Chapter 1553
âYes. That boy must've played hard at noon. He's out like a light.â
Sophia was now thoroughly convinced that the kid in their house was not the one they had raised,
but the one who had grown up beside Ellinor.
Perhaps he found the discipline at home too strict and decided to run off for some fun, not wanting
to return.
Children may not understand much, but having one around always presented a risk. Who knew
when the little tyke might spout nonsense in front of Marcus?!
She needed to find a way to deal with it. And the two around Ellinor needed to be dealt with too.
She needed to avoid future trouble.
S
She certainly didnât want her future husband to have children with another woman.
After thinking it over, Sophia tested the waters, saying, âMarcus, would you like to have another
child to keep Tristan company?â
If she could have a child of her own with Marcus, it would be much easier to find an excuse to get
rid of the one Ellinor had borne.
Marcus hesitated slightly, his brow furrowing. âWhat do you mean? How would we do that? Do you
think I'm in any condition to have another child?â
âMarcus, with all the advances in technology, we could try using artificial insemination. While we're
still young, I'd like to have another child.â
Marcus coldly responded, âWe'll think about that later. For now, you need to take care of your
father's business.â
"Okay..." Sophia didn't continue, but she noticed the faint sweat at the roots of the manâs hair.
âMarcus, why are you sweating so much?â
A fleeting shadow crossed Marcus's face as he answered. âIt's nothing. It just feels a bit
in here.â
Sophia thought it was very strange. âHot? I remember in M State, no matter how hot it was, you
never broke a sweat.â
âI slipped in the bathroom a while ago. When I got up, I exerted some effort and broke out in a bit
of sweat.â
He couldn't let Sophia know he was doing rehabilitation exercises. That would only raise her
suspicions.
Sophia felt relieved after hearing his explanation. âMarcus, next time something like this happens,
you can call me to help. We're husband and wife; it's okay for us to see each other's bodies.â
Marcus simply responded with a noncommittal grunt. âNext time, I'll call you. You've been out all
day, so take a rest. I'm going to check if Tristan has woken up.â
Sophia wanted to say something more, but the man was already turning his wheelchair to leave.
At that moment, her cell phone rang.
Without getting up to follow him into the room, Sophia sighed and picked it up.
It was her father, Thaddeus, calling.
"Honey, your mother and I are almost done with our trip and ready to head home. When are you
and Marcus coming back?"
Sophia sighed in frustration. âDad, we can't come back just yet. The domestic business you asked
me to handle isn't finished yet. I need more time.â
Thaddeus's voice hardened. âJust sell those properties. What's taking so long? Did you run into any
problems over there?â
Sophia sounded worried. âThe companies that were supposed to buy our businesses suddenly
backed out. They're all saying they don't want to buy,â
Thaddeus grunted. âThose cunning foxes! They're probably taking advantage of you, a young
woman. Your mother and I are about to finish our trip, so we'll come over to help you. Don't worry,
I'll handle it myself.â
