Matt
* 3 days later * (PS: They Are MARRIED. They are not robots they have feelings and hormones and all that other stuff. Just saying ð. Of course it's going to be pg if you're wondering).
I starred at my wife taking in how beautiful she is. After a while I slipped out of bed and went to our balcony shutting the door so I wouldn't disturb her. I take out my Bible and my journals and begun quiet time. I'm married now but that doesn't mean I slack with God. If anything me being married motivates me to push harder, pray harder, fight harder. I spent the next hour talking to God and spending time in His word with no distractions. I closed my books and set them aside opening back the door and going back inside.
She was still sleeping. She wasn't a late morning person but since the last couple of days she's been needing to rest. Most of her fatigue is my fault anyway. I smiled. Whoops on my part I guess. I slid back in bed wanting to be here when she wakes up and brought her closer to me. She stirred underneath my arms and rolled over to face me.
"Good morning," she said her eyes opening and shutting trying to adjust to the light. The smell of her morning breath hitting my nostrils but I didn't care.
"Hey baby," I said and attempted to wipe the white line from her mouth. "You're finally awake, "
"What time is it?"
"11:22"
"11!" she yelled shooting up from her position.
"You were tired, "
"I have to get up. I have toâ"
Before she could go any further I pulled her back to me.
"Matt," she mumbles against my chest.
"One minute, " I said my arms wrapping around her. I kissed the top of her head and lifted her face to kiss her lips before she pulled back her face filled with disgust. My brow shot up.
"Morning breath, " she said while covering her mouth.
"I don't care, " I said trying to pull her back to me.
"Not gonna happen Mr.Mconner, " she said getting out of bed pulling the sheets with her.
I wanted to ask if that was necessary since it's been three days but women were different. It would take time for her to adjust to living with someone she was going to be vulnerable with for the rest of her life so I kept my mouth shut.
I got up slowly moving towards her. Her eyes widening before she ran into the bathroom and shut the door.
"Hey, " I said trying to keep myself from laughing. "I want in,"
"I'm going to shower and get ready, " she said.
"Even better, " and she groaned.
"Men, "
There was silence for a few seconds before I spoke again. "I'm going downstairs okay?"
"Okay,"
And with that, I left. We weren't on our honeymoon, not yet. After the wedding we wanted to come home and unpack getting settled into our home before she went anywhere else. It was Rachels idea and I wasn't against it. I didn't get to build her the house I wanted her to have because everything was going by really fast we bought a house a week after getting engaged. Rachel fell in love with it the moment she saw it. It had potential. Six bedrooms, five and a half bath, two-story home with the basement below. I was okay with whatever she wanted as long as I was with her. Renovations took up our entire engagement since the house was pretty old. It cost a pretty penny because of how fast it had to be done but it was worth it. Rachel trusted me with the renovations overall only wanting to customize the bedrooms but everything else was left to me. I gave her everything she said she wanted that night at my parent's house. The cafe would have to wait for later. She wanted a garden so I made sure the houses we went to see had no less than an acre of land. The house we're in is 3 acres. That's should do for now.
By the time she came downstairs, I was done setting up the chairs that were supposed to go around the island in the kitchen. We got most of our unboxing done we just need to discard the boxes. My breath caught as I watched her come downstairs. Was it going to be like this all the time? She looked so beautiful it almost hurt.
"Thank you for setting that up," she said coming towards me.
My arms open for her squeezing her when she makes contact with them.
"You're welcome, "
I lifted her chin up so I could steal a quick kiss this time she didn't pull back.
"How was your shower?"
"Refreshing. Are you hungry?" she asked.
"Depends on what's going to be on the table, " I said.
The look she gave me had me laughing in a heartbeat.
"Too soon?"
"Way too soon, " she said giving me another kiss.
"What do you think about French toast and eggs? Do you want bacon?"
"Please, " I said sitting at the island. I've learned my lesson when it comes to my wife and her kitchen. If she needs me, she'll ask. Other than that, leave her alone.
We made conversation while she fixed us breakfast me throwing in a few of my jokes every once in a while.
"Tea?"
"Ummm I'm not feeling for tea.."
"Alright. Well I can make some lemonade, "
"That sounds good, "
A few lemons later we were at the island eating together.
"Will you tell me where we're going for our honeymoon?"Â she asked biting a piece of bacon.
"You know the answer, "
"It didn't hurt to try, " she said.
"You'll like it. I promise, "
"I know, " she said as I placed a kiss on her hand. She looked at me as if she was contemplating telling me something.
"What is it?" I asked
"Tell me, " I said after another pause.
"You're wearing the watch, "Â she whispered.
I looked down at my hand. "Of course you gave it to me, "
"I know...I was a step ahead of you,"
"What are you talking about?" I asked confused.
"The day you gave me the necklace thing with the locket you had my rings in there. You knew you were going to propose, "
"I did, "
"I bought that watch in the ninth grade. At the time it was expensive for someone young like me but it was so beautiful and it was the message that sold me, " she said.
"When I bought the watch in the box it said 'Good things come to those who wait'. I wanted to give it to my husband,"
The more she talked the more things came into place and my heart swelled.
"I knew I'd wait for you Matthew James Mconner, "
------------------------------------------------------- This is the end of my first book ðððð. Would y'all believe me if I told y'all I wrote this book as I go? I did not prewrite this. I'm not one of those writers that write things beforehand. As soon as I can an idea or motivation I write. What did y'all think? I love this couple. I'm thinking of doing three books in total this being the first but we'll see. Lemme give y'all a mini-tour of their house before I go because I know I would want one. In the next book more pictures of the house will be shared.
