I reached at restaurant that James uncle told me to come and went to the washroom to get freshen up a bit there was a little dirt on my dress. I also noticed that there was little blood on my right elbow. When I fall on stranger my elbow get brushed to road pavement. I cleaned wound and leave it as is it because right now i don't have an bandage. I got message from Jax construction company, it states that I got an job and they will sponsor my thesis.
I left washroom and walk toward respection area. There was an lady working on computer. I approached her. She looked at me and smiled a bit.
"Good afternoon, miss. I am here to meet Mr. Knight and reservation is under Knight." Her smile falls and she got up and said follow me.
Have i done something wrong. I don't think so. I ignored her behavior. Maybe she had rough day. She showed me table and left.
I was excited to see uncle James. Uncle James seating at table but his back on my side. I decided to superise him and went quitely without making any noise and hugged him from behind.
" Hii, uncle. I am here." I chippered exitingly.
He is baffled a bit and didn't move a bit. I hugged him tightly and kisses his cheek. I removed him from my embrace and went to take seat. I looked at him and stand up shockingly , he is not uncle James. Shit I mistaken someone with him, then I noticed his face he is that man I saved earlier. His face shows utter shick. Now he is going to grill me alive. Before he can say anything I should apologises him.
" I am really sorry sir. I didn't mean it. I just mistaken you with Mr. Knight. " I was afraid and i tried to reason it. I said in one breath looking in his eyes directly. Then I get he has beautiful blue eyes. I never seen blue eyes before, his eyes are captivating. His hair is brown.
" Miss. beautiful eyes, I am Mr. Knight. " He said with little smile on his face but his eyes were sparkling like a diamond. Did he say I have an beautiful eyes? I can feel little blush crept on my cheeks. I think he noticed it. He chuckled at me lifting his lip in half smile. I tried to compose myself.
" No No , I am talking about uncle James. sorry I mean James Knight. Sorry to bother you, I should leave you with your drink." I tried to escape the situation and started to walk away from table but he suddenly stopped me grabbing my wrist. I looked at him with superise.
" Why always you ran away? I want you to thank properly, you have saved my life." Ohh, he is an nice guy.
" No need , sir. I was just passing near by and you were talking on phone during crossing. Please be careful next time." I said politely.
" Jason" he said looking in my eyes.
" What?"
" My name and I will be careful next time. I promise." Am I attracted to The stranger maybe , maybe not. I have to admit he is very handsome, tall with charismatic eye and confidence. I nodded and try leave but still hold my wrist in his hand.
" Dad will be here soon." My eyes widened with realisation. He is James uncle's son. Small world ha. I nodded and he left my wrist. I heard James uncle's voice and we turned towards him. He is approaching towards me opening his arms.
" Dear, here" he said enthusiastic tone. I walked towards him and hugged him.
" I was waiting for you and where is aunt Stella? Is she ok? " I asked. Aunt Stella's health is little delicate.
" She is fine dear just stucked in her ngo work." He continued.
" Son, I want you to meet Pavi Raj." He said. Jason extended his hand forward and I took it, we shook hands. My hand is considerable smaller than his.
" Actually, uncle we meat before, but not officially." I told him.
" Jason , you haven't told me that you have meat at-" Jason cut him off.
" No, dad. We just meat here and in front of mall. She sa-" before he he could tell him that she saved him from accident and he will get worried, I cut him off.
" I accidentally spilled his coffee, half an hour ago."
" Ohh" he said and smiled. Gesturing us to take a seat. Jason pulled my chair beside uncle I said small thank you and he seat down in front of me.
One waitress come and asked about order.
" Three glass of Merlot please." Then he turned his head towards me and said.
" Hope you like Merlot." I don't know how to reply this, I just looked at uncle. He get that and replied looking at waitress.
" Fresh orange juice for her." And she left.
Uncle turned towards Jason.
" She doesn't drink."
He was little surprised.
" Are you allergic to alcohol?" He asked me in little worried tone.
" You can say that, alcohol is banned in our home." With my reply Jason get confused and uncle stars laughing. He looked at me and said.
" I will make him understand. I just remembered my reaction when Prakash told me this during first visit." He continued.
" Son, Pavi is daughter of Prakash uncle . You met him remember. (Jason nodded.) Father is very traditional man, I mean grandpa of Pavi. He like things in traditional way. He don't allow consumption of alcohol." Uncle try to explain.
" Is that mean, you never drink alcohol not even a sip?" Jason asked.
" No, never" i replied.
Our drinks come and we were starting ordering. Uncle and Jason ordered some stake and I ordered some vege pasta with white sauce.
" How long you are turned vegetarian? One of my friend tried 3 months max then turned again in to non veg." Jason asked curiously. I think he get that on my food choices.
" Almost 23 years. " His eyes widened. I know what is his question so answered without asking.
" My family is pure vegetarian, I never eat any meat." I told him.
He looked at me without saying anything. Uncle James started.
" You will get used to her and she is amazing and it's our task to spoil her. She is too navie for NYC. "
" Uncle , don't ruin my image, I am not that navie you are discribing." I said in low tone that only uncle can listen. He said sure in low tone.
Our lunch came and we started eating.
