After a third period collapse last night, the St. Lawrence Saints head to Troy, New York to play the Rensselaer (or RPI for short) Engineers on the final night of the regular season in ECAC Hockey. With 49 seconds left in the first period, Gunnar Hughes scored his twelfth goal of the season, on the power play to make it 1-0 Saints. Kyle Hayton and Scott Diebold matched zeros for the remainder of the period so St. Lawrence leads 1-0 heading to the second period. With 17:30 left in the second period, Mike Prapavessis scored to tie the game 1-1. With 14:59 left in the second period, Eric Sweetman scored his third goal of the season to make it 2-1 Skating Saints. With 9:29 left in the second period, Drew Melanson scored to tie the game 2-2. With 7:22 left in the second period, Drew Melanson scored to make it 3-2 Rensselaer. Hayton and Diebold matched zeros for the remainder of the period so 3-2 Engineers lead heading to the third period. With 9:06 left in the third period, Eric Sweetman scored his fourth goal of the season, his second goal of the game to tie the game 3-3. With 6:22 left in the third period, Mark McGowan scored to make it 4-3 Rensselaer. Scott Diebold finished off the Saints and Rensselaer wins 4-3. St. Lawrence finished the season with a record of 18-13-3 and 13-8-1 in ECAC Hockey play.
