that they were questioning my appetite but
"Just for future references, I will eat more of this in future. I mean, I will eat this every day." They looked horrified but I am really sorry about this. Rice is my life and I stand foe four year not eating of it. Now that I found it, I will and am eating this for the rest of my life.
After finish arguing about the rice matter, I show then curry chicken dish. It looks so attempting that I eat a mouthful of it. The flavours, the taste... finally the same as the dish from my old world. I want to savour each of this moments. When I look at them, I saw the drool from their mouth.
"Do you want to try the dish," they nodded and I put the dish into several plates. I said to mom to try it with bread. They also follow my advice and eat the curry with breads.
I think curry is a dish they never heard and try so their first impression is satisfying for me. They look so happy and praise me as the curry dish is so good and delicious.
"I never taste anything like this"
"It is so good, young miss." Oliver praise me and it make me so happy.
"Oh dear, I don't think you can cook but this dish is out of the world. It is so delicious. Where do you have the idea to cook these specific dish using spices."
After mom ask that, all of them look at me with this curious expression about the unknown recipe
Oh, I don't think mom will ask that deep about the curry. Oh god, how will I explain to them?
"I had a dream about the dish. May be I am so hungry that night that I dream about curry."
"Wow, that's amazing. To thinks that someone can dream about food." Peter, you don't have to be bother with that.
I need to divert them from asking more about the curry dish. So I ask mom about the existence of oven.
"Yeah, we do have an oven, but it was at outside. Don't you see it, the red brick oven?"
"What, that old RED.BRICK.OVEN?? That's what we used? Is that the truth Peter?"
"Yes it is young miss. Why? What's wrong with it?"
OH.MY.GOODNESS. that's terrific. I mean I want to bake cake, cookies and other thing but to use that type of oven. It use woods as the source of the fire, takes a long time to heat the oven properly and the usage of the woods also too much. How the hell I want to use the oven if it is so hard even though I don't even start anything yet.
Also looking around the kitchen, I also notice about the non-existence of microwave and refrigerator. And reality hit me hard. Maria this is another world, not the same old world any more. I tend to forget about that.
Ohhhhh... why is this so hard. Now I have to face another hardship. How the hell I want to create the oven in this world????