" Jason, now get to the point shall we? (Jason nodded). I want you to help Pavi to adjust in city also help her to making friends here. She will be living here for at least two years for her equational purpose. I want you to take care of her in my absence and make her comfortable here." He said making me shock.
" Uncle I am grown girl I can take care of myself. I don't want to disturb him." I don't want to drag him in my life forcefully.
" I would like to have a new friend, Pavi. I will show you around on weekends." He said, and continued.
" What are you studying? " He asked.
" I am PhD student at NY University." I replied with smile.
" Wow, on which topic?"
" Water treatment technicallies with plant growth."
Uncle's voice took my attention.
" I am sorry , sweetheart. I am so happy that you are coming here in that I forget to ask your research topic." He said in sad tone.
" It's ok uncle , I know you are busy with all arrangements I can understand."
" Thanks, dear."
" Uhnnn, I want you to hide one more thing from dad." I said nervously.
" Sweety, I am already hiding about your living arrangements. He still think that you are living with us. Now what you want me to lie to brother?" I can see worry in his voice.
" I got an job here."
" If you want to do job then you have told me, I will have arranged that for you and beside if I like company then and then only you can work there. Understand"
" Yes, uncle. If you don't like company then I will not join beside i found it little weird that they accepted me without interview." I told them.
" Name the company, I will sort out issue." Jason said confidently.
" JAX Constructions." I named. They didn't say anything just looking at each other. I showed uncle email of joining.
" May I work there uncle ? I liked their new project and beside i can also use my degree their with study. I just have to report personally once a week, please Uncle." I think he will not allow me to work there. Why they are staring at each other.
" You can work there princess. You will like the place and people." He said.
" Thanks." I said to uncle. We continue to eat lunch.
" On which position you got job there?" Jason asked.
" Environmental Engineer" I said causally. While speaking I subconsciously put my arm on table and Jason saw a hint of blood on sleeve. When i looked at him, he already staring at elbow. I understood and immediately put hand below table.
Jason was about to ask regarding injury but I cut him off.
"So, uncle you will hide this job thing from dad right?" I asked.
" Have I said no to you before? I will." He said. I think Jason understood. And never talk about that after.
"Jason and Pavi you both are coming tonight for dinner also bring Alex and Xandar with you, Stella is preparing feast for you all." Uncle James said and we agreed.
As lunch finished we were heading towards parking. A phone call interrupted us. Uncle James pick up the call and said.
" Sorry, princess I need to leave urgently. Office is on opposite direction I will get late. Jason will drop you ok."
I nodded and he left. Now me and Jason headed towards car. I don't know how to start conversation. It will get awkward. Finally I started.
" I meet your friend Xandar ,he came to india for weeding ceremony."
" He told me that, he met you there not only this but also that you called him american monkey." He said controlling his laughter.
" Sorry, I didn't mean it . It just he placed his foot on plant." I am trying to explain. I don't want him to offend because I called his friend monkey.
" We also call him monkey. He likes you. You remind him of his sister Ariyana. She also used him to call monkey." He said.
" Oh, that why he was smiling after hearing call him monkey."
" You will meet him tonight and Alex also." He opened door of car for me. I seat down and said thank you.
He take seat and started driving.
" Jason, can you drop me at University. I need to complete paperwork there." Jason's eyes widened a little and he stopped car beside the road. What's happening with him.
He look at me for moment and took out his phone and called someone. I waited for completion of his call.
" Will, I want all paperwork of admission to be complete until tomorrow, Pavi Raj name of student NY University. " He said and put phone down and started driving.
" There is no need, I can do that you know." I said, I was shocked. He is doing my paperwork.
" It's alright, no big deal. You will get mail tomorrow of completion of paperwork." He said normally.
" Thanks Jason." I thanked him.
He stopped car at road side and said stay here and get out of car. After five min he come and said.
"Give me you hand." My eyes widened in shock. I am just staring at him with my big eyes. He looked at me and smirked.
" I am asking your hand for bandage not marriage." This remark made me blush like tomato. I can feel hotness around neck and cheek. He noticed and started laughing like child. He took my hand and started bandaging it.
" You are shameless." I murmured.
"Yes, I am." He said proudly while laughing. He continued.
" Why you stopped me from taking about accident to dad? Also you stopped me when i noticed this." He asked.
" It's just simple, I don't want him to be worried about us. We are grown up people and can take care of us."
I told him. He finished and started driving. He stopped car at my apartment building. Then I got the fact that , I didn't told him where I live.
" How do you know where I am staying?" I asked curiously.
" I have chosen the apartment for you." He said.
" You knew I am going to come here , uncle told you?" I asked curiously.
He just smiled and said .
" No, I found out earlier with you." He said.
" Dad, loves you like a child." He said.
" Yaa, we are close even my family is close with uncle and aunty, but our conversation never turns to you, he always mentioned you as his son." I said with bright smile.
" Yaa, I get that. He mentioned you but not by name he always say princess. " He said with half smile.
" Sounds like uncle." With that I get out from car
" See you at dinner Jason." I said
" Yaa, see you. Get ready at 7 pm. I will pick you up." With that he left his eyes hold some unknown emotions at that time.
