Chapter 22: 8-9-2: Cornell Big Red (4-3-0 ECAC Hockey)

After starting the new year on the wrong foot, the St. Lawrence Saints return to Appleton Arena to resume ECAC Hockey play as they welcome the CNY portion of ECAC teams, Cornell and Colgate this weekend in Canton. With 18:15 left in the first period, Nolan Gluchowski scored his third goal of the season to make it 1-0 St. Lawrence. With 15:26 left in the first period, Gavin Bayreuther scored his fourth goal of the season, on the power play to make it 2-0 Skating Saints. Kyle Hayton and Mitch Gillam matched zeros for the remainder of the period so St. Lawrence leads 2-0 heading to the second period. Hayton and Gillam matched zeros in the second period so St. Lawrence leads 2-0 heading to the third period. With 11:50 left in the third period, Jacob MacDonald scored to make it 2-1 Larrys. With 26 seconds left in the third period, Brian Ward scored his fifth goal of the season into an empty net to make it 3-1 St. Lawrence. Kyle Hayton stands tall in the St. Lawrence net and the Saints win 3-1! St. Lawrence improved to 9-9-2 on the season and 5-3-0 in ECAC Hockey play!
