Chapter 1270
Chase took the chocolate but didn't eat it. He just held it and asked. âDid you buy this chocolate, or
was it Jacob?â
Belinda replied honestly. âJacob bought it for me.â
Chase raised an eyebrow. âYou're moved by a box of chocolate worth a couple of bucks? I thought it
would take at least high-end chocolates to impress you.â
Belinda expressed her dissatisfaction with Chase's attitude.
âMr. Larios, either eat it or give me back the chocolate! Not everyone is as loaded as you, who is
able to casually buy a box of chocolates worth hundreds of dollars.â
Chase chuckled at her. âYou actually can. Your uncle could even invite a top-notch chocolatier to
your house to make you chocolates on the spot, right?â Belinda's eyes flickered. âI could, but Jacob
can't. His family is just average earners; they can't afford to splurge on chocolates.â
Chase laughed lightly. âSpending a bit extra on chocolates for his girlfriend is considered wasteful?â
Belinda was clearly upset, and she defended her boyfriend. âIf I asked, Jacob would definitely buy it
for me! But I donât want him to waste money because of me!â Chase shook his head with a smile. He
casually put the chocolate on a side table, stood up, and looked down at Belinda somewhat
smugly.
âDo you know that it's best for girls not to lower their living standards? You can save for him once or
twice, but can you keep lowering your living standards for him in the long run?â
Belinda avoided Chase's gaze and turned her face. âHow am I lowering my living standards? You
told me before that Jacob's family is not bad. His parents are educated, and you said he's
excellent.â
Chase sighed lightly, âI did say that, but it was to other female employees in the company. I didnât
expect you to fall for Jacob so quickly.â
This âfall for" made Belinda uncomfortable, implying that she had fallen out of love with him. But
they were never together in the first place!
"All I want is someone by my side for the rest of my life, who offers me stable support. I don't care
about money!â
Chase leaned in as he looked at the naive Belinda. âBelinda, even if you don't choose me, don't be
swayed by a box of cheap chocolates! You deserve someone better!â
Belinda's ears turned red, and she instinctively stepped back, chuckling uncomfortably. âI appreciate
your high opinion of me.â
âI'm serious; you shouldn't trust men easily. Being broke and refusing to spend money on you are
two different things.â
Belinda paused and then frowned. âI never thought I'd hear something like this from you!â
Chase didn't say much and just gently patted her head. âIf you want to date, then do it. I won't
cause you trouble anymore. If one day you want to come back to me, I'll always welcome you.â
Belinda was silent.
What did that mean?
For three consecutive days, Collin would come here early in the morning and stay all day. In the
evening, the Blanchet familyâs bodyguard would take over his shift. Ellinor, Ida, and Chase gradually
adjusted to this situation. Since they couldn't make them leave, having free bodyguards to watch
over the house wasn't a bad thing.
On this day, Collin came early as usual, standing guard at the front door.
Chase and Ida had both left for the company, leaving Ellinor alone at home.
Around ten o'clock, the doorbell rang.
